My sister-in-law’s BFF died of it a couple of weeks ago. We’d all known her since high school. She was youthful, healthy, and active.

They called the ambulance cause his chest was hurting and he was having difficulty breathing but cause of the near crisis situation we are facing at our hospitals here in Arizona right now they wouldn't take him in cause his stats where "too good" OMG, difficulty BREATHING, and they couldn't take him to the hospital? That is terrifying! How is he now?

I still don't know anyone who was confirmed to have had it.
But I know two people who believe they had it in February but never got tested. Both got sick while traveling (one to Mexico and one to the Philippines.)

I still don't know anyone who has had it, nor have I heard any of my friends and family mention knowing anyone who has had it.

When someone says it is not anything to worry about because they don't know anyone with it, my response is:
I don't know anyone who's had breast cancer. So I should not have mammograms every year, right?

My best friends sister has it. She was in the hospital with double pneumonia. They released her earlier this week when her oxygen was at 93 because they needed the bed. She’s in CA.
I think my dh and possibly the kids had it in January. His boss had traveled to China in December. DH has issues when a cold gets to his lungs anyway but it didn’t clear until March after SIP. He said in May his lungs still don’t feel right. Haven’t asked recently.

Yes. I know quite a few people in our neighborhood who had it, or whose adult children had it. Currently my very good girlfriend and her husband have it. Luckily, I had not seen her the the week prior to her diagnosis. I had invited her and her husband over for hot tubbing, but, she said she wasn’t feeling well...and, Boom! 3 days later was diagnosed. It has gotten very close to home for us.

Quoting myself: “It took another several weeks til she was finally pain free, and is still too weak to stand/walk for more than a half hour per day. She has suffered lasting damage to lungs, kidneys, and liver.” scrappintoee said, “Because we don't know a lot about the AFTER-affects, I'm curious, what was the source of her pain? Hope she's better now!” We are not close so I don’t know for sure. We are more “friendly” than friends. But while she was in the hospital she was posting videos sharing her thoughts. Her breathing was very labored so my assumption was that the pain was in her lungs. But I don’t know for sure. She seems to be doing much better and regularly posts saying she is at PT.

While I don't know anyone personally, I do know a few that have been tested. I haven't heard of results for most of them. MIL is a nurse and has been tested a few times. Negative so far.
A sister in law to my brother in law (married to his brother) was exposed at her work. Her test came back negative. I haven't asked if she had a second test yet to return to work.
However, my parents have friends in FL and at least one has it. Dad told me one of his cousin's kids had it, a relative that I couldn't identify in a line up.

I have a couple friends that live far away that are doing well, and now a close co-worker has it so I am limiting my exposure to others. I still have to leave my house for work and gas and still use the drive thru but I'll avoid any shopping for a couple weeks.
We're not tested unless we're symptomatic, which I am not.

Yes, several. Most have been acquaintances or friends of my kids and their parents. But my cousin and her family all got it recently. One of my clients just had it (he had no symptoms but his girlfriend does—they are both 70). A player on my sons baseball team had it. My neighbor and her son had it. Two of my coworkers have adult children who had it.

I have lost one friend.
I personally know 2 others who have had it and since recovered. One had permanent lung damage and walks with a cane now.

My cousin had it and she recovered, although it took a toll on her. My brother's dad (he's my half brother from my mom's 2nd marriage) got it and died after being on a vent for 3 weeks. He was at Mayo Clinic.

My 22yo daughter has recovered from her case. She’s a nurse and her clinic does testing for the county. She had severe fatigue, congestion, headache, loss of taste and smell, and was miserable. She’s never been so sick. She was so afraid she gave it to me or her sister since we take immune suppressants, but we didn’t get it.

We got confirmation yesterday that my sister-in-law has it. She has severe asthma, but so far she has had a mild case and is feeling better. I pray it continues to be good for her.

Yes a couple of co-workers here in NY have had it and a couple of friends from Tx had it as well.
My niece who is an RN in Texas had it and thankfully is home now. She still feels tired and says she still has some trouble breathing.
My cousin's daughter from NJ had it and passed away. She was 30 years old and left a 2 month old baby.
My oldest son lives in TX and just got tested and we are waiting for results. He has had trouble breathing and running some fever, he is also diabetic. I'm praying he will test negative.

When this thread was first started I don't know anyone that had it. Now I know 5 people close to me. Two are in the hospital, one on a ventilator, neither are doing well. The other 3 are all sick.

I tested positive for Covid 19 on July 9th. Thankfully, I had only mild symptoms and my recovery was easy. I have one close friend who tested positive, as did her son, both mild cases.
I work in a large hospital and know that several people I work with tested positive.

I only know 2 people who have been confirmed cases.
One believes he caught it back in April, while traveling for work. He was sick, but never hospitalized. His whole family quarantined for two weeks (he was in a separate room) and no one else got it.
The other is a police officer who got it while working a COVID testing site. He had what he described as a cold for 3-4 days but that was it. His wife ended up with a low grade fever for 3 days, but no other symptoms so she never got tested. Their two kids never showed symptoms. The whole family quarantined together for 2 weeks.
Neither person is local to me.

I still don't know anyone who has had it. My DS was tested, but it came back negative. And DH said there is another person at his work site that is positive, but he doesn't know who it is. It's a big plant, spread out over many acres and lots of employees.
There have been less than 300 cases in my county and 2 deaths.

YES. (Not sure if I already answered on this one, but I'll do it again): *BIL (was in bed, isolated even before they confirmed that it was Covid, back in late January) *Nephew (BIL's son-------both work at the same place--science based engineers) *Sister (not in the above group) She got it in April. Isolated at home. *BIL (^ sister's s/o), back in February. He isolated for weeks & we all hoped he wouldn't need to go to the hospital since he has very bad asthma and all kinds of inflammatory issues. He thought he got rid of it, tested, and had it again/still!!! *Too many friends to list...........
All of the above is my family/friends in NY. I knew of some people in NJ and PA that had it too. Friends of family did wind up in hospital, and dozens of them did wind up passing away.
Down here in FL it's harder to get the truth or details. People act like there's no pandemic (always have), and I haven't heard of anyone we know getting it. Again, this is the "down-low State" where it's all kept secret, so I doubt we'd know......

Yes, two of my online students, both under 30 and healthy, contracted it and it wiped them both out for several weeks. Although they’ve since recovered, they say it’s the sickest they’ve ever been.

I also know a person in my expat group who had it, and is suffering major after effects from having it. The strangest after effect is she now hates the taste of wine, which just seems downright cruel to me.

Several people that my husband works with have had parents with it. Not sure if they survived or not. I know at least one wasn’t doing well. Just found out another friends daughter has it along with her roommates. Luckily she is doing better and hope it stays that way. I think she is about 21.

Since this thread was made I have known three more people to be diagnosed with COVID-19. Two have made it through with little complications and one is currently still fighting and not doing well.
