Yes I have had 10 friends who had it, All 10 passed away. That’s horrible. I’m so sorry.

I don’t know anyone personally, I live in BC where we are doing well but this thread just reinforces why I’ve stayed home as much as possible, only going to work and then straight home. Why my son with terrible lungs hasn’t been anywhere since March, hasn’t played outside, and likely won’t until there is a vaccine.
I am so sorry for everyone’s loss and everyone who has been touched by this horrible disease. I’m frustrated with the naysayers. I work with one and wish she’d read this thread and realize just how ridiculous she sounds and acknowledge the fact that people are losing loved ones.

Quite a few. One of the ladies from my knitting group and her husband both had it in the early wave that hit here in southern Germany. One of DH's work team here in Munich and another in Gothernburg also had it, but a bit later on.
Another friend who lives in the UK had her son and his fiancee test positive - he is a junior NHS doctor and most likely contracted it through work.
Just this past week, another of DH's team let him know her aunt had died from Covid in Spain, and one of my sisters in law lost a family member in Australia.

26 year old dd tested positive for the antibodies so she most likely had it. She was not very ill. She remembers a day feeling bad with chills/fever and start of sore throat but basically better the next day. I don’t know anyone else who had it.

No, nobody personally at this time. I know we had a pretty full Covid floor at my hospital during the shutdown, but fortunately we weren’t overwhelmed.

I know several people who have had the virus. Three of them died. Two were the parents of a friend of mine. They were hospitalized together, placed in ICU together, and died within 2 days of one another.

I know 3 people who have had the virus. One sadly died, the other 2 are still suffering with their health months after catching the virus.

Yes. My dd’s driving instructor died from it, at least 3 colleagues had it (while we were locked down so I wasn’t in contact with them), a friend’s mum also died from it. There are currently 263 cases in my local area & 67 have died from it.

The grandmother of one of my colleagues passed away from it in a care home. She was tested. Other than that, everybody I know who has been/is still ill began in March/April before tests were available, so we'll likely never know.

Yes, my 38yo brother. He was moderately sick, recovered at home. His wife and kids didn't show obvious symptoms so haven't been tested, but they are in a one-bathroom household so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they also later test positive for antibodies. My brother is now donating plasma for clinical trials.
Someone in my department at work was hospitalised with it, has since recovered. For privacy reasons their name wasn't released so I don't know if it's someone I personally know or not (there are around 200 of us, I know about half well enough to chat to).

A neighbour of my parents, a brother of my husband's work colleague and the father of my friends neighbour.
Three different reactions, 1) recovered at home, 2) induced coma in ICU, ventilator, still recovering 3) did not recover.

These stories are all so sad. So many people now dead. I can’t believe how many people are still not taking this thing seriously enough. It scares me how many people just on this thread noted that the people they knew who passed from it were otherwise healthy and/or young before coming down with it. It makes me cringe when I hear talk of the kids going back to school in a few short months knowing this could be the reality for even more families. No. Just no.

Yes. My best friend and her husband both had it. Luckily they were both mild enough cases that they were able to remain at home. Both in their late forties, age wise. BF’s DH is still dealing with breathing issues many weeks later though.
A good friend from college’s DH was an early case and was on a ventilator for 10 days, but is now back home.

My dad had it. He had what he thought was stomach flu. About a month later he tested positive for antibodies.

I do. A family in my community has 4 generations infected in late May, including a 94yo great grandma all the way down to her 6yo great grandson. The ggma is (miraculously) asymptomatic, but knowing she infected her daughter (who had to be hospitalized), son-in-law, granddaughter and great grandson has to weigh heavily on her. Thankfully, everyone in the family is recovering, but it has been absolutely gut wrenching for ALL of them. I graduated with the great grandson's dad and am FB friends with his wife. She has been blogging about the whole situation and my heart breaks for her family every single day.
People who say this is a hoax make me want to punch them in the throat.
ETA: DH's cousin was diagnosed last Friday. We were told because we were planning to get together with his brother, but he called and said he had to go into testing protocol. There is a 3yo in the household and he has been in contact with his elderly grandparents so it's very worrisome.

My friends dd (17). No symptoms yet. She was tested as a group of friends she was hanging out with had tested positive. The mom is awaiting her test results.

How do you know? They are not releasing names here. Because they told me. Or in the case of an acquaintance, they told someone I know that they tested positive.

I guess the same way as those who know someone - no one they know has told them that they had it or suspected they had it. And if someone you knew died from it, I imagine that there would be at least rumours that it was Covid that caused it.

Gotcha, I read it wrongly. I imagine there are areas, especially the very rural, where there haven't been any cases. But near me, it was really bad for months. The numbers here are finally dropping because most people are taking it very seriously.
