That describe so many people I know, especially my youngest brother. His DD is a teacher, in a classroom with kids. He goes to work and out to eat. Yet, he still visits our parents with his family, no masks.

I've basically been thinking of this like an STD...you're not just exposed to the people that you're with, but to everyone they've been with, too.

I have a friend who has not been out of her house since March. She lives alone and has groceries delivered to her garage. About a month ago I was in her neighborhood and I called and asked if she wanted me to pick her up and take her anywhere or get anything for her. She said, "Honey, I haven't been out since March and I have no idea when I will." She then said she is immunocompromised. We chatted for awhile and hung up. It was said matter of factly and I accepted it.
With that little story my response is that you are doing what you feel safe doing, and all you need to say is, "I'm not doing inperson meetings (or leaving my home) yet. I can do zoom meetings or another video or audio format." Period. If people grumble or make comments ignore it. If you have to say you have underlying health concerns and your doctor advised you to stay quarantined. But really you owe no one anything, and if your boss needs to approve continued at home work tell the boss whatever you have to.
My family does go out and we have all along pretty much within the guidelines of my state. But I still respect other's decision to stay home.
