Between yesterday and today, all my lights and assorted decorations (garlands on the front steps’ banisters) are out in front of our house and will come on at dusk.
I have never put them up before Thanksgiving before. And I didn’t do much the past 2 years because of health issues. But I broke everything out of storage and took 2 days to put up everything we own, including stapling lights to outline our front door, etc.
With so many people home because of COVID, and our school district just announced that the staged back-to-school that was supposed to start tomorrow has been called off, I figured we all could use extra holiday cheer. A number of other houses in our neighborhood have put up their lights already too, so I’m not alone.
So, are you going to put your lights et al. up early this year? Or same as usual?

I usually put lights along the roof of my porch Thanksgiving weekend. Will likely do that again this year. We live on a dirt road, not a whole lot of after dark traffic, but I put the lights up for ME! Tree will go up first part of December. Our new principal at the primary school where I work is going nuts with small lit trees all over the place, early, but gosh it looks great!

I have not decorated in 2 years....Dad had kidney cancer surgery 2 years ago at Thanksgiving and he had a horrible recovery. Last year he was in and out of the hospital most of December and then died in January. Putting up some simple decorations --no tree due to the dog in my avatar---LOL.

I usually decorate after Thanksgiving as well, but this year I'm putting everything up this weekend. Partly because I had zero interest in decorating for fall, so figured I'd just jump right to Christmas so the house will look festive for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving weekend, as usual. I don't have the energy to put it up earlier.

I decorated on Saturday. I was earlier last year. Normally it's up before November 20th or so. Thanksgiving is long over and winter is full, days are really short. Time for some festive cheer!

I always decorate on Thanksgiving night, and plan on decorating as usual this year. I always watch the Walton's Thanksgiving reunion(I have the DVD) on Thanksgiving evening as well.
I have severely downsized my decor over the years. I have a small one foot high table top tree, and all my Christmas decor fit in one of the larger plastic storage totes.
My smaller Christmas display, is perfect for me.

We put all of our lights up yesterday and they will be coming on every night until January.

Our outdoor lights have been up since late last week. We pay to have them put up. The price is very reasonable and I figure it is a whole lot less than the hospital bill would be after my husband or I fell off the ladder. I wouldn't have put them up quite this early, but my only choice was "before or after Thanksgiving." I said "before" because I didn't want to take the chance that they wouldn't put them up until mid December.
I love walking my dog at night through my neighborhood when all the lights are up.

Tree goes up Thanksgiving night and we begin to decorate the tree, inside and outside Black Friday and over the weekend.
Will be the same this year.

I’m always an early decorator, somewhere in the first two weeks of November. So I decorated last week, and the holiday lights have already lightened my mood.
But I also take everything down no later than December 26th. I’m most happy if it’s down Christmas Day, I’m weird like that.

My goal is to have my tree, garland and small amount of decor up by Saturday. I'm usually the weekend of Thanksgiving decorator but I need it earlier this year.

We put the candles in the windows last weekend, but I consider those a winter thing, not a holiday thing. We take them down again in March. DH says he loves to come home to the candles on a dark night, so I let them be.
Otherwise, I’ll put up decorations Thanksgiving weekend. Everything stays up until the epiphany so I don’t like to put it up too soon.

I agree with you completely. We need some extra holiday cheer. We usually put decorations out on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but we have decided we are putting them out this coming weekend. This is a first for us!

Well I voted put up earlier... but I am not putting up my whole slew of stuff. I have a new St. Bernard puppy that will look at my normal Christmas tree as his bone. Ornaments he will think are his play toys and presents to eat.
So I went and bought a cute tree/decorations and putting it in the middle of my kitchen table. I will just have to move it when we need the table. (We rarely use the table anyways right now).
Also with DS moving in and all his CRAP (errr, I mean his stuff), aka his extra desk, computer stuff in my family room, and no room to move anything.. it will just be a HOT MESS before Christmas.
But I think we will put up our condensed tree/decorations up this week or weekend.

I bought a pencil tree at Michaels last week when they were having a good sale, so I've already put that up. The rest of the Christmas stuff will go up after Thanksgiving.

We put our outdoor lights and decor up yesterday and set them up to come on at dusk. We usually put them up in early November but we never turn them on til late November. This year though, like you, we wanted some extra holiday cheer.

Mine is just weird this year, so I picked other. You know, obviously we need a mishmash option.
Normally I put the Halloween stuff away 1 Nov and leave out the pumpkins, but not much else until 1 Dec and swap to Christmas.
This year I bought a bunch of real pumpkins and decided to really just decorate outside. I put up a little Halloween inside, but put out more than usual outside. When I removed Halloween, it still looks awesome for Thanksgiving. Then Dh came home with 15 poinsettias, because he got a great deal! So I went ahead and got out winter themed things and mixed them in with the pumpkins. Come Dec I'll make it more Christmasy out there when I'm decorating indoors.
And now I might look into how much it would cost to have someone come put lights up on my house. We've never had lights outside before.

I put up my 3-foot tree over the weekend and a few other things, and I'm going to pull out some more stuff later this week. And I bought a 2-foot tree to sit on the floor below the 3-foot tree, which is on a low table, to make a little scene, or vignette if you will. :-D The 3-foot tree has red & white lights and the 2-footer will have green lights. And I'm decorating them both in a nature theme. Then I'm going to make a little scene with bottle brush trees on the sideboard in my dining room, and put some decor on the table behind my sofa, too. Just enough for happiness, but easy to put away in January.
We'll put up lights and greenery on the front porch, too, but that will be Thanksgiving weekend.

My tree lives in the corner of my dining room space because there's nowhere else for it to go. The lights are on a timer so I leave them on all year. They're actually a nice nightlight. So I have a Christmas tree, a new year's tree, a valentine's tree...

We are getting our tree this weekend so DS can help pick it out, carry it in and set it up. He works the entire weekend of Thanksgiving so we are doing it early. I am getting new lights this week and they will also go up early. I never really did decorate for Thanksgiving so not like I am replacing anything. DH actually suggested we start early and I was not going to argue.
He even let me listen to Christmas music last weekend. I will play Christmas music when I am alone throughout the year if I need a pick me up, but he is a "Not until after Thanksgiving" guy so this was a big thing.

We have started listening to the Christmas stations on SiriusXM, which started on November 1 this year. Dh is usually adamant about not until Thanksgiving, but seems to be enjoying it this year.

If I could put mine up early, they would be UP. We just moved into a 55+ community with rules, and they say up to 3 weeks before a holiday, decorations can go up. So I have to wait.
My daughter put her tree up yesterday. We all need some holiday cheer!

I’d probably decorate a lot less if I couldn’t put lights up until December 4 and then only enjoy them for 3 weeks - they are way too much work. 😜

I’m in a townhouse so no outdoor lights allowed. I will decorate the house Thanksgiving weekend. The tree has become secondary to the other decorations so that will go up last. I leave everything up til the end of January.

We had permanent lights installed outside our house, so all we have to do is turn them on via the app each night. DH started doing that on the weekend.
The other stuff will go up next weekend. We are not going to decorate downstairs in our family room, so it's just upstairs to do this year. To be honest, I don't even care if we decorate anything this year.

I'm assuming it will be same as usual which will be the end of November ... I'm separated so need to wait for ex to put them up ... he usually has no problem doing that so I'm hoping he won't have an issue doing it this year too
