My claim to fame is not worth mentioning 🤣 Awww.....c'mon, we wanna know! I'm telling you .. you will regret this. So if anyone remembers the commercials in the 1980s, "Hey Vern" or "know what I mean Vern".. famous for silly commercials.. usually for milk I think. Then went on to do the Ernest movies. Anyways, his son (who isn't mentioned anywhere that I can find) went to school with me and I believe died of a drug overdose. So it is a stretch... and since I can't find that he had a son, I wonder if I am mixing him up with someone else... but this is what I remember. lol

Halle Berry, she actually lived on the same street as me, and much to her dismay she did not live in the ghetto, it was more rural than anything. Any time they show her photo from the year book, they also show my husband's best friend Jimmy.

Vanilla Ice went to our local HS. He is several years younger than our son, so no one in our family knew him.
Is he famous or infamous? After his lip syncing story, I'd say infamous.

These threads are always fun! It's been a long time since we had one. elaine ---I'm dying to know, since "Brady Bunch" was my all-time fave----were you pals with Susan Olsen? Julia Campbell was a year ahead of me in high school in Northern Virginia. I didn't know her, but one of my closest friends did. She's had a longggg and varied career! This is just a portion of her IMBD--I had NO idea how many TV shows and movies she's been in! She was even in one "Friends" epi back in 2000---that must have been a thrill for her. She actually went to my elementary school, jr. high (where oh yvonne also went), and high school. She lived a couple doors down from where I boarded my horse in someone’s backyard, so I saw her out in her yard a bit too. I wasn’t friends with her though, she pretty much stayed to herself. Back then child actors and the kids of actors still went to public school in the Valley, but I think the being in and out of class for filming, etc., was hard. Nowadays, I think many of them skip going to a brick and mortar school and are “home schooled” by a private tutor. My high school has been the shooting location for a ton of things, including the infamous Boy in the Plastic Bubble after-school movie (with John Travolta), and most recently The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). I didn’t know it had been shot there and was in the theater watching it with Dh, when I was like “hey, that’s MY high school.” Ah, the memories! Yeah, Susan Olsen kept pretty much to herself in middle school as I recall too. I remember one thing that stuck with me was that the other kids told me when she was in elementary she used to spend her entire recess skipping around the perimeter of the playground. I remember thinking how lonely that must have been. Those same years Foster Sylvers of The Sylvers went to school there too. He had first period right next to mine and he fascinated me. He wore the same track suit jacket every day and it said "Foster" on the right stripe going down one arm and "Sylvers" on the other, lol. He had a big smile and was so cute and tall and skinny with a 'fro. At the time Boogie Fever hadn't come out yet, and right when we moved away mid year the song became a hit. elaine do you remember a guy named Shotzie I think it was, and he dressed and looked just like Tim Curry in Rocky Horror PS? I remember being fascinated by him too. I think he was a grade or two older than us. He was quite the spectacle. I remember Tim Conway's daughter went to school there, I think her name was Cathy. Tim came to back to school night and I was bummed I didn't go and get to see him, I loved him on Carol Burnett. We moved up the coast to a beach town and Brandon Cruz from Courtship of Eddie's Father lived there. He was a total surf punk kid and the whole local Nardcore punk rock scene was big there. Their parties were vomit fight fests and after a couple I avoided them like the plague, lol. Years later I worked with the proud dad of one of the band members of Suicidal Tendencies.

I am geeking out with the other pea... we have also seen them live and been fans forever. The last time we saw them, our friends went with us and we were waiting around outside when Dicky was leaving, I thought our one friend was going to faint right then and there. We were just listening to them this weekened as we were putting away summer furniture. Tell your cousin, there is still lots of fans out here that LOVE them!

Hilary Swank was the year ahead of me, in middle school and until she left high school. So was I in your class, lol. We're talking about Fairhaven, right? Oh my gosh, yes! I student taught in 6th grade there! Such good memories of that school. Dig deep: who was your teacher? So if this was the year Hilary was in 7th, then I would have been in 6th grade. My core teacher was Mrs. Jewett. Although, I remember during the Spring we had a huge unit on Conservation, and the classes rotated through all the 6th grade teachers, each focusing on a different area. Edit to add: I do kind of remember a student teacher for either 6th or 7th grade. Not a name, but just a petite woman with short brown hair. But I don't remember how many teachers might have had student teachers at the same time.

I graduated with an Academy Award nominated director, producer, screenwriter. He has won numerous international awards, including at Cannes, for his work. David Foster (music producer) was at least 10 years ahead of me so I don't usually count him. A former president and COO of Yahoo was a classmate/friend of my sister and a couple years behind me. You are a Rambler? You know who the Rams are??? I didn’t know that!

My kids' high school has had a number of students go onto Broadway. Anyhow, a bunch of my friends from town went to high school with Donna Murphy, and pretty much every year they all head into NYC to see her latest show. She's a lovely host from what I hear. I think it's nice that they've stayed in touch for so many years (she graduated in 1977). Oh, I LOVE Donna Murphy!

I know I remember I heard it from ALL the kids who went with her to the elementary. "Remember how she used to skip around the school?". The elementary school was right across the street from our middle school and I used to look over at it and wonder at why she'd do that. To avoid the other kids I suppose. I never forgot that, apparently. It left an impression on me.

How funny, I worked on a couple sitcoms with Julia Campbell, a gazillion years ago. They never got off the ground, but I do remember her as being very sweet and down to earth Oh, how cool! Are you an actress, or another job in show biz? Or maybe you don't want to tell us and give away who you are? Oooh, do we have a celebra-pea amongst us? P.S...this reminded me of the old board where we'd speculate if any celeb scrapbookers lurked or posted. Hahaha no! Definitely not an actress! I worked in tv and film for many years, before I had kids. I started out as a secretary at Universal Studios, got into production, worked my way up to production supervisor. The sitcoms I mentioned were early in my tv production career.

Do I admit my claim to fame? I grew up in the same small town that Ted Nugent lives in. I partied with his daughter in high school. I have met Ted many times. Hahaha! I have met him several times as well. My husband's family owned an archery shop for years and he always visited when on the west side of the state and we always saw him at trade shows. He was very strange, but always plugged our shop when he did radio interviews, so we had to pretend to like him! ;-)

I went to high school with Kristi Yamaguchi. There are several people in hollywood that I went to school with too. The guy who created blogger is a good friend of mine. I grew up in the Silicon Valley. My niece dated a relative of Kristi Yamaguchi. I don't remember whether it was a cousin or younger brother. I did have one classmate that ended up in television. Her name is Kimmy Robertson. She has done a couple of commercials, but would be best known for Twin Peaks. She played the receptionist in the Sheriff's office. I used to go over to her house after school. She had the nicest mom! I guess I should also mention my niece, the one that dated the Yamaguchi relative, is an actress. She has done some commercials and a few bit parts in some shows, but nothing that anyone would recognize. She hasn't had her "big break" yet. So, on second thought, she isn't famous so nevermind.

When I thought about it, I realized I really did/do know several people who went on to become "someone". LOL
Marcy Wudarski(she was a year ahead of me in school) was James Gandolfini's(Tony Soprano) first wife. They have one son. Lance Irwin(same grade and then a year ahead, he skipped up) is an actor. He has done cameo spots in several TV shows(dramas) and movies. Ron Gant (Atlanta Braves ball player) is married to one of my classmates (Leslie). Arun Ramappa(same grade) is the Team Physician for the Boston Red Sox. He is a big name orthopedic doc. He also was one of the main Doctors who helped the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
The other story I have isn't as fun. One of my classmates grew up and married a very prominent doctor. He was a political figure as well. He killed her and then himself after a holiday party in 2010. It was a really ugly story(not that any murder isn't ugly).

She just retired. I was with Mrs. Schlicting, down at the end of the hall by Mr. Kok. I was there from September to March, but subbed in the building a few times until the end of the school year.

So if you went out Mrs. Schlicting's room, walking down the main hallway in the wing, we were on the left, Mr. Newman's room would have been on the right, and the pregnant teacher farther down on the left. I remembered Mrs. Schlicting. My two BFFs were in her class, which was annoying because they had opposite lunch (it was because they were in Band. Mrs. Schlicting and Mr. Kok had the Band kids). LOL, crazy things to be discussing on a random message board.
