There is still a mask mandate and compliance when I'm out and about in San Diego. I did notice a few unmasked walking around downtown in the news coverage of opening day. The mom of DD's friend is a hairdresser and the dad of another friend usually goes to her. When he called for an appointment the other day she reminded him he had to wear a mask and he went off on her. Not sure if he ended up with a cut or not. He'd get a cut from me, all right. Not a hair cut, though. 😂

We are in southwest PA. Most people here are pretty good about wearing masks. But ever since the CDC said it was okay for vaccinated people to gather with unvaccinated people in small groups, people decided they didn't need to wear masks if they were vaccinated. A lot more maskless people now.

Still mandated here too. We were just at a mall in Tacoma and everyone was in a mask. They are still regulating the number of people in each store as well. The line outside the Apple store was the longest.

I'm just south of DFW and mask wearing is 50% or less. They just ended mask requirements in the schools in our district. My family, except for my 17 year old DD who just had Covid, are fully vaccinated but we still wear masks in stores.

Indiana's mask mandate ends April 6th. The governor said counties and cities could do their own mandate if the felt the needed to, but our republican legislature is trying to over turn that. They want to make it so that cities and counties have to get approval to have their own mask mandate. He also want to take the ability to put these kind of measures in place any from the governor. Indiana can be such a backwater place. At least I live in a somewhat progressive town. I’m in Indiana, too. We made a quick trip to Kohl’s today. First time since, April? I think. They were pretty busy. Saw a mixture of masks, no masks and a bunch of “I put the mask on to walk in the door and now I’m wearing it on my chin” people - mostly guys. I was not happy and kept dodging the non-mask wears. DH wanted to go into Walmart to get wild bird seed (only place he can find it). It was really busy, but everyone was masked. We didn’t linger because it was so busy and no one was even pretending to social distance. Typical Indiana. Ugh.

We still have a mask mandate in California. All the stores require a mask. There is also still a limit on capacity. I went to Walmart last week and was surprised to see a line to get into the store. My area of Ca hasn't had lines at WM, Target, BB&B, ect since the holidays. Grocery stores haven't had lines to get in since June.

we've never had a mask mandate - our governor banned mandates months ago.
Employees at the big chains wear masks, employees of local shops? nope. Customers? I don't think it ever reached 50% and it's certainly not anywhere close now. My family has been masking since last March and still is. But we're an exception around here.
Very rural, very red area

My area of So Cal (I.E.) has people who don't mask up. If the local walking trails are busy, we mask up. If not, we carry ours to have just in case. Most people wear them in stores but you do see a few here and there without them. Downtown State St has many who go maskless while walking.
My county is at an Ro of .74

As iamkristinl16 mentioned, we still have a mandate here. Pretty much everywhere I go everyone is masked indoors with the exception of the occasional little kid. I talked to a family member who lives in TN and OMG. I am so glad I don’t live there because their nonchalant attitude about Covid would drive me insane. Said family member didn’t only take the crazy bait but totally bit the hook off and swam away with it. 🤪 This person went on to pretty much tick off every nutty Republican right wing conspiracy talking point that has been pushed over the past year, including: masks don’t work otherwise why have they continued to change the guidance; distancing doesn’t work otherwise why did they change to 3’ instead of 6’ in schools; mainstream media is lying; scientists are lying; Fauci is lying; Covid was developed in a lab in China and everyone is lying about that, and after that last one I pretty much stopped listening. But yet—both my family member and their spouse got the vaccine, so...yeah. 🙄

But I think once things first calmed down in June, people stopped freaking out about food and went back to normal shopping habits and times.

I am in Central Texas just north of Austin. The majority here are still wearing masks. I would say it’s about 80 to 85% mask wearing. We get our second shot this week and will continue to wear ours.

I stay out of most stores still. But we still have a mask mandate and so when I do I am still seeing 100% compliance with almost everyone wearing them correctly to boot!

I live in a suburb north of Dallas. I feel like in the town I live in most everyone wears masks. We went to Denton today and it seemed like so many people there were not wearing masks.

I am in West Texas and there are almost no people wearing masks... and a lot of people anti-vax... my dh n I have both been vaccinated And we both still mask up...
Our job is still 100% masks but if no supervisor is around... then lots of chin masks or dick noses... next week our factory is offering the JnJ vaccine to anyone who wants it and hasn't already been.. it doesn't sound like very many people want to get it... i would be 1st in line if I didn't already get the Pfizer

They seemed super unhappy that the governor and cities could operate unilaterally of getting their approval for anything, like this. You know the operations of a typical majority Republican state legislature.

Mask wearing is still very good in NE Minnesota. We went to eat at a small restaurant/bar and there were several people sitting at the bar together. They were talking about their reactions to their second vaccinations, so I thought that was pretty good. I'm starting to feel more hopeful that people are going to get their vaccinations. I think a lot of people were talking tough that they weren't going to get them and that's very easy to do when it's not your turn yet, but I think we're going to see a huge amount of people vaccinated in the next few weeks now that it has opened up to everyone 16 and over.

I live in the Central CA foothills is a very red county- mask wearing was NEVER a "thing" and people constantly went off about their freedumbs being impacted. I don't shop in the county I live in because of this stupidness. I work in the central valley in a different county from where I live. The mask wearing is pretty much 100% compliance. I shop at Target, Costco, Walmart, Dollar Tree, 99 cents only store and everyone in those stores are masked up properly. Walmart has one door in/out and the rest of the entrances/exits are closed with signs stating that the entrance is closed and to use the grocery one. 99 cents only store had someone counting entries/exits.
The county I live in is in orange. The county I work in is still purple. My students have been in school in person since Nov.9 when we were DEEP purple. Sigh. Thankfully I am fully vaccinated. My DH is not since he's a SAHD and can't seem to get an appointment/vaccine yet. Should be SO MUCH MORE easy (LOL) after April 15 when it's open for EVERYONE. Sigh.

I was in a Target today in Frisco, Tx and everyone I saw was wearing a mask. It was posted at the doors that masks were required.

So, are people still masking up where you are? Houston (inner loop) and nearly all places I shop/eat at are still requiring them. I've only been in one small shop that did not require them (although the staff wore them) and to be honest, it was a fabulous experience. I was able to stay longer in the shop and ended up spending $800 when I only went in for 1 item that was less than $150. Cannot wait until the others shops relax the mask requirements.

Still masking in my city. But yesterday at Wal Mart in abutting county, saw the 'masks recommended sign'. I went in and everyone was wearing a mask. I'm glad as I'll wear one for a while even if the mandate is lifted. I'm in northern Calif.

I in the Seattle area. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone inside without a mask on. Outside walking, it’s a mix. But, everyone is socially distant.

Our governor extended the mask mandate for another 30 days and I am glad. Me too. I get my second shot on the 19th. I live by the World Arena and they are putting 6,000 people through a day (4 days a week, I believe). We need to get a lot more people vaccinated before we say no masks. ETA: I just checked and 31 of our counties are "green" and will no longer require masks.

I was just speculating with my 18yo when we were out for a walk when CA will end the mask mandate. I would assume it is once a certain percent are vaccinated, plus our positivity rate remains very low. I'm guessing sometime this summer, but really have no idea. They just ended the request to not travel more than 120 miles which was a surprise to me.

They're not mandated here anymore by municipalities. Granted I don't go many places but I've been pleasantly surprised at how many people are continuing to wear them. I've been to Target, Trader Joes, and into Portillo's and into the gas station since the change, and in each place, only one party was not wearing them.

I don't see hardly anyone wearing them outside, but we never did either unless required by where we were. But we also don't get close to people or see others getting close to each other either.

I am in Northern California, and was out today. Every store I saw people with masks, except for one family in Target, a pregnant mom, her two kids, and most likely her mom. Our Marshall's had a line to get in. I have been to Trader Joe's and the last two times I didn't have to wait in line. I was thinking that maybe the percentage of occupancy had changed. There is chatter in one of our local Facebook groups about how children should not be wearing masks in school since people don't have to have masks when they sit down in a restaurant then the kids should take off their masks because they are just sitting. They are not referring to when the kids eat, they are referring to the idea that sitting means no mask. Ugh.

Wow what’s going on in Michigan?? Their cases are really climbing. The UK and Brazil variants. People are wearing masks but everything is packed and not many care anymore. I will say that TX, FL and GA are in for a rude awakening. So many people from MI are traveling while potentially sick to those places because they don’t have to wear masks. Should be interesting in another couple of weeks.
