Thankful, yet again for living in a blue state. Masks mandated here and pretty good compliance, although I am definitely noticing more people out and about, especially in restaurants. We have been fully vaccinated ourselves, but still not comfortable sitting in restaurants. Sports started up here again, but everyone still has to mask. Are those of you upset about sports in areas where mask wearing isn't required for that? My nephew plays baseball, but everyone is masked and no spectators are allowed outside the car. My little friends are in soccer, but everyone is masked, teams are very small and we have to stand with our family groups in a socially distanced manner while watching. I have no problem with sports staring under the conditions we have. Band my family members do virtually and that doesn’t seem to be a problem, there is no way they could do band in person except for percussion. Schools are just returning here, and only either half days or 2 days a week, Sports here are no masks, full spectators.

I see most people outdoors wearing masks. Still a requirement to wear them inside stores and people are complying here in NYC.

I think ours ends on April 10 and I see a lot less people not wearing them. I kind of like the anonymity of wearing a mask. I'm going to add a baseball cap so I don't get recognized by anyone.

All sorts of pics of them all together out and about in restaurants, at church, at the roller rink, all huddled close together for photos and not a mask in sight. It’s so depressing to know I’m related to these people. That has been my entire family for the last year, with the exception of a cousin who lives a few hours away and I don't see her that often anyway.

I live in IL, and yes, we are wearing masks where I live. The fact that your state lifted the mandate in the midst of rising cases and a potential surge (because we are not at a vaccine/herd immunity threshold yet) is why I won't be traveling there any time soon, despite having friends there. Y'all are a mess. I don't disagree with you that we're a mess, but I do want to say that cases are not rising in Texas. We've been on a steady decline since mid-February. Not saying that won't change given people's current behavior, but that's where we are right now. Do you think people are also not getting tested too?

100% masks here. Outdoors and in. Everything is still pretty locked down. My republican governor was one of the first to lock everything down and keep it that way. I can't imagine living in a place that doesn't have it.

I’m in central Minnesota (I’m not the first or only to respond from here.)
I’ve seen a lot of mixed mask wearing depending on where I am. I’d say most stores are 80+% that wear, but it really depends on if anyone is enforcing or not. I see a lot of chin diapers and off the nose wearers in stores with no one monitoring (Scheels comes to mind for those in the area).
Places like our smaller, higher end, grocery will usually have 100% or a rare nose exposed costumer, but you could walk into a car mechanics and no one is wearing a mask (happened on Friday).
I am fully vaccinated and have gone out to trivia a few times with my coworkers (teachers and fully vaccinated). We obviously have our masks off when eating, but we wear them when we are not eating. When we first stated going we would occasionally see a table or two doing that, but now we see no one else doing that (trivia teams are almost all from multiple households). Everyone has tier masks off the entire time.
ETA: my son is a youth hockey player. Most of the dads wore their masks off their nose or on their chin. The season is done, but it was annoying and frustrating.
No one said anything at the rinks after the second lockdown. The only place that limited or monitored amounts of people was at regions. We had to have a limit of 3 armbands per family, but regions gets a lot of lookiloos, so they kind of had to do it.
Also, the only places I’ve been to that were limiting people into the stores has been in the Twin Cities (a weekend furniture outlet and TJ were limiting last weekend) We tried the MOA maybe three weeks ago (when my son went to regions). It was mayhem. Also saw clusters of people not wearing masks. We left.

I'm also in a DFW suburb and I'm still seeing masks. In fact, I can't think of an instance where I haven't seen them since the mandate was dropped. I'm fully vaccinated now but will continue to wear a mask when out and around.

At Sam’s club I usually see more not wearing them on the weekend (or not wearing properly). We went to MOA on Wednesday and I would say 99% that I recall were masked. Some stores had a wait to get in. I’ve seen that at the local mall as well but right now I think the capacity is up enough that they don’t have much of a problem with it. During youth basketball the spectators were good about their masks but there were some players or teams that seemed to have problems with them “slipping” and the ref would remind them to put them on right. There was one spectator allowed per family. No word regarding HS baseball yet. Ds thinks that there won’t be a limit since not that many people go to games and it’s outside. But we will see.

yes, everyone is wearing masks (by that i mean indoors and everyone is the 99% of people - and probably 96% are actually wearing correctly).
saturday we just started another "lockdown".
we didn't even get to indoor dining, patio dining just opened (less than two weeks maybe) and that has been cancelled, salons and personal care was supposed to reopen april 12, cancelled and stores are back to more limited capacity than previously.
not so tough for us - we were pretty limited but i guess this is province wide and other areas were more open than we have been.
march break was pushed back to next week - i suspect kids may end up back on remote learning after the break.
our vaccinations seem to be rolling out slower than the US, which is disappointing.

I live in Iowa. Our governor never issued or enforced an actual mandate for staying at home or mask wearing. She has suggested it, but nothing "official". Most of our businesses still have signs up that "require" masking/face covering. Yesterday was the first time I noticed that there were more people without them than with them.

Do you think people are also not getting tested too? Don’t know. Data seems to indicate testing rates have remained level. There is still plenty of testing going on around us. More people are traveling, college kids are coming/going, which seems to be leading to plenty of testing. I'm actually surprised at how many tests some people I know have had. I've had exactly zero tests and plan to keep it that way if at all possible! I've been fully vaccinated since Feb. but am putting off travel until the restrictions on testing and masks are gone.

In urban Houston where I live, most people seem to be wearing masks. I saw one guy out yesterday without one. Out in the suburbs, nope. A friend sent a pic of HEB in Katy filled with holiday shoppers, and there was not a mask in sight. An acquaintance posted a photo of herself at the Katy Republican Women's meeting - lots of women crammed together, not a mask among them. Whatever. I can only control me. Katy will have to sort itself out (that's a western Houston suburb known for its far-right politics, for those who don't know). I mostly notice the same thing. Except for last night! I am normally not out at this time of night on a Sunday, but I was driving down Washington, and the bars were PACKED. My son works at a bar/restaurant on the weekends in EaDo. I'm sure it's the same situation there. He's only had the first vaccine, so I'm hoping he can avoid infection before his second dose is due.

Around here, the mask mandate was lifted state wide in early March. Some local towns kept it, while others didn't, and since the governor is very numbers focused, I assume he would continue his policy of reinstating it in any county that reached certain thresholds. Frankly, in a state as spread-out as ours, I think that makes sense - you don't have the same transmission rates on the MS Gulf Coast which is closer to New Orleans as you do in North MS which is basically a suburb of Memphis.
In the town where I live - which did not keep the mask mandate - most people are wearing masks in stores, but not in outside venues or in small groups, where I would presume they know whether their group is vaccinated or not. We are at the point where the vaccine is available to everyone 16+, and it is readily available (I just checked, and there is a long list of appointments available through the Department of Health's Drive-Through clinics, and that isn't even considering pharmacies offering it). I think we are also at the tipping point where everyone who WANTS one has had the opportunity to have at least their first shot. Our numbers have been the lowest they have been since last March for a good month now, and the hospitals can handle the capacity now, which was always my biggest concern.
Now, I visited another community in my state this weekend, and pretty much no one was wearing masks. Some places didn't even have signs up anymore.
All of that said, we are so less sparsely populated, that high numbers here were never in the same range as high numbers elsewhere. You are never going to have the same transmission rates in an state like Mississippi where some people don't even have a grocery store in their town as you do in a city where people are packed together. After my daughter's school went back in August, they put in triggers to shut down the school pretty early in an outbreak among students or staff, and it has only happened once. Now that we've made it though most of the school year and indoor band competition season, I'm pretty confident that she'll have a pretty normal graduation.

It’s very rare to see anyone not wearing a mask in stores and other place. Store entrances still have signs stating masks require and that they are available on request. Sanitizer is still available at most entrances and baskets are still being sanitized-including the three HEBs I went this weekend and the customers there were all wearing masks. We are not stupid people in Katy! And no, Katy is not known for its far right politics! It’s a diverse community that includes people of all races and politics with low crime rate, highly rated schools, excellent law enforcement, all levels of income, a wonderful Asian community a market center, many Hispanic stores, as I said, a diverse respectful community with many worldly views. We also have a satellite Texas medical center. Excellent restaurants and entertainment. And we are in an are that rarely floods, loses powers. I don’t fear going out to the grocery store at night alone. This is a lovely place to live, visit, raise children and retire. Merge, you should spend some time here before you make such judgements! Any time you want to do lunch, and explore some of Katy, let me know!

Katy also went for Trump, Cruz, etc. by quite a large margin if I recall correctly. I realize not everyone out there is far right just like not everyone in Texas is, but the majority seem to vote that way. My preference for urban living over suburbs is personal. To each her own! I’m glad you enjoy living where you do.

I don’t see masks when people are working in their own yards, driving in their cars, eating while sitting in restaurants, but there is social distancing going on, even in urban, suburban and rural areas. I was doing a tank exchange for the bbq. speaking in genalizations is what offends me. I don’t vote because of party affiliations, I vote for what comes out of a politicians mouth and their personal political histories. My voting registration is unaffiliated-I had to write that in. My other thought was to write intellectual but the clerk wouldn’t by that one!

As it happens, there are a fair number of kids from Katy who pay out of district tuition to attend the HISD school mine attends.) Your personal voting record is not relevant here. It’s indisputable that Katy swings right by a large margin in recent elections, and that in Texas, that often coincides with an anti-mask stance. All I can tell you is that I see a big difference between mask use in Meyerland/Bellaire/West U. where I live and work, and stores out in Katy where I have shopped recently when I happened to be out there for other events.

I’d imagine baseball will be pretty good, but since it’s MHSL masks and some guidelines in place. Summer youth associations will probably be a free for all like hockey was 90% of the time. I’ve noticed the local mall, people wear in the stores but seem to think the mall is “outdoors” or something and walk around without masks. We were out buying kayaks today. I saw a lot off the nose, but no one without a mask at all today at Scheels, dicks or Costco.

In Ohio, yes. I did see 2 people inside of a Sheetz who were unmasked. They are supposed to wear them, but I guess the employees get tired of enforcing it.Family members are retail workers and have been told to not enforce the mask mandate in the store for fear of injury from a customer. IIRC, wasnt a security guard at a 5 Below killed by trying to enforce a mask requirement, and other similar incidents?

I had the misfortune to *meet* a real maskhole.I was standing in line last summer, standing on my designated circle and minding my own business. A woman not much younger than I, standing behind me was too close, and I glanced at her. “Too close?” she asked. “Just a bit,” I responded. She said “What about now?” and stepped nearer, pulling down her bandana. Luckily it was my turn to get waited on, and she was also waited on at another register. She was angry and a very good person to stay away from. I often wonder how those people function in real life.

I'm in MI. In my area, people are still wearing them.
However dh and I took a road trip to a more rural/conservative area of the state on Saturday. I had to use the bathroom so we stopped at a gas station since fast food places all have their lobbies closed. The cashier at the gas station had his mask hanging around his neck.
Then we went to a Mennonite owned bulk food store. About a 1/4 of the customers were not wearing masks and I saw several employees also not wearing masks or had them pulled down. Our young cashier was wearing a mask properly. However it was a disposable one and she had "pro-life" written on it in magic marker, so that was interesting... Definitely in Trump land there.

I'm in MA. Pretty sure we still have a mask mandate (inside and out) and people are, for the most part, following it.
One of my staff, her son goes to U-Mass Amherst. Well, he and his roommates all went to Florida on spring break. She told him not to go, he went anyway. All 6 of them now have COVID. He wanted to come home for Easter and she said "NO. I told you not to go and now you're sick, I'm sorry but you're not coming home". She has a 16yo at home that has a lot of health issues, who has been fully vaccinated, but she's like "nope, actions have consequences".
