I was talking about this in a FB group of some school friends, some of my friends live less than 10km away from where they were born.
I was born in Hannover, Germany and now live in Melbourne Australia, which according to Google is 16,227 km (10,083 miles).
How far away are you currently from your place of birth?

I estimate I live less than three miles from the former hospital where I was born (it’s now a nursing home). I grew up on a farm about twenty miles from there, but during college my dorm was less than a mile away and for many years after I lived no more than two miles away. I ended up marrying a guy who grew up just a couple blocks from the hospital, which was where his dad worked, and we built our house just a block off the main street where the hospital, the dorm, my former apartment and his childhood home were located.

I went to college about an hour and a half from where I grew up and now live about an hour and a half away in the opposite direction. We are probably about an hour and a half from where DH grew up also. Younger DS lived in CA briefly which is on the other side of the country, but he has moved home. Older DS and his wife are planning to move back here after living away from home for the past 12 years.

I drive by the hospital I was born in regularly and recently gave birth to my son in the same hospital. It is less than a ten minute drive to get to the hospital. My parents still live in my childhood home. I know it’s encouraged to eventually leave your home town but I was born and raised in San Diego and really have no plans to leave.

Just over 3 miles from hospital, on the same island. I've lived elsewhere but ended up back here. Dreaming of moving to another borough when my bank account allows for it! Would like to leave the country altogether some day, though.

My parents still live in the house they lived in when I was born. I’m about twenty minutes away, which is halfway between their house and where the local hospital was at the time.

About 7 or 8 miles. DS, maybe 2 miles more than that. Dh lived in several cities. Im not sure where exactly in the big city he lived when he was born, but it probably isnt more than 10-15 miles.

I’m a 5 min drive from the hospital where I was born and a 5 min drive from the house I grew up in (which doesn’t stand anymore). I sound so boring. I have lived elsewhere. Just wanted to come back.
