Well I'm awaiting some exciting recipes here.
I don't like peppermint, unfortunately, so I'm out of the loop on most holiday candy. :-(

Vanilla Tootsie Rolls, they only come out at this time of year so I usually buy a few bags and hoard them until they're gone. Certain cookies that we only make at Christmastime because they are a pain to make. Homemade caramels. Divinity! I usually end up buying it because the humidity has to be just right for it to turn out.

My first thought was a chocolate orange but I don't think we have bought them in years. I also love the chocolate covered peppermint joe joes but I won't buy them because I have no will power and will just keep eating them DS is looking forward to my fudge and he likes to make stuff with the melting chocolate, pretzels and m&ms and sometimes mini marshmallows.

Peppermint Joes and Reese's trees (because I finished up the pumpkins, LOL).
**In my haste to post about my love of the Joes, I should have said candy cane, not peppermint.

Almond Rocca. I try not to buy it too often and limit how much of it I eat. This is a problem.

We ordered a chocolate peanut butter brownie pie with whipped cream from a fundraiser at my daughter's school so I am really looking forward to that! It should be arriving next week, right in time for Thanksgiving! YUM! I also like the chocolate oranges from Trader Joe's! I have been working hard at eating less junk food (and have been pretty successful at it) but it can be hard to resist all the great food that comes at this time of year.

I only have to wait about 1 week for homemade stuffing on Thanksgiving. We usually eat Stove Top during the year which is ok but no where as good as real stuffing.
Also Bob's candy canes, Cello chocolate covered cherries, chocolate no bake cookies, and ribbon candy.

A family candy recipe we call cinnamon candy. Love it! It taste like pie dough with cinnamon and sugar mixed in. Soft, sweet, and delicious. My niece made some Sunday. I'm hoping someone makes it again. If I make it I will eat it all. lol

. In Germany you won't find food coloring in their gummi bears or food, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. Sorry, Debbie, but that's not the case. We might have more stringent rules on food coloring here, but you can find artificial color in lots of food and candy.

Cost Plus/World Market also has a selection of German foods, including Leibkuchen and Stollen. Somehow a bag or two of vanilla tootsie rolls from Target always end up in my cart. And I don't share with the rest of the family.

Almond Rocca. I try not to buy it too often and limit how much of it I eat. This is a problem. Don't ever make it, I guarantee you will eat too much of it . I picked up a package of the Gingerbread Oreo's the other day, and ate the bag in 3 days, that is a row of cookies a day. I won't be buying those again.

Home baked Chrismas cookies - my favs are Peanut Butter Blossoms (with kiss), praline crunch, molasses crinkles, choc. mint, gingerbread. I'm sure there are some more but I always make those. Then, I like the peppermint bark stuff. And pumpkin bread but we start in November on that.
Mmmm, I need to go buy my supplies so I can make some cookie dough and get started!

I'm always looking forward to the German goodies that show up at Trader Joe's this time of year that remind me of my childhood in Germany. The Stollen-that wonderful cake that is covered in powdered sugar, and is filled with dried fruit and almond paste, the Brandy Beans (Okay, I didn't have those as a kid, but I sure do enjoy them now)-those are delicious chocolates filled with brandy made in Germany. And those wonderful round cookies that I can't remember the name to that come 6 to 8 in a package. They are white on the bottom and are so delicious. That's what I look forward to the most. We left Germany when I was 6 and every year my Oma would mail us a package at Christmas time filled with these goodies just so we could have a taste of Germany during the holidays. Now sadly she is long gone, but Trader Joe's has come to the rescue! If only they would import the amazing German Gummie Bears I would be filled with joy. The ones made here are nasty and don't taste at all like the ones made in Germany-plus they add food coloring which gives me migraines. In Germany you won't find food coloring in their gummi bears or food, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. Debbie in MD. Debbie, My husband is an army brat and as a kid he spent many years in Germany. He loves all kinds of German Food. His mom and sister do too and they frequently order from this place and have it shipped over. I can't remember the name of it though. It is expensive though. I thought he was totally nuts he wanted this cake so bad he just had to order it. I cost about 80.00 for this small cake. He enjoyed every bit of it though. He would totally love to go to Germany just so he could eat the food ha ha.
