Darn it-it posted before I could reply. I completely understand alibama about your DH. I'm the same way. The food in Germany is incredible. Ask your husband if he misses the bread-especially the brochen-those incredible breakfast rolls. My German mother and American father order things from the same kind of catalog too-they started last Christmas. It is incredibly expensive, but for them it is worth it. I visit them during Christmas so I get to share Debbie in MD.

. In Germany you won't find food coloring in their gummi bears or food, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. Sorry, Debbie, but that's not the case. We might have more stringent rules on food coloring here, but you can find artificial color in lots of food and candy. Really, I thought it was completely banned. Well, at least you are moving in the right direction. It is in so many foods here=you have to be so very careful! Debbie in MD.

I hoard Terry's chocolate oranges. There are other brands out there, but Terry' s are the best! I also loved Millstone peppermint coffee, but it's not available in stores anymore.

We are stationed in Germany right now :-) I LOVE anything Haribo ..and I am happy to send you some real german gummi bears :-) just sent me a PM Haribo gummi bears are available over here; I think that Target has them. I know, but even though it says Haribo they are actually made in the USA and because of that FDA allows them to add food coloring. Look at the label. The food coloring is what gives me migraines and lots of other folks. It's not just that. They taste completely differently. The ones in the USA all taste the same. The ones made in Germany taste MUCH better, each color has a distinctive flavor, they are just more flavorful and yummy overall. Debbie in MD.

He says no way are they the same. As for the bread you were talking about, I don't even have to ask him he talks about this stuff a lot lol.

Chocolate oranges-the dark chocolate is my favorite. Also, our local candy maker makes these white chocolate gingerbread bites and dark chocolate covered crystallized ginger. So good!!
The other day I saw gingerbread Twix bars but didn't buy any. I was scared I would accidentally hide them from The Child and eat them all late at night. You may have noticed that I have a thing for ginger.

I am ready for Trader Joe's Candy Cane Joe-Joes. I made Oreo Balls with this last year (dipped in white chocolate w/a little peppermint extract.) They went fast! You think TJ's has them in yet? I'm headed this week for a couple things and your post reminds me to add them to the list.

UPDATED: GET TO TARGET AND BUY YOURSELF SOME GINGERBREAD TWIX!!!!! THESE CANDY BARS ARE SOOOOOOOOOO AMAZING!! LOL. I respectfully disagree. I tried them last year and I think ordinary caramel twix are superior. However, if you're a fan of the little chocolate cadbury eggs (the pastel ones with the crunchy coating, not the creme eggs), they now make little round chocolate balls with red, green and white coating. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Trollie, you are evil! I have been resisting those Twix bars and now you've put a major dent in my resolve.
But I did not resisted the gingerbread shake at Red Robin yesterday. MMMmmmmm!

I'm always looking forward to the German goodies that show up at Trader Joe's this time of year that remind me of my childhood in Germany. The Stollen-that wonderful cake that is covered in powdered sugar, and is filled with dried fruit and almond paste, the Brandy Beans (Okay, I didn't have those as a kid, but I sure do enjoy them now)-those are delicious chocolates filled with brandy made in Germany. And those wonderful round cookies that I can't remember the name to that come 6 to 8 in a package. They are white on the bottom and are so delicious. That's what I look forward to the most. We left Germany when I was 6 and every year my Oma would mail us a package at Christmas time filled with these goodies just so we could have a taste of Germany during the holidays. Now sadly she is long gone, but Trader Joe's has come to the rescue! If only they would import the amazing German Gummie Bears I would be filled with joy. The ones made here are nasty and don't taste at all like the ones made in Germany-plus they add food coloring which gives me migraines. In Germany you won't find food coloring in their gummi bears or food, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. Debbie in MD. Although probably not the same as German gummy bears, trader joes sells French gummy animals, bunnies for Easter and I think penguins at Christmas, they might be more natural in food coloring. I love the tjs stollen, my mom makes it every year but now that I live far away this is how I get it. I made it once but it was just too much work! It also makes great gifts :-)

Oh, but the coconut ones were pretty good (coconut caramel). Tasty, in a fake coconut kind of way. My vote for best twix ever, though, were the peanut butter ones with the original butter cookie bottom, NOT CHOCOLATE COOKIE.
