Roberts went with the 3 liberals... Each wrote a dissent. Thanks Susan Collins.... Not!!

This isn’t meant to overturn Roe - it sidesteps it. RvW and CvPP both attest that the state cannot deny the right. This removes the state from the equation. One legal speculation is that they didn’t block it because it will set a new precedent on something that is really not settled. The expectation is that the first case filed will likely get an injunction put in place as it goes up the chain and then will have to be heard.
I’m not saying we aren’t screwed. I’m also not saying I agree. I’m just saying that is the legal discussions happening in several legal groups I belong to.
ETA- I know that is all semantics and the reality is that right now it effectively does overturn RvW at a practical level for any woman in need of an abortion.

I have probably seen 4 instances this morning of people creating bots to over-run the reporting system.

Religious right-wing moronic thinking.

And this is exactly why I will criticize the voters who put these legislators in office so the could write and pass a bill like this one.

I also want to mention that a large percentage of voters who supported this also are screaming about "my body, my choice" when it comes to vaccines and masks and also about "body autonomy". Under his eye. Exactly! I think every blue state in the US should do that for Covid vaccines and see how fast these assclowns change their tune. It has always made me roll my eyes and cringe when the alleged “pro-life” Trumpers I know spout the whole “my body, my choice” thing with regard to the vaccine. FFS people, you can’t have it both ways.

I emailed and called the Office of the President, Vice President and my Maryland Senators and Representatives.
Someone needs to lean hard on Senators Manchin and Sinema. Also, has anyone checked to see if Senator Collins is still deeply concerned?

I also love that we had a pea recently cite communism when speaking of the left.
What's more communisticky than letting neighbor spy on neighbor and "report them" to a shadowy organization?

I check far right as well as other news sources on Twitter and I'm surprised to see Afghanistan outrage on repeat. I thought this would take up a good amount of stories. I guess keeping Trumpsters mad is their brand.

Jen Psaki schools male reporters on the court decision... Why does the president support abortion when his own Catholic faith teaches abortion is morally wrong?" asked one reporter. He believes that it is a woman's right, a woman's body, her choice," said Psaki. "He believes it is up to a woman to make those decisions and make those decisions with her doctor. I know you have never faced those choices nor have you been pregnant. But for women out there who have faced those choices, this is an incredibly difficult thing in the president believes that their rights should be respected. Go ahead. I think we need to move on. You have had plenty of time today." www.rawstory.com/paski-schools-male-reporters-abortion/youtu.be/zB5kAlWhwBA

Such a nice man. I hope he doesn't have a wife or daughters.... Wonder if has intimate knowledge of rape? A Republican state lawmaker(PA) who compared mandatory vaccinations to rape, is facing criticism from a victims rights and sexual violence prevention organization. "In an Aug. 23 post to his verified Facebook page, state Rep. Russ Diamond, R-Lebanon, wrote that “What's it called when someone sticks something into your body against your will?""Or coerces you to let them?" Diamond, who has been critical of the Wolf administration's management of the pandemic, wrote. For the woke crowd: Learn to think. In this analogy, the vaccine is akin to sexual activity, due to the physical nature of both. Voluntary engagement in either is fine. But forcing someone to do either is wrong."As of Thursday morning, and despite the criticism, Diamond has not removed or apologized for the post. Diamond could not be immediately reached for comment. www.rawstory.com/republican-faces-furious-backlash-after-comparing-vaccinations-to/

Read this paragraph This is what I was concerned about either earlier in this thread or the other on this topic. Women are going to be forced to share private health information to defend themselves from this bullshit. And it could come about just because Karen next door doesn’t agree with your politics. It’s infuriating.

I think the abortion part of the bill is bad enough, but deputizing citizens takes things to a whole different level and could have really serious consequences in a lot of different ways.

And, not directed at you revirduba99, but rather addressing the topic in general because I have seen many comments about this on various platforms…but I’m not comfortable weaponizing this type of information, this train of thought. If she, or anyone who voted for this type of crap does have an abortion I can definitely see calling them out on the hypocrisy. On the absolute privilege. And many other things that I’m sure just arent coming to mind right now. But when doing so we need to make sure we don't weaponize the act of having an abortion itself. Does that make sense?

Merge dewryce I was not serious. It just shows how easy it will be for people to attack women. All they have to do, is say it. Then get their medical records and THAT is not ok!
