This part
“There is a well-documented history of indoctrination and sexual abuse perpetrated by religious leaders and clergy people upon children. Abusers within churches and other religious institutions often use events like church or youth-group-sponsored camps and retreats to earn children’s trust and gain unsupervised access to such children in order to commit such abuse.”
Considering there are many more documented cases of this happening than the other. And also the religious related sexual assaults are often swept under the rug.

Good for her. And this, from the Family Research Council, is beyond ridiculous and hypocritical. JFC Ah, the FRC--the organization that hired child molester (and later convicted pedophile and CSAM consumer) Josh Duggar to a high-profile position. Yes, these are people qualified to speak on value systems.

Having more documented cases in religious settings doesn't lessen any abuse happening to a child in or at a drag show. Drag shows should be reserved for consenting adults. Children should not be involved. At all.

While you're at it, explain in your own words how taking a child to an "all ages" drag show is abuse, but taking them to a "breastaurant" like Hooters or an R rated movie is not. Your people are up in arms about drag queen story hour, which is not an adult event. More fake outrage from the right. I say good for Megan for calling out the real perpetrators of abuse and indoctrination - organized religion - who seek ever to shift the blame to others.

I agree all child abuse is horrific.
I am another that has not seen any articles or documented cases brought to light of child abuse occurring at drag shows. And as with with movies there are certainly family friendly shows and adult content shows. The same with comedians and a variety of other entertainment. No one is advocating bring a child to an adult only content show.
People dress up and sing and dance for many types of entertainment. Drag shows, talent show, plays, musicals…if you don’t want to bring your kids then don’t. 🤷🏻♀️
ETA - I. Would be more worried about all the family pictures of dad and the kids posing with a hooter’s waitress with or without a fire arm being visible and can guarantee you would not find such a picture in my possession. I guess it is all what you are comfortable with

Having more documented cases in religious settings doesn't lessen any abuse happening to a child in or at a drag show. Drag shows should be reserved for consenting adults. Children should not be involved. At all. The entire point is that there isn't abuse happening at drag shows. Depending on the show, it's an age appropriate story time in an age appropriate setting and if a show is more sexual it's in a bar..where children aren't allowed and even then the shows are 'adult' because of language, not nudity. You can only be so nude with the body modifiers they are using. The sexual abuse is happening in the church and people of the church are pointing their fingers at drag performers because, well it's the christian way. No one is saying child abuse at drag shows is ok, they're saying don't make up lies about abuse at drag shows that isn't happening and then continue to groom and abuse children in the name of jesus in church and at camps. If abuse were to happen at a drag show it would be taken care of, investigated, and prosecuted fully. Let's do the same for the church. Drag was fine when it was Mrs. Doubtfire, it was fine when it was Shakespearean actors were dressing as women, and in any other number of instances where men have dressed as women in performance roles. Modern day drag is only an issue because of homophobia, it's an art performed largely by gay men and it's a way to throw in some hate without saying 'we hate everyone not just like us' out loud.

Instead, she simply works to gum up the legislative gears with a paste thick with bitter irony. Her pro-LGBT worldview and value system — one might even say, “her religion” — stands so entirely opposed to the state’s conservative majority that she believes obstructionism is the most productive use of her time. Gaslighting at it's finest. I see this from some members of my former religion. Our new "religion" is atheism. Bitch please. I don't demand 10% of your income, make you wear special underwear, and keep track of you after years of inactivity. There is no leadership in atheism for those that do go that route.

But, it all boils down to hate.

Any abuse of children is horrific no matter who does it. Having more documented cases in religious settings doesn't lessen any abuse happening to a child in or at a drag show. Drag shows should be reserved for consenting adults. Children should not be involved. At all. Baptisms in religions should be reserved for consenting adults.
I did not fully understand the concept of baptism at the age of eight. I was not aware that I would be forced to be a sister wife when I died. I was not told I would have a different name in heaven. I was not told my husband would know that name, but I could not know his name. I was not told I had to promise to submit to my husband in the temple. I was not told I had to wear a thin robe over my body while some woman I never met put oil on my body. I was not explained garments, I was not told I would be asked sexually explicit questions from untrained clergy when I turned twelve until the day I married. I did not know I was told lies and half truths about church history by the top leadership in the church.
I was not aware about the decades of sexual abuse cover up until I was an adult. These are just the big cases. I can't imagine how many family cases were never reported because they went through the "repentance process".
There is absolute truth in her legislation.

You aren’t seriously suggesting that this is happening at all ages drag shows? I am still looking for articles and links for this. Please help a friend out and post some, because I am really interested in trying to understand where all this is coming from. I don’t understand the need for legislation, if you don’t want to bring your kids don’t. If you don’t want them to participate then don’t allow it.
Although I will say that I have seen very close to this type of action (and while not topless, they might as well be) at dance competitions, at things like NASCAR, at concerts, at my above mentioned hooters, etc and the only difference is replace the his with her. Just taking kids to the beach is probably more reveling and traumatizing to a kid who is going to be affected by bouncing boobs and the showing of skin.
