I am SO frustrated! Another school shooting, 3 more children gone, and emotional scars for every child in that school. I don't have answers. Sure gun control is a good idea, but the kids I work with every day, aren't screened to purchase a gun. They carry guns that are stolen, belong to a friend or family member, or they "found it". (Not that every school shooter is a teen). How do we stop these kids from GETTING the guns? I mean really, physically stop them. How do we get it into their heads that this is not the answer.
It is so heartbreaking..... as adults, we should know that we should not go out and shoot up a school, or a person. And we should be talking to our kids about the gun violence situation. And as parents, if you suspect anything, search the kids damn room or backpack!
Rant over, I'm sorry, I just feel frustrated that there is nothing WE can actually DO to stop this.

It’s definitely a multifaceted issue but some things that come to mind: make it more difficult to get a gun. You should have to have a background check and register the gun no matter where you live or how you buy the gun. Laws regarding storage and safety. Stiffer consequences if someone obtains your gun. Limit the types of weapons that people can have and how much ammo. Mechanism on the gun that uses a fingerprint to be able to use the gun. There is no reason that we regulate other areas of society more than guns.

Thoughts and prayers... shock and prayers... indescribable pain... the families must be devastated. Am I missing any? I wish our politicians would stop with the rhetoric and do something tangible. I would honestly hope that most responsible gun owners would want this to stop. Of course, some rabid owners, might be the same people who railed against any covid restrictions. It seems to be all about "MY RIGHTS! and less about looking out for innocents. In my mind, they must all be single, orphans with no family or friends living in a dank basement somewhere. How else are they not able to relate? I still can not believe that Steve Scalise is still in favor of non restrictive gun laws after he was nearly killed. www.politico.com/news/2021/04/21/2017-baseball-field-shooting-fbi-conculsion-483993. Of course, this was during the administration of our twice impeached president.

I hate to think this but private Christian school and an adult woman who attended the school nearly 20 years ago. Why do you think she targeted the school? What do Christian schools and groups and churches have in common? Sexual abuse.
Not excusing her actions but I wouldn't be surprised if something comes out about abuse relating to the school. I only say this because I haven't seen anything about a possible motive. My first two thoughts were abuse or custody/divorce.

They are beholding to the NRA $$$$$! Scalise is a jerk.

There are things that can be done to restrict access to guns. Fingerprint or 6 digit code for the trigger, restrictions based on age, universal background checks, gun safety classes, red flag laws, magazine limits etc. Regrettably, politicians don't have the motivation, willpower or courage to pass federal laws.

Of course, the far right is getting a jump on the possibility of that eventual news coming out by saying that whatever medications the shooter may have been on as a trans person caused him to act out in this way.

I think the fact that the murderer was transgender is enough for them. They don't need to blame it on the meds. They will just frame it as transgender people are evil and we must be protected from them. They don't care that about statistics. Almost every other mass shooting at a school has been preformed by a white cis male. The right doesn't care. They will twist this information to fit their narrative. My heart breaks for the families who lost someone. And my heart is preemptively breaking for the families of the next shooting. This will never stop. The right is too powerful and evil to do anything to stop it.

I've been assured that all these shootings are because we "took God out of the public schools." But now it's a private Christian school. Yes and my first thought was what did those religious nut jobs do to that woman as a child, to make her do that?

My local news reported that the shooter is a woman which, I admit, surprises the hell out of me. Not that women CAN'T commit terrible crimes, but I don't know if I've ever actually heard of one being a mass shooter before. I could be wrong. Sometimes I can't stand to read the news anymore, so I might've missed it. Heartbreaking, and yet it's just another day in the life here.

How many more kids need to be slaughtered before something is done? Why no congressional hearings on this? Just more thoughts and prayers that do nothing. And conservatives will be foaming at the mouth that the perpetrator was transgender. So now they have their neat little scapegoat and they will come out against the LGBTQ community even more.
I'm just heart-broken over it all. I hate that this country doesn't give a damn about kids.

The shooter was transgender. The conservatives are going to have a field day with that. I desperately desperately hope that isn't true, and it is just a stupid rumour. Not that it's going to make any difference to the people who have lost their children and loved ones, but we sure as fuck don't want to give the conservatives any more ammunition (pun unintended) against the transgender community. Well at least he didn't have the youngest standing there also holding a gun... Unlike that evil koont Lauren Boebert..... her youngest looks to be around the same age, and she had him holding some kind of assualt rifle in her publicity stunt Christmas photo. Photos like that truly turn my stomach.

The guy who ran against her last time, and came close to beating her, is planning on running against her again.
