What an incredible tragedy for the school and that community.
Perhaps state legislators could focus on actual dangers to children, rather than on drag queens.

A teenage female shooter apparently! Armed with a handgun and 2 assault-type rifles. BBC

Americans need to say goodbye to their kids, every morning when they send them off to school, like they really mean it.
Another day, another school shooting.
NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE unless we change the gun laws.

I've been assured that all these shootings are because we "took God out of the public schools." But now it's a private Christian school.

Reports are now that the shooter was 28 years old, not a teenager.

The CNN news person was talking about fingerprints, which made me think of back in the day -- i.e., when my kids were little -- a lot of communities were doing fingerprinting events so that all our kids' fingerprints would be on file in case of kidnapping. Do parents even worry about that sort of thing anymore? I mean, yes of course parents worry that someone will snatch their kids. But from conversations I have with parents of younger kids in my neighborhood, and from being in an elementary school every week, the main worry today is guns. And specifically school shootings.

Also, I don't know what the solution is. I don't know how we can ever progress past this. Every time this happens people all say "never again" and "this has to stop" and more statements like that. And time after time it goes though my mind that if Sandy Hook didn't do it then nothing will.

The visual that we see every time this happens—of children being led away from buildings in a chain, holding hands…
People see that and still fight against sensible gun control measures with every fiber of their beings. Pose for Christmas card photos holding weapons. Soulless ghouls.

At least the police who responded to this school weren't cowards.
I can't believe this is still happening. WHEN will our government decide that children aren't worth the sacrifice of stricter gun laws?

I'm so frustrated I want to bite someone.

I've been assured that all these shootings are because we "took God out of the public schools." But now it's a private Christian school. Which makes me wonder if this will hit differently, since, you know, Christian kids and all... I don't intend for this to be a heartless response. Once again, innocents are taking the brunt of our sick society. But what is it going to take to make changes to gun laws? My heart breaks for the children, the teachers, and their families. My least favorite human foible is "It doesn't matter to me unless I've been directly affected." Maybe this will make some evangelicals wake the fuck up.

I'm pretty sure there are a whole lot of parents in a tizzy because they put their kids in private school to avoid the shootings that only happen in public schools.

News just said the shooter went to the school. Doesn’t help their excuses. This is so sad! Those poor kids and adults! This shouldn’t be happening anymore. Instead of focusing on book banning and drag queens, they should be focusing on mental health and gun control.

These photos make me sick to my stomach. That parents would actually pose their kids like this in a country where so many children die by gunfire is absolutely disgusting.

I'm so frustrated I want to bite someone. That was my first thought too. The number one cause of death for kids but let’s ignore it. Yes a gun doesn’t shoot on its own but obviously they are too easy to get a hold of as kids are getting them and killing themselves or others. We know mental health issue aren’t being addressed and since they also refuse to address that and make fun of those that are depressed 🤦♀️. There was no reason for the ban to be lifted. This is just nuts. I just can’t believe that it hasn’t be resolved by now.

Nothing about this photo represents Christmas to me, much less Christian or the birth of Christ (if they claim to be Christians who celebrate Christmas.)

WHEN will our government decide that children aren't worth the sacrifice of stricter gun laws? Yes, these police were right on it. Apparently it was just a matter of minutes. And they -- "they" meaning Nashville first responders -- have an integrated plan that includes police, firefighters, paramedics. So they were able to mobilize immediately. And isn't it sad that they even had to put together this plan. I'm very glad that they did because most likely their quick response saved lives, but still... wow.

I've been assured that all these shootings are because we "took God out of the public schools." But now it's a private Christian school. And not only is this a private Christian school, it's a Christian school run by a more conservative denomination. It's a Presbyterian Church in America -- PCA -- school. These are the conservative cousins of the larger PCUSA Presbyterians. So we can assume that God has been invited back into this school.

I guess we all learned from Sandy Hook that guns matter more than kid's lives. If that wasn't enough, what is enough? The leading cause of death for kids is gun violence. Shame on us as a nation.
