I was having shortness of breath, felt like a band around my midsection yesterday and thought it was a reaction to a medication. I went in and had a nebeulizer treatment, which helped. He thinks it was from the fires. Started having at feeling again so I will do my inhaler tonight. I am in the midwest.

Could that be affecting us way down here in Texas? I just received an air quality alert, and I can’t even remember the last time that happened. I'm in DFW and for the past week, my weather app has had an air quality alert. I'm not sure what's triggering it but it's been on for awhile. I’ll have to check in with my family in the DFW area. I’m in a small town a bit outside of SA so I’m fortunate we don’t often have air quality issues. Well, I should say in our area we are fortunate…I avoid outside like the plague as I have real issues with the sun and heat. Yeah, I need to move.

We get it out here almost every summer (Seattle) so I feel badly for this affected. Make sure to close your windows, turn off the ac if you can, and wear a mask if it’s really bothersome. It can get really nasty. Curious why you would say this. I'm relying on my A/C. They don't pull air from outside. Sorry, sorry. Was thinking fans and typed ac!

There's a yellow haze over everything and a funky, chemical smell in the air.
I just realized it is making me very anxious and unsettled--it's the first time climate change has directly, noticeably affected me, and it's like the beginning of the apocalypse.

Accuweather.com has a link called "Health & Activities" that shows respiratory air quality for people with asthma, as well as air quality & any current alerts for your region. For my area (East of Washington, DC near the Chesapeake Bay) today, it shows Likelihood of Asthma as High, Dust and Dander as High, Air Quality as Poor, and a State Air Quality Alert in effect until midnight. It is bad. I am originally from that area too! (Waving "hi") Hope you're somewhere with better air today!

It's affecting our air quality in Cincinnati, OH. I was driving from Northern Kentucky into Cincy today and the skyline is all hazy from the smoke.

The air quality index is 194 here right now. Really unpleasant. I cannot imagine what it must be like closer to the fires.

We have the bad air quality here too and I’m sensitive anytime there is a lot of anything airborne (pollen, dust, smoke, perfume, you name it). It’s especially bad when it’s really windy and a lot of junk is kicked up. When it is bad outside, I keep all the windows closed and count on the A/C to filter some of the crap out of the air as my primary defense. There are springs/summers when I can’t have the windows open at all even if the outdoor temperatures are decent.

I try to tell myself that the upside of keeping the house closed up is that we don't get spiders coming in. Then, one will come in on an Amazon package (yeesh). Be well.

My kids had who knows how much soccer cancelled for fires last year. I am sorry you're dealing with it in the NE.

Used my albuterol this morning. It’s way worse here today in the Rochester NY area. Smoke smell is worse, air quality is too. Staying inside with windows closed

Im in Southern MD, and its bad. Very smoky and hazy.
I am also worried bc I am supposed to head to Niagara Falls in a couple of weeks - which is much closer to the fires. I looked up travel advisories this morning, but I think it is too soon to tell how the air will be.

I know the air quality here has been poor for the past two weeks. There is (was?) a fire in northern Michigan, not far from MIL a couple of days ago. I noticed that the past few days, things looked a little hazy. We have an awful air polluter in town that when the wind direction is just right, it smells awful here.

Air quality alert outside of Chicago today also, and red sunrises/sunsets. Ironically, my daughter in Seattle said yesterday was so clear she could see Mount Rainier and Mount Baker from the beach she was at, so apparently it's not going there this time.

I live in Ottawa and today the Air Quality is 29. It is usually calculated on a scale of 1 to 10. Best 1 Worse 10. All out door sports, and outdoor recesses are canceled and people especially those with breathing problems are being told to stay inside. It is gross. Winds are shifting and it should be a bit better by tomorrow.
ETA - Just saw on Twitter that all crossing guard shifts have been cancelled for this afternoon due to the consistent poor air quality.

It's actually worse in Central NY today - the AQI in my city is now 402 which classified as hazardous. I'm going outside as little as possible but still have bad allergy symptoms and a wicked sinus headache. Sure hope this improves soon for everyone!

Air quality 187 here today (Northern Virginia). Indoor recess for the kids, and no eating outside (since covid we've taken the kids outside to eat when the weather is nice). I'm subbing in the trailers and even just walking to and from them to the main building was bad. It's only 73 degrees here which is definitely not hot enough for the AC, but I turned mine on anyway because of the air quality.

Some haze hanging around and is really noticeable at sunset. Yes! it does not smell like a campfire smoke, it smells like a acrid, chemical burning smell! and it reminds me when we are about to get a hurriance, all hazy and creepy color. Kids have recess inside today and all outdoor athletic fields & pools are closed at 2. I tried to walk with my friend, but she has asthma and when she got to my house, it was too awful for us to try. This morning I have a purple heart drop scheduled and just moving my bags out, I got a headache - its gross.

We had it in Colorado in mid May. Hung around for so long. We took a train ride up a nearby mountain (14,115 feet elevation) and when we hit tree line (around 11,500 feet) all of the smoke was below us and the scenery was gorgeous... for about 7 minutes. That is when the snow started hitting and we went into near whiteout conditions.

I’ve been looking at the number and not the meter. ETA: Sorry for the huge photo! Also, I just checked the weather app on my phone and it says 290 so now I'm really confused.
