Our news has been reporting on the Canada fires long before the smoke drifted down to us. I'm very surprised that our national broadcaster is focussing so heavily on the effect it's having in the US, rather than in Canada. We love Canada here! I just watched another report on this morning's news. The chyron said: CANADA FIRES More than 100 million people in US impacted by fire smoke Can I assume that nobody in Canada is being affected by the smoke? The report again focussed on, and showed video of, the smoke haze in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC. The (Australian) reporter was reporting from the Washington Monument in DC. They then cut to a quick video of the fires, then back to the US where President Biden was telling us he was going to send more help to Canada. So in a three minute news story, they probably showed 20 seconds of footage from Canada. I can't comment on why or why not the Australian press is doing what it's doing. But I can say for sure that the US press has been covering the Canada fires from before the smoke was impacting us.

As a Californian, I’m so sorry for all those dealing with this. I know it’s horrible. Same! And now my back up plan to flee to family in Ontario Canada when it gets too bad here isn't as solid as I thought it was.
