I wanted to leave it up through new years. I love the glowing lights. Everyone in our house but me has covid so I took it all down today in case I end up sick. I cleaned and sanitized all day. So sad I left my one tabletop tree with lights only in my kitchen

I always put everything away on Christmas night. (I decorate on Thanksgiving night). When I decorate, the usual decor gets moved, shifted around, put away in the closet, etc... By Christmas night, I am ready to have everything back to usual. A place for everything and everything in it's place.
By the time the busyness, noise, extra traffic.... of the holiday season (Thanksgiving through Christmas) is over, I am ready for a few days of do nothing, pajamas, everything back to usual, and QUIET ![](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) . And I am definitely ready for there to be no more holiday goodies (fudge, candy, fudge, cookies, fudge, flavored breads, fudge, pie, brownies, etc... did I mention all the fudge? because I cannot say no to a piece of chocolate fudge. This is how I am as well. My front closet is crammed with non-holiday decor that needs to go back into its proper place. I have artwork stored in my walk in closet, plants in my workout room because I had no where to put it with the Christmas decor. It's all kinda driving me nuts now that Christmas Day has passed. I've done nothing about it all today but I suspect tomorrow I get busy and get the decor straightened out and in its proper place.

I’ve just minute finished putting ours away, and have sat down for a cuppa. Not that we have a lot - I had one Christmas tree, lots of Santas (I collect them), and a couple of embroideries I’ve done. I sorted the tree decorations as I took them down - I didn’t use all of them this year and I really liked the tree with fewer decorations, so I’ve put about half in a box labelled with my DIL’s name and I will see if she would like them next year. But it’s lovely to have everything back to normal - I’m very minimalist and although I love seeing all my Santas out, it feels good to see empty space again. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

I’m planning on starting tomorrow. It’s a job that usually takes a couple of days. Everything comes out of the main living areas except furniture so decorating and putting it away is a lot of work. I love Christmas and all the colors and twinkle lights but when it’s over, I'm ready to get things back to normal for the new year. Plus nephew and his husband and other nephew stayed with us this year so the whole house is a disaster. But it was so fun and so worth it.
Outside will have to wait for the weekend and maybe even the next weekend if we decide to go to the beach for New Year’s.
I didn’t do a darned thing today and it has been so nice.

Having a good year here PTSD/Anxiety wise (wish I could say the same medically) so Christmas will stay up till this weekend. Monday it will all come down.
Some years it comes down next day. Other years I wait 2 more days. It all just depends on how I am feeling and thankfully my family (dh, dd, ds) understand this and are okay with when I need it down.

I usually leave everything that isn’t specifically Christmas up until closer to spring. I consider it to be more seasonal than holiday. I like the warmth and glow in the house in the winter. I also usually leave the real tree up as long as possible but this year we put it in a different room. I can’t see it as well and want to get that room put back together so will probably take the tree down soon.

Mine is all down and put away. My 2 children and grandchild that were at my house yesterday took some of it down for me before they left. I finished the rest today. Carpet vacuumed and everything put back in order.

We used to take down our Christmas decor on NY Eve so we'd start the year fresh. Then DH started taking off the week between the holidays and he started doing it on the 27th or 28th. My only rule is it isnt coming down any earlier than the 27th.
Maybe we will work on it tomorrow. I have to separate out ds' ornaments as he hopes to be living in his own home in the next 6 months or so.

I had planned to take down my very minimal decorations today but it was rainy all day so we had the lights on. I'll take them down tomorrow. When I do more extensive decorations, I usually leave them up through New Years day.

Epiphany (Theophany) - it's actually my tradition to do it that evening. But. my Dh's birthday is 12/13 and we don't put it up until after that, so it hasn't been up that long

I didn’t put up the big tree this year, and that’s less to take down. We will be enjoying the rest of the decorations until January 1.
I leave white lights on the mantle year round because I love them so much.

Last year I left the lights on the fence until February, I think. I like them so left them out for a longer time.

When we've gone all out and put up all kinds of decorations, I wanted to start taking things down the day after Christmas. The clutter and the visual "chaos" gets to me and I need it all back to normal. This year, we went minimal. and I really liked it. One bin of decorations, pillows to switch covers, our Christmas quilt on our bed and the tree. I don't feel the need to take things down right away. We have neighbors coming over for drinks on Saturday, so we'll probably keep things up until Sunday.

I only put up the tree (not even any ornaments on it) this year. I’ll probably take it down sometime this week so DD can help me with it since she’s off school. I usually leave some of the plain pine trees and snowmen up longer, some years they never get put away. I think this year I’ll put them away, I’m kind of tired of how cluttered the mantel looks with all that stuff up there collecting dust. Since there’s no snow this year, I might take the lights off of the bushes outside too. The lights on the house along the roofline stay up year round.

I'm another "sometime in the new year" person. The winter is so long and dreary here, and the lights and decorations bring me joy. DD is home from college through Jan. 1, when she leaves for three weeks in London (J-term), so I'll have plenty of time on my hands after she leaves to un-decorate. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Starting 12/26, start putting away things like ceramic Santas, candles, nativity scene, stockings, banister garland, wreaths, window lights, etc. On New Year’s Eve and Day, I put away the tree. I put away the Christmas village the following weekend. Some years, I have that down on New Year’s Day as well.

Don't take away my Christmas house! In the darkest part of the year I love the light and colour my decorations add.
Christmas does not come down around here until after Ukrainian New Years Day (January 14th).

I only put mine up last week because it's been so busy around here. I'm 50/50 on taking it down immediately and letting it stay up longer since it's barely been up at all.

The benefit of not decorating this year... nothing to take down!!!
Last year I signed up for Boy Scout tree pickup. It forced me to take down my tree by the 1st so I could get it on the curb. I liked the forced deadline. But outside lights stayed up until spring. Too cold to take down before then.

I take our decorations down after January 1st. Since our kids are grown and gone, we just put up a tree. I take the tree down soon after January 1st.

Well, I didn’t get much up this year. I only put a few garlands in the tree. I don’t bother to put the tree upstairs because there’s plenty of room & it sits in the corner like a potted tree. ( it is a potted tree ) so I really only have my exterior stuff & I’ll probably take that down next weekend.,
