So, when are we taking down Christmas decorations? I know some keep theirs up til after Epiphany but I know I won't. I usually take it down ASAP as Christmas is over, but I haven't done it yet. I am stuck with wanting to take everything down and let my home breath without all the 'extra' and also kinda sad that the Christmas season is already done (there's just something about all the twinkle lights!).
So when will you take it all down? Are you excited to get it put away?

I'm leaving mine up longer this year because I feel like I just got it all up, lol. Also, my DH helps me with getting it organized and put away in the attic. He is working a different job and doesn't have a lot of free time in the evenings and weekends are busy right now. I'll probably put it up weekend after next.

The last of our visiting family left today (daughter-in-law and two grandsons). It's been a wonderfully chaotic holiday with the three grandbabies and my house is turned upside down. I've done the minimal since they left at about 1 pm today so tomorrow I have to clean and put lots of stuff back where it belongs - the laundry alone is a mountain. So, my priority for the next day or so is getting my house back to how I like it. The Christmas decor will have to wait. I'll probably tackle it over the weekend as I don't like it up past new year. My husband made a comment about enjoying the glow in our family room from two trees this year so it's a bonus that we'll get a few quiet evenings to just enjoy that by ourselves. As mom says, there's just something about all the twinkle lights!

I'll do it this next weekend. I took an extra day off for New Years and will get my house in order for the new year!

I usually put ours away Jan 1. But dd does not go back to Florida until Jan 6 and asked to leave it up until then and I have no problem doing that. So probably Jan 7 it will come down.

Whenever I feel like it. When the kids were young I'd do it just before back to school. Now I do it before New Year's usually but I've had it all up since just after Remembrance Day.

I took ours down today (12/26). I'm off until Jan 2nd and already bored so this gave me something to do today. Rest of my time off I have things every day so it made sense to get it all down today.
I love how clean the house looks after everything is put away. I do miss the lights from the tree though.

My youngest DD, her fiancé and our 2 year old Gdd are staying until NYE. Little Gdd loves the lights etc so they’ll stay until they go but probably come down the very next day 😊

I have been taking down my kitchen, guest bath, dining room, and cleaning up the laundry room that ended up a little glittery. While I've been completing those rooms, I decided to clean the fridge and cabinets in my kitchen. Three bags of Goodwill stuff has been accumulated in those rooms plus my dresser drawers. Feels good to declutter and clean up room by room. Yesterday as I put away my gifts, I also put all of the Christmas wrapping stuff away as well as tackled a few baskets in my closet. I also got a new piece of luggage, so that meant going through that closet full of travel suitcases and accessories. I got rid of three large suitcases and a bunch of tote type bags and neck pillows. I kept four.
I have been taking down and cleaning for 5 hours. I haven't started on the three more decorated rooms.

I take the tree down after Epiphany. That’s my only Christmas decoration.

It’s staying up until after new years. We do keep some lights all year and I have a couple of battery powered sets up. I’m dreading taking the tree down as we are going through the ornaments. I was thinking DS would go it as we put the tree up but nope he wants to do it after. Ok. It’s not going to be fun. We have a lot of ornaments that I have no attachment to but many that I do. So it will be interesting to see the ones he wants to keep. Between the two of us we probably won’t get rid of as many as I would have thought.

Christmas isn’t over yet for me. I have two more families to get together with here at my house, so there are still wrapped gifts under the tree.
I never take all the decorations down right away. I love the way the house looks, and I love all the lights.
I used to like it all down and the place cleaned up before school started up after break, but now that I’m retired, I don’t feel like there is that deadline. I also have some stuff that stays up for quite a while, as it’s more "winter" than Christmas.
My decorations have all been up since the end of November, but it’s a lot of work so the longer I keep them up, the more it feels worth it.
I also kind of can’t believe that it’s already the day after Christmas. Those last days before always seem to go really fast and then I blink and it’s the 26th.

I got mine up later than usual this year because I subbed in 3rd grade for two weeks and was just too tired to do anything when I got home. lol. I also got rid of a lot of stuff as I went through the bins, so what I have up is all stuff I enjoy. So I'm not in a hurry to put it away. And I love the lights in the morning when I get up. I'm always up by 5:00 or so when it's still dark, and the only lights I put on are the tree and another twinkle lights arrangement we have.
In the past I've always left everything up until Epiphany, but during covid we put decorations away but left the tree and outsides lights up for a long time afterwards. They're cheerful. So who knows when I'll put those away.

I will leave up until Epiphany. I collect Nativities, so the season isn’t finished until then.

We'll take it down New Year's weekend. Hubby & I will be creating a Christmas plan for next year so I am going to photograph how we have it all decorated now, and then we'll discuss what we liked & didn't like + set reminders in our phone for next year so we know when we need to buy fresh garland, etc. This was our first Christmas together, and some things didn't get set up early enough and some things we didn't realize we needed or wanted until a couple weeks into the season.

I always put everything away on Christmas night. (I decorate on Thanksgiving night). When I decorate, the usual decor gets moved, shifted around, put away in the closet, etc... By Christmas night, I am ready to have everything back to usual. A place for everything and everything in it's place. By the time the busyness, noise, extra traffic.... of the holiday season (Thanksgiving through Christmas) is over, I am ready for a few days of do nothing, pajamas, everything back to usual, and QUIET . And I am definitely ready for there to be no more holiday goodies (fudge, candy, fudge, cookies, fudge, flavored breads, fudge, pie, brownies, etc... did I mention all the fudge? because I cannot say no to a piece of chocolate fudge.

The inside will come down this week. We have a real tree, so we need to get that out to the curb this week for trash pickup. And since we are taking down the tree, I'll take down everything else too. We usually take down the outside lights by New Year's eve. I feel like leaving it up for an extra week only because the HOA is already telling homes to remove their outside decorations ASAP after Jan. 1st.

I got up this morning and took most of it down before I had breakfast! By 9:30 a.m. it was down and put away by 10! It does feel good to have it down, but our house is so dull without the touches of red throughout it!

Probably taking everything down after New Year's. My DH wants to do a "purge" after we take everything down and bring all the totes from the attic down and go through them. Not really looking forward to that but it will feel good once it is done.

I’m hosting our extended family Christmas on Thursday so it won’t come down until after that. I’ll take my inside decorations and tree down on Saturday and will leave my lights up until January.
