12th night - the evening of 5th January. But we're having a Candlemas service this year, on 28/1 instead of 2/2, and traditionally decorations were kept up until then. The Queen took hers down at Candlemas.

Late. We do a lot of our celebrating after the 25th of December, including Orthodox Christmas, so for those reasons, we leave it up for quite some time. This year Orthodox Christmas is Jan. 7th, so we will not take any of it down until after that.
I'm slightly obsessive about the "proper" packing of the ornaments, so I will work on that during the week, and then the weekend of 13/14th if anything still needs to be brought back to the attic, we'll finish doing that then.

Everything except a few winter and snowmen put away today. So glad it’s done.

I think I will take it all down next weekend. I’m too worn out right now to even think of doing it this weekend! I do look forward to the extra space I’ll have once the tree is down and put away.

So when will you take it all down? Are you excited to get it put away? I took it down and put it away this morning, first thing after my coffee.
But, I only had one tree.
And four stockings.
I don't decorate a lot because I don't like cleaning it all up.

I had my son bring the boxes up from the basement yesterday. I moved them into the rooms they need to be in today. At this rate, I may be one of those people who doesn’t get my trees down until waayyy past the holiday. Lol.

I decorate really early, start Nov. 1st. Have it all taken down and put away by days end Dec.26th. I leave the garland on my living room fireplace, switch out the red and green ornaments for white, silver and gold snowflakes and leave in thru the end of January. Nice bit of brightness thru the colder dreary month

I took down all of my decorations and took down my two trees today and got everything put away. I put my trees up and decorate in early November, so I got to enjoy it for quite a while. The second half of this year was pretty difficult for me, so I wanted to start the New Year with a fresh start by getting my house all cleaned up and back in order.

I got everything done by 6 pm today (NYE). The village takes a long time to pack up and put away. I keep vacuuming up the fake snow.

We were traveling this year, so didn’t put much up. But now that we’re home, I’m so sick. All those coughing people on the plane, ugh. I’ll get it done later this week once I’m feeling better.

We take down our decor the 1st weekend after Christmas. I like to start the new year fresh and clean, so we do a deep clean as well. We're usually too tired to celebrate the New Year from all of the cleaning.

Started this morning. Dh started outside since rain is coming back tomorrow through Wednesday. I just took care of the kiting room. Now dh is working on taking down the village under the tree and the Lionel train. After my Michigan game, and while I watch the second conference game, we will begin to box up all our Hallmark ornaments. Then the tree will go down.
I am ready. With the new year here I am ready for a reset!

We have super scaled back Christmas decor since it's just DH and I on Christmas day. He had never helped with decorating the tree and since the kids are grown & flown, it feels like a LOT. We do put up a few winter things and also winter blooms like amaryllis and paperwhites, some winter candles, etc. This means we can leave it until the weather says spring is near. Where we do continue to decorate for Christmas is with outdoor lights. We live across the street from the town park where the annual town Christmas tree lighting is, so we always set a goal to have the outdoor lights set before that date. We usually put them up on a nice fall day, but don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving. We'll leave them lit until 12th night and take them down when there's a really nice day weatherwise. When do you thin out the Christmas collection? Now or wait until next season? I know the kids act like we can't get rid of what they feel are decorating traditions from their childhood, but they also don't want them for themselves. I don't want my life to be sold in $2 box lots at an auction after I'm dead so I'm paring down a ton of stuff. When I pull stuff out to decorate I go through it all every year. I got rid of so much stuff last year I couldn't believe it. There was no reason to be holding on to it all as it never got put out. Every year I found myself going back to the same decor. Last year I posted 2 huge totes on our city FB page and was so happy to see it leave my house.

I took mine down on Sunday 12/31 and it's all put away again. I love the first few days after I take it down because my normal decor suddenly feels so fresh and uncluttered.
