Personally I’m ready to take down the ones that are causing clutter on my bookshelves and the stockings handing. I’m good with the lights outside and the tree until after the new year. Taking down the tree stinks since you have to wrap each and every ornament lol.

I may start this week, but the tree won't come down until after New Years, because I have a hockey tournament out of town with DGS. I normally take it down on New Years Eve.
My white outdoor lights stay up and on until the end of January.
I plan to leave battery operated candles and lighted branches that are on timers up longer. I enjoy the glow during these very dark winter days.

I usually leave mine through the new year. Then take them down the first week of January. Same

After Epiphany. Most likely on 08 January. I'm not excited at all to take it all down. The house always seems so cold and bare the first little while after everything is put up.

I am not even thinking about it. Tradition is the tree would stay up through March, easily, because it was real. The first year it happened, things were too hectic to get the tree taken down. Being a real tree, it started putting on new growth. The next year we wanted to see if it would happen again. So, the tree just stayed up. We must have had 15 of the trees put on new growth. A beautiful color and so soft.
We ended up with a fake tree after I went to work full-time. No time to care for a real tree properly. But, the trees continue to stay up for quite awhile.

I don't go back to school until January 8th so I'll probably keep them up until sometime between Jan 1-7.
I don't know why people take them down the next day. That is so depressing. I like drawing out the holiday season a little longer.

Today. It's all in the dining room waiting for the guys to bring into the attic. Once Christmas is over, I like the house back in order fairly quickly

Last year, my tree was up until JUNE. Yep, you read that right! JUNE! No on ein the family cared to help me take it down so I just left it up until I couldn't stand it anymore! And what got to me was that our nice, new Christmas tree was getting DUSTY! LOL!! DH bought be biggest damn tree he could find. It's a pain to put up and take down.
I threw out minimal decorations this year. Wreath on the door and some stockings. That's it. At first I felt bad about not having it all out there but I am kinda relieved now. DDs are college age. So, I'm almost done putting stuff away! LOL

Today I put away all the Christmas decorations that I had in every room except for the 2 Christmas trees. I'm waiting for amazon to deliver some compartment ornament boxes tomorrow so I can start working on taking the trees down. After I'm done with that I'll start dusting and cleaning and putting my house back in order. Hoping to get it all done by the weekend.

DSO said last night "You can take the trees down on the weekend" but I pushed back on that idea. I don't know why he is always to keen for me take down the tree straight away. I like to keep it up for at least a week after Christmas. It's makes me happy to look at. I might keep my outdoor tree up even longer.

I didn't put up much Christmas decor this year--too much going on with finishing grad school, graduation, work, end of semester stuff, etc. Yesterday and today I washed all the linens and dishes. Today I packed up everything except the tree. I need to catch up on the ornament scrapbook so I want to double check that I've taken pictures of all the ornaments. So the tree is still up and will be until I get that photo project done. The outside lights are still up but I will probably take them down this weekend.
I've got snow/snowman decor to put up and I'm going to add in some lights-both string lights and battery operated candles. I'll have one of my kids get that box while the Christmas and fall boxes are being put away in the shed.

Ours is always up until after the New Year. Once that hits, I want it all gone. My dh is the decorator and I’m The Grinch, so he’s be happy to leave it up for weeks. Nope. I want things back to normal by the time I return to work in January.

I'm never in a hurry but usually get it down by 12th might. Last year however I left it up an extra 2 weeks as I was feeling low, and the decor helped a little. My grandson is here until the 2nd so I'm doing minimal housework until he's gone ( enough to keep things nice but no deep clean/laundry).

I usually take down the day or two after Christmas. But I have been sick since the Thursday before Christmas.. so I haven't done squat much less think about Christmas... There is laundry, dog hair, dishes, dust, dog hair.. I feel like I'm living in some horror Christmas disgusting house right now. Today is the first day back to work (only day I work this week) so if I survive today, I'll be cleaning for the next long weekend.

When I was a kid there was a year we had the tree up until Easter. Then my father threw out the whole tree, lights, stand and ornaments. That story was legendary in my house, and even when it happened I remember everybody thought it was hilarious.
I wanted to take it down practically the day after Christmas. Love the tree, loved the whole process of getting decorating and etc but I want my space back. However, a certain somebody insists that the earliest we can take it down is January 2.

I am enjoying it, but I will start slowly taking it down over this weekend. I usually wait until after January 1, but the lights burned out on the small tree in the living room, and we are getting rid of it. I will at least get it taken care of and those ornaments put away. I may leave up the big tree until the 1st.

We have super scaled back Christmas decor since it's just DH and I on Christmas day. He had never helped with decorating the tree and since the kids are grown & flown, it feels like a LOT. We do put up a few winter things and also winter blooms like amaryllis and paperwhites, some winter candles, etc. This means we can leave it until the weather says spring is near.
Where we do continue to decorate for Christmas is with outdoor lights. We live across the street from the town park where the annual town Christmas tree lighting is, so we always set a goal to have the outdoor lights set before that date. We usually put them up on a nice fall day, but don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving. We'll leave them lit until 12th night and take them down when there's a really nice day weatherwise.
When do you thin out the Christmas collection? Now or wait until next season? I know the kids act like we can't get rid of what they feel are decorating traditions from their childhood, but they also don't want them for themselves. I don't want my life to be sold in $2 box lots at an auction after I'm dead so I'm paring down a ton of stuff.

Mine's unfortunately been down since Dec 10th. Some things were said to me and it just shattered my Christmas spirit and I took it all down. It's been down longer this year that it was up. Usually by the 26th I'm ready to take it down. I like to go into the new year with a reset house, but by then I'm usually ready for it to be put away.

Taking down the tree stinks since you have to wrap each and every ornament lol. I do this too. I first wipe each one off, because they have been hanging for about one month. Most of my ornaments are the round, solid color, shiny bright kind. So between wiping each one off ( about 160 ) and wrapping each one, it takes a while.

Growing up, my mom refused to decorate for Christmas before my birthday on 12/12. It always sucked having a birthday in December and I (now) really appreciate that she was insistent on keeping my & my twin brothers birthday separate from the holiday. I'm glad that your birthday was kept as a special day. Good for your mom for being so considerate. IDk, mine is NYD and I demand to have my gifts under the tree! How funny that you would have a NYD birthday. My ddil has a NYD birthday as well. She made it quite clear that her birthday and Christmas are separate events. I have made sure that her birthday has absolutely no hint of Christmas at all. I had the following floral arrangement sent to her today as the florist received their fresh floral delivery today. Better early than forgotten. Please enjoy the picture of this arrangement as an early Birthday card to you from your Canadian friend What a lovely arrangement! Tell her Happy Birthday from a fellow Capricorn! ❤️
