They are fabulous boys5times. If you don't make them to sell, I certainly think there would be a ready market.

They are fabulous boys5times . If you don't make them to sell, I certainly think there would be a ready market. I just LOVE the creative factor of choosing materials, colors, etc. and sewing. I did create a website to sell, but have never pushed it, advertised, etc. or put much time into it. I've probably made over a dozen new bags since I updated it. The taking pictures and uploading and writing descriptions is not the fun part for me. I do a big craft market once a year the week before Thanksgiving, and that's it. I do have people that have previously bought that come back for more. But I make bags just because I love doing it.

End of week two and it’s starting to look like a sweater. Yoke and one sleeve done - I just need to bind off, but it needs a sewn bind off and I didn’t have the energy to look it up last night. This week I am aiming to finish the second sleeve and start on the body. I decided to do the sleeves first so I know how much yarn I have left for the body and can make it a bit longer if possible.

You really made progress this week sueg! I have had a lot of time, what with our freezing weather and no call ins to work. I decided to make the most of it.

I really should take a photo today! I’ve made it to repeat 6 in my Briar Rose Afghan (hooked on sunshine patterns). Somebody in the group had posted one they did 7 repeats with the same brand yarn I am using. But they used 5 cakes and I only have 4 - so I’m waiting to see how far I get with this 3rd cake - I think 6 repeats will be the last because there are 6 rows of repeat before you start the border on your last go. But it’s looking so pretty!
Ive given up on the idea of a temperature blanket for now - DH and I are really trying to scale back on $$ spending g and I have enough projects planned to keep me busy for at least a couple years lol. Maybe 2025?

I am feeling so sad, about 3 weeks ago, the owner of our LYS sent an email telling everyone to get the shingles shot because she hasn’t been in the store because she had gotten shingles and was having a hard time.
Today, her daughters sent out an email saying that she developed complications from Shingles, has to be hospitalized and she passed away yesterday. I am shocked and saddened.
I’ve been going to her beautiful yarn shop & of course have known her for years.

I turn 50 in April and will be there as soon as I can to get the shingle shot. I don’t want to take ANY chances with that mess. I’m so sorry disneypal for the loss of your friend.

Ok finally took some photos! Yarn is Cotton Kings, Rose Tourmaline - took some getting used to the 4 strands but I love how soft and drape-y it is shaping up to be!

My goal for January was to focus on the pile of UFOs in the sewing room, as well as to spend 30 min. a day in there working. It's amazing the progress you can make in just 30 minutes if you are consistent with it day in, day out! DUH! . So far I have done the mending, finished a zip bag for a birthday gift (that involved massive ripping out), completed 3 more lined drawstring gift bags and 4 pairs of shoe bags for DD. The fifth pair is almost done but I need to run to Joann's for a ribbon that matches. I've also reorganized all the drawers in there. Next up is hemming five more napkins and sewing another zip bag (already cut out). Here are the latest finishes: Shoe Bags: 3 left fabrics are Japanese cotton/linen (Echino, Sevenberry). The French bulldogs is Japanese cotton, but don't know the company. Lined Drawstring Bags - 2 wine bags and 1 Everyday bag. The wine bags will be used for hostess gifts, the other will be for Christmas gifts 2024.

I am always just so in awe of everyone's projects here...we have such a talented group of people!! I had a good yarn score today. I had a $10 rewards coupon from Michael's and I found some Scarfie Yarn on clearance for $5 (usually $12). I got 2 skeins to make a prayer shawl and used my rewards coupon, so I basically got $24 worth of yarn for free...I love when stuff like that happens.

Patter & jeremysgirl - I’m almost done my current HOS Briar Rose. I have Lion Brand mandala that I bought - some for a Whatcha and some for a Thingie - which would be easier to do? I’ve done two DooDad with that type of wool, and Briar is a 4 ply Cotton Kings. I have Panda Yarn from Canada that is the same 4 ply separate strand for both patterns as well, but I want to try them with the twisted yarn first. Both are classified as easy peasy with a few tricky spots. Any one you prefer over the other?

I have taken a break since my arthritis has been so bad. I have been cross stitching which doesn't bother me as much (not so much wrist movement). Can't wait to see your pieces!

Week 3 progress. I now just need to finish the body. I have knit 25cm and need to get to about 38-40cm then 5 cm of ribbing. IRL it is much more green than the picture shows. I am getting impatient for this to be done, both because I want to be able to wear it while it’s still cold and also because I just signed up for a test knit of a children’s sweater, which I will make for granddaughter Lucia.

**GypsyGirl** ~ It will probably end up being a gift. My mom had made quilts for my kids when they were in highschool for their *wedding quilts*. My dgs is an avid fisherman so this will most likely end up being given to him when he leaves home to be on his own. A LOT of fabric paper piecing and not the best instructions either. Judy has made up her own language and it is difficult to learn and comprehend while putting together a quilt.

I hope you guys don't mind but I think I need to step away for a couple of days, maybe a week. I've been in quite a funk the last couple of weeks and I'm having a hard time just keeping up with everything. Usually a mood like this doesn't last more than a few weeks so hopefully it'll be lifting soon. But I just can't seem to keep up the communication.
