…my son has no idea what he wants, and he cried his eyes out last night, worrying that he doesn't have time left to get a letter to Santa, and even if he could send one right then… he had no idea what to ask for.
I tried to calm him down, said he could write anytime, we can email Santa, and it's OK if there is nothing in particular he wants - he can let Santa pick out a few gifts to surprise him with. I don't know if he's feeling any better about it or not.
We have a few things we have picked up for him, but not everything. I guess I've been holding back a bit though, figuring that sooner or later he would find something he wants. Now I am not sure that will happen.
So… what does your 10 year old want? Because I might need to figure out what my son wants for him.

My 9yo DS asked for and ipod touch and a few video games. He did not have anything else he could think of. It's such a hard age and with technology, it seems like kids don't play with anything other than video games, ipods and computers.

How about Astronaut Academy comics/graphic novels? I've heard nothing but good things about them and I think for a 10 yr old, they'd be perfect.

he's the right age for K'nex- DH and DDs loved them. We have several different sets, and DD#1 and her fiance will sometimes build stuff with our sets when they're here.

I have a 10 year old boy and he's basically only into Nascar, so we got him a bunch of diecast cars. With that being said, I didn't want his entire Christmas to be nothing but little cars, but I wasn't sure exactly what else he would be interested in. I thought board games, but I wasn't sure which ones he would be interested in. So I took him to the toy store and he and I just walked around. I could tell what things he was interested in and what things he wasn't. It was a good starting point for me. We ended up getting him the games Bounce Off and Perfection, he is getting new bedding for his bed (he loves the Philadelphia Eagles), a Hess truck and new shoes. We got him a bunch of other stuff, but most of it is related to Nascar. At Target they had this really cool toy that the kids had to build a circuit panel to make a light bulb light up. I thought it was pretty neat. What about a remote control car, truck, helicopter, Air Hogs has some really cool things out right now or a tablet computer (my boys love theirs and I didn't spend a fortune on them). My mind is pretty blank right now, but if I think of anything else, I will chime in.

Snap Circuit Sets are great and you can build on them with others if he likes them. Mine also liked various Science Kits at that age. eta: mini remote control helicopters were a big hit too!

My 9 yr old is getting a rubix cube, board game 7 Wonders, minecraft stuff, football stuff, and computer / XBOX games.
But honestly, he's struggling to come up with ideas. He says that he'd be happy to donate all his toys this year because there's very little that he really wants enough to put on a list.

Our boys are 8 and 10. The 8 year old had a list 5 pages long but the 10 year old had a hard time giving us one page of ideas. They both asked for a lot of WWE figures and Minecraft toys. The 8 year old wanted a bunch of Walking Dead toys. They both asked Santa for a red IPod Touch.

I have a 10 year old boy. This is a VERY Minecraft Christmas! Here are some things he is getting: - Minecraft Lego sets and all of the action figures (available at Target... Legos I believe are sold out at this point) My Grandma and Aunts are giving him the paper block sets, to pair with his mini figures (and bonus, it'll also give him something to do). - Huge Nerf gun w/ spare darts. I used to be very anti-toy gun but I have softened in my 11+ years as a parent - Rollerblades (the #1 thing on his wishlist) - The new Wii U Toad game - New lacrosse bag, gloves & elbow pads. He's a huge lax player. Does your son play any sports? - This year (5th grade), all of a sudden he's very into sneakers. The boys talk in school and check out what is on one anothers feet He's being surprised with 2 pairs of Jordans Hope that helps a little!

Yes it really works. It does work better on smoother surfaces though. Our walls are a pretty rough texture, so my DS uses it on the doors and smoother areas and on the floors. It's pretty cool.
