How cool is this?? It's awesome the peas were able to help you track down this family. I would love to have something like this belonging to my parents. Please update when you get a hold of the family.

My parents have a box of old love letters from when my dad was overseas in their attic. I hope I get them some day.
I am so happy you have located family members. Keep us posted!

How cool! I love things like that. I hope the links Linda found help in your search! I *just* finished a book with this kind of a premise. It was called One Lavender Ribbon, by Heather Burch. It was REALLY good! I was reading a few replies before answering myself...I am reading this book right now!! lol Very similar story. It's a good book!! I finished it (like, the last quarter of it) on a flight last week, and was quietly (thankfully) crying the entire time. DH and the flight attendant thought I was crazy. LOL!

I bet that is the house my father found the letters in. I remember he said it was by the lake in downtown. I wonder why they were shoved up in the attic? I don't know if there was anything else up there...I don't think so. I don't speak to my father anymore so I can't ask him anything. I'm thinking these people aren't going to see my Facebook message since they came up with the "other" folder. I guess my next step is writing actual letters.

Try sending them a facebook friend request and put the message in there - they are more apt to see that notification! You can add a message in the friend request so just copy the message you wrote earlier into it!

Because of this thread I'm reading "One Lavender Ribbon" that was mentioned earlier. So far I'm liking it.
And I'm anxious to see where this real-life story leads.

What about contacting the person who wrote the article? She may want to do a follow up article about what happened to Alice. She might even orchestrate the family getting the letters back!

Me too! And the grave information was just added in January, which explains why I never found her all those times I checked Find A Grave. Serious super sleuthing here! I never thought of trying the Add Friend thing. I will definitely do that. The article is so awesome.

I am just finding this thread, as well, due to being on vacation for several weeks. I also read One Lavender Ribbon on vacation. LOL. I hope you are able to get in touch with some of the descendants. I think you should make copies of whatever you want, as well.
