I don't know how to put a picture on here, but I found a photo of her in 1939; the yearbook at Orlando High school was dedicated to her that year, with a lovely photo and dedication. I'd be happy to email it to someone who's more tech savvy than I am, so that it can be posted here. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) That sounds really nice. I have tried to contact the people mentioned here, but no one can even respond to me. It's frustrating and I'm feeling a little protective and pissy. If she was the "first wife", then I could go through all the trouble of sending them the letters (and losing them myself) only to have them tossed. I don't know how much I want to force it, because then I might have to follow through with people who don't seem to give a damn anyway. Does that make sense?

It looks to me as if they are both buried in Alice's (Marsh) family plot, where there is a single headstone and various footstones to show where each family member is buried. I'm guessing the reason his is fancier than Alice's is because he had a brief remarriage after she passed, and I'll bet the second wife wanted to make his special.
Fascinating story, the whole thing. If you ever scan those letters and post them somewhere, I'd love to read them. I'm happy to see that they married and spent a lifetime together. That's a happy ending for them.

I'd just hang on to them and try again some time in the future. I had a bible once that didn't belong to my family...it was full of memorabilia. The first few times I tried to find an owner for it I had no luck. Third time was the charm and I wound up mailing it across country to a family member who was enormously grateful to have it. And at a perfect time, too. There was a death in their family soon after they received the bible and she brought it with her when the family was all gathered so everyone could see it and she said it really helped everyone to talk about some wonderful old memories.

So, how far along are you with that book? Lol! So I've been thinking about this. I know you are getting frustrated with their seemingly lack of interest. Maybe she isn't following up because she thinks you are a scammer.
Since you know loosely where the children live, try contacting the local newspaper or even television station. This is just the sort of human interest story that they will eat up! You can control your involvement to your comfort level. They'd probably even attempt to contact them for you. It's worth a try?

Each time I send a message, I include a photo of one of the letters on the Sanatorium letterhead, so they will be able to see I'm not a weirdo and also verify the names. My next step I guess would be to pay $1 to get my message into his inbox. Or send one mass message to the whole freaking family on Facebook.

Kind of related to this story in a way - I found a family member by marriage on Ancestry.com. I had inherited his grandmother's china, and a whole bunch of photos including those of his parents and grandparents, and they only came to me through my stepfather. He had no bio children so when he died my mom had all his family things and she passed some things to me. I made contact with his nephew and arranged to send him all the photos. Then I arranged to meet up with him and gave him the china and a table that belonged to his grandmother. He had nothing that had belonged to them as the family had become estranged when his mom remarried when he was a child. Now it is back in the family where it originated and he can pass it on to his grandchildren.
My point is that sometimes someone will turn up who would really appreciate the stuff. As you have experienced it takes vigilance. Maybe you can get on Ancestry.com and see if anyone is on there who has this family as relatives. Then you can contact them through ancestry.com. If you aren't a member do it during one of their trial periods.

I really hope the letters can find their way to a family member that will cherish them.

I took my own suggestion and looked on Ancestry.com for people with Alice Marsh Kingsbury in their family tree and immediately popped up a man named Ken Kingsbury who lives in Garland, Texas. He is active on ancestry.com so if you want, you can pm me your contact info and I will send it to him. He has all of Alice's family tree and all of her children, who apparently are all living. If this is something you want me to do, just let me know. Otherwise, you can contact him yourself. This is the info listed for him if you google his name: edited out by request. PM sent. By the way, how can I tag someone in a post?

How neat! Just saw this thread, but haven't read through it. I hope you find her relatives. My husband loves that kind of thing. He saves every card her receives (my friend and I were just talking about how husbands are so good at holding on to pieces of their past). I bet a grandson would treasure those letters!

Hope you can find someone in the family who's interested in the letters. I've been researching my family history and have to agree with others that people do react differently to things. I made contact with one cousin of my Mum's who want very interested in any information or keeping in touch but one of his son's has been exactly the opposite. Hope you get a breakthrough soon ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)
