I have tried friending the granddaughter but haven't heard back yet. It seems that I might have to send snail mail.
Does anyone have a theory as to why Alice's grave marker is so much plainer than Larry's? Just for fun?

When I lived in Orlando, I walked by that house many, many times. This thread is too cool!

Okay, I wanted to be sure so I did this twice. I messaged the granddaughter (alleged granddaughter I guess) on facebook and also sent her a friend request. My message was ignored and the friend request was canceled. I thought maybe I canceled the request, so I sent another to be sure. That one was also canceled, so I know she saw it. I sent her another message asking her to please just let me know if she is not part of the family, and she will not answer. She's a senior admin assistant at The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, so I am assuming her reading skills are adequate. This is strange. What if Alice Marsh was awful and they all hate her, and that's why her gravemarker is plain and boring compared to Larry's? I suppose I will go another route.

I bet that is the house my father found the letters in. I remember he said it was by the lake in downtown. I wonder why they were shoved up in the attic? I don't know if there was anything else up there...I don't think so. I don't speak to my father anymore so I can't ask him anything. I'm thinking these people aren't going to see my Facebook message since they came up with the "other" folder. I guess my next step is writing actual letters. What about contacting the person who wrote the article? She may want to do a follow up article about what happened to Alice. She might even orchestrate the family getting the letters back! I have a friend who's the entertainment writer for the Orlando Sentinel. He may know the lady who wrote the article. I could reach out to him.

I saw in Dr. Kingsbury's obit that his son lives near here, in Largo. I did a search on Pinellas County Property Appraiser's site and came up with this.
KINGSBURY, JOHN A KINGSBURY, PATRICIA 14434 TANGLEWOOD DR LARGO FL 33774-5025
ETA: There is a Patty Kingsbury on Facebook and her profile says she lives in Largo. Maybe reach out to her? Her friends list has Tim Kingsbury (retired) and Betsy Kingsbury (Maitland). Maybe Betsy is Tim's wife?

i never see messages when someone friends me. May they just automatically delete it. What about looking into HER family... siblings, nieces or nephews.

What a fabulous story of Peas helping Peas! I love the super-sleuth peas. Can't wait to read the "rest of the story." (Anyone else remember the radio stories that always had that line?)

Oh I love this thread! When and if you are able to reunite the letters and the family I hope you tell them how much they've meant to you!

Lawrence and Tamara were divorced in April of 1989, a year before he died (per Orlando Sentinel), but then she's listed as his wife in his obituary. Interesting.

I don't know how to put a picture on here, but I found a photo of her in 1939; the yearbook at Orlando High school was dedicated to her that year, with a lovely photo and dedication. I'd be happy to email it to someone who's more tech savvy than I am, so that it can be posted here.

I always feel so sad when I come across old photo albums or family pictures at flea markets. Hope you find a connection to your letters. Yes, I feel the same way when I see old photos at flea markets. OP, I can understand why (in a way) you hope that you don't find the family, yet in another way, it would be interesting to find them and learn more about Alice. There may be someone in her family who would be thrilled to have those letters. Good luck! ETA: I didn't realize that this thread has been around awhile and of the info that's been found so far. Like others, I'd like to hear "the rest of the story." This is awesome!

Guinea Hen, my friend is an attorney in Key Largo. (Not the same as Largo, I'm assuming.) Anyway, if there is anything you'd like me to ask her to do in the way of research or contact, please let me know.

Anyway, if there is anything you'd like me to ask her to do in the way of research or contact, please let me know. No, Key Largo is the start of the keys, so way south. Largo is in my neck of the woods, west-central, just south of Tampa. Interestingly enough, I was in the Lake Eola area a week ago and this story crossed my mind. I was wondering if anything had happened as well.
