Anything off the wall about you?
Mine is: I work for a textbook publisher and my cat is a textbook model. The guy in my avatar has his picture in three different science textbooks.

I can pick things up with my toes as well as with my hands. I guess I am just too lazy to bend over. I was a state baton twirling champion. I realize I am very boring!

I used to work as a knifethrower. Cool!!
I don't have anything that exciting but.. I was born in the same small hospital as Cher On a dare one time...I jumped into a huge pool of mashed potatoes (radio contest). I had mashed potato residue in my car for WEEKS afterwards!

I agree with imsirius. I have never had a cup of coffee. Had a few sips once and hated it.
I haven't had a beer since about age 16 ! Hated the taste of it, but hey - I was 16.

I fall unconscious without warning I've had every type of test to figure out why this happens and all that they can come up with is "stress related" It has kept me from working my very stressful teaching job since 2008 ...

My sister and I grew up in a very small town in east Tennessee. We both went to the National Spelling Bee, in 1979 (me) and 1982 (her). So far, we're still the only two from that town to do so.
This was back before the competition is as fierce as it is today. Now the kids seem to memorize huge dictionaries, take lessons in Greek, Latin, and other languages so they can recognize the roots of words from the sounds and definitions, etc.

Of my parents' 11 grandchildren, I gave birth to the biggest ( 9lb. 2 oz) and the smallest (3 lb. 7 oz).
Also, my daughter shares a birthday with two of her cousins. One of her cousins was born on the exact same day, eight hours apart. The other cousin, sister to the same-day cousin, was born two years later on the same date.

Seriously? When my mom was in her late teens she met my dad who was a carnival barker. She worked for awhile as the girl on the spinning wheel that the knifethrower threw knives act.
I am pretty borning/vanilla now. But, I grew up on a commune called the Magic People when I was in early elementary.

I have trophies for racing cars on tracks and both types of rallying- dirt and regularity. I no longer drive in "normal" traffic though.

I rode on a 747 from Germany to JFK with only one other person before (and it was a hot guy my age)... it was FUN... we played cards and basically drank our way back to the US.
I won a new windshield from a radio station. The kick was you had to smash in your old one (here in Colorado windshields get replaced a ton with all the rocks hitting the cars).. so I went with my boyfriend (now DH) with his newly restored 240Z (with a broken windshield) and smashed it. (DH was REALLY concerned about the paint job..lol)
I moved to LA from Kansas City when I was 19 with $500 and my girlfriend to start new jobs. Neither one of us had no business or money to do so. lol
Really not all that impressive stuff...

Wow... Reading these makes me feel like I've led a very boring life! The only thing I can think of (at this point) is that I once sat in a room surrounded by almost $2 million dollars in cash. I worked for a bank at the time, and our branch was in the parking lot of the town's biggest mall. Around the holidays, the deposits got really big, and when the vault was off balance, we had to manually count it. Fun... What I remember most about those days was that the deposits from the movie theater smelled like popcorn, and the ones from Long John Silver's smelled like grease and fish.

I prefer dogs to people. I often "hide" to avoid chatting to someone when I'm out and about.

This thread makes me smile! I love reading these. You never know about people--most everyone has a story, a really interesting one.
I've got a few as well, and will share two. 1. I'm a former hula hoop champion from the 70's. This makes me LOL all the time, but it's true! 2. I was Jane Fonda and Viola Davis "handler" for two separate events and got to spend hours with each of them. I love them both. It was a wonderful experience. Jane is as intense as you would imagine. Viola is as lovely as you would imagine.

I can't whistle. I have tried and tried to learn but can't. My mom on the other hand was able to double whistle (make two whistle sounds at once).
I was also named Tiffany at birth. My parents flew to another state to adopt me, brought me home and one of my older brothers took one look at me and said "She isn't a Tiffany, she is a Stephanie". My parents went through all the trouble of having my birth certificate and name changed because of my 16 yr old brother.

I was born in The Netherlands but moved here when I was 3. The only time I ever speak Dutch now is when I talk to my mom on the phone (she still lives in Holland). About once a month I dream in Dutch. Everyone in my dream (all Americans, including my kids, friends, etc) speak Dutch too! It's very, very strange.

All of my siblings and I (6 of us) have a scar somewhere that we can identify as "coffee table scar" from falling against the coffee table. Mine is on my lip. This is apparently a 70's phenomenon. I have several friends who have brought this up without prompting from me.
All of my siblings and I have a fear of water. We have decided it is genetic since none of us remember anything traumatic happening that would have caused it. DD was very cautious of water when she was little but I insisted that she have swimming lessons and now she swims like a fish.
I almost suffocated as a child when a huge pile of chopped straw fell over on top of me. Luckily my brother was with me and able to go get help. I coughed up black crap for days after that.
