I would love to have a/c. But our old house has hot water heat - no duct work. Our window are replacements for the old style double hung so now only the bottom third slides open which is sort of small for a window style. And to add to that with room doors open my house is sort of open concept so it would over tax a window unit. And I will not buy 4 or 5 units,

No date. But I wait until it hits 95, which is usually late April/early May.

Well I live in New England and thus far the weather hasn't warranted a/c. We've only hit one or two days even close to 90 and the temps at night have been getting downright cold (46 one night last week). So I open the house up early in the morning and it gets cool and stays that way. We have window fans for all the bedrooms too. We don't usually need an a/c unless we have at least a stretch of 6-8 days of 90+ with high humidity. We did just put in a small pool (16x48) and I plan on using that to keep cool this summer. This. I live in MA and I usually have my A/C on in June and don't turn it off until September. I've run it a couple days this year but turn it right off once the humidity breaks. Sounds like I'll be running it this week though.

When I'm hot, the a/c goes on. When I'm cold, the heat goes on. This. I won't be a martyr about the heat. I can't deal with the humidity, especially when trying to sleep at night. same here. we were with out it as when when turned them on. neither worked. they part was on backorder. We just got the part Friday and dh put it in saturday. Luckily we had a window unit we could put in.

When it gets hot outside, I turn on the a/c. I live in a condo and the hydro/gas is covered by my monthly condo fees.
When it gets cold outside, I turn on the heat. There is a company that comes and changes the filter twice a year.

The A/C goes on when the temp in the house goes above 78 and the heat goes on when the house temp goes below 70. I don't give two hoots what the date is

we live in a mild climate, but we open the windows and turn on our 1 fan when it's too warm. a hot spell is over 85 here.
No a/c where we live. yes, we have a heater that we use when we need it.
we are going to get Solar Panels soon! I am surprised no one has mentioned this yet.

No A/C here and we never run our central air. We just use space heaters and even that's limited. It does get a bit cold here and it does get hot, but just make do with fans. I wish we had A/C and may get a portable unit this summer. I'm nearing 50 and hate to be hot, so it would be in DH's best interest to get me one. We live in northern San Diego. August/September/October can be pretty hot.
