I'm looking for something different too. We switched to unscented when DD was born because she broke out from Tide. We had been using Kirkland Signature's free and clear (no colors or scents) for a long time, but lately I've been looking for something that would do a little better with getting stains out so I tried a bottle of Arm & Hammer with OxyClean. The smell was overwhelming after being so used to unscented detergent. It doesn't smell bad, it just smells way too strong. I won't be buying another bottle.

We use Tide HE Free and Clear - we use about half what they recommend, and our clothes come out clean - we have a front loader too

I have vivid childhood memories smelling the deliciousness of a fellow third grader, Adam's, uniform shirts as I waited to get off the bus behind him. It was divine. When I was in high school I finally asked his mom what she washed clothes in and it turned out to be Tide and Downy (the blue cap, not pink). When I got married and had to buy my own detergent, Tide was too pricey, but last year I caved and I adore having clothes that smell the way I dreamed they would.
For sheets I do something weird-I use Dreft and the Dreft scent crystals. The sheets are incredibly soft and smell so comforting.

Arm and Hammer with Oxyclean! I do not like the smell of Tide. Maybe it's something with our hard water, but it smells sour to me.
It gets everything so clean. I have tried a lot of brands and this one beats them all.

Persil. I found it at Rite Aid for $3.99 and bought 6 bottles. I should have bought every one that they had in the store.

Nellie's All Natural Washing Soda is all I will use. It is the only thing I have found that agrees with my HE washer. (no musty smell) It is very economical and you only need to use 1 Tablespoon for a normal load. Bought my last order of it when HSN had it as a Today's Special. Probably won't need to buy it again for at least a year. I don't use fabric softener because it is filled with junk and leaves a coating on things. I use vinegar instead for towels.

Persil Pro-Clean 2 in 1. Best.stuff.ever. After reading about it in Consumer Reports I picked up a bottle. I spot-clean with a little on stains and it works like magic. Don't get the *Original* bottle, it's not as good at getting stains out.

I use All Free & Clear. Due to skin problems we avoid fragrances like the devil. That's what I use for some of my clothes, too, but because most fragrance gives me a headache. I actually use a cocktail of all free & clear and fragrance free clorox 2. I also use Woolite Dark, mostly for my dress pants, which does not seem to leave much scent behind. No fabric softener in the wash; usually none in the dryer, either, though if the static is really bad, the drier sheets are also unscented.

For my husband's sweaty gym clothes I use Winn. For the rest of our clothes I use Persil.

I have also tried the new OxiClean liquid and it works good, especially for towels and sheets.

I use Cheer with Snuggle fabric softener. People comment all the time at how good our clothes smell. LOL! I want those comments too! Our family doesn't have any issues with skin breaking out from scented detergent, but I haven't really used fabric softener. I will use it on some clothes, but not all too check it out first. Thanks for the tip! Is it Cheer with snuggle fabric softener in the Cheer detergent? Or are they 2 different products? It's just Cheer detergent and then the separate regular Snuggle Blue Sparkle. Hope you like it!

I just bought a bottle of the Persil today to try. Have done one load and I have to say that I love the smell so far. Does anyone know if they make the 2 in 1 in the big container that goes on the shelf with spout? All they had at my Walmart was the 50 load size.

I don't use liquid detergent anymore after seeing the 1/4 inch gunk covering the outside of my tub when I had to have the transmission replaced in my washing machine several years ago. The repairman had to remove the tub in order to replace the transmission and I commented about the gunk on it, he asked me if I used liquid detergent, and I said yes. He said most liquid detergents are petroleum based and this is what happens. He also mentioned the fact that it's doing the same thing to my pipes. I use powder only now.

I thought Persil was only for whites.
I had been using Charlie's soap. But, it ended up all clumpy. So, I went back to Gain for everything but the whites. The whites are washed with Persil.

I stopped using the regular liquid tide (which I have been using for at least 10 years) in may, they had changed their formula and it was leaving a weird greasy residue in my soap dispenser. I started using the liquid tide free and clear and I have been happy with that since. My husband seems to be allergic to other brands so I didn't want to stop using the tide.

I used to use Charlie's Soap but it made my HE front loader stink! I recently tried making my own detergent and we're about half way through the batch and I really like it. HERE is the recipe I used if anyone is interested. I will be making it again once this batch is about gone. I also add a drop of essential oil (usually lemon) to the scooped detergent. My laundry always smells good!

I guess you can use it as a deodorizer?
