I feel like the episode from Seinfeld where Elaine is discussing the use of the exclamation point. What is up with every sentence ending in exclamation points, especially on product blogs? For example, I was looking at the Lawnfawn preview on their blog and every sentence ended with an exclamation point. You do not have to shout at me! HA.
ETA- let me reiterate- on professional blogs where people are promoting their business or product. Not here on 2peas, exclaim on !!!!!!!

I've never considered an exclamation point to be shouting. Just a little excited bounce in your chair wiggle with exuberance.

Since all caps is shouting, I think of exclamation marks as excitement.
But I agree some business go a little overboard with them.

I see them as excited, not shouting, as well. I use them, but it's the smiley face that I really tend to go crazy with.

I don't consider it to be shouting either. I use it for emphasis or to show feeling. I try not to be excessive in my effusion... wait for it... here it comes... are you ready?...!

I'll admit it drives me crazy on a message board to see someone end every sentence with an exclamation point. Multiple ones at the end of one sentence is ok!!!!! But not every darn sentence

¡I like the upside down ones in Español!
¡¿Don't you?!
ETA: This is how desperate my procrastination is tonight. I have posted on thousands of threads (okay, maybe a dozen, but still...), and I just spent time googling how to make upside down punctuation. ¡Somebody put me out of my misery!

It does bother me when every single sentence ends with an exclamation point, but I don't really know any better way to convey excitement over the interwebz, do you?
I also don't think of multiple exclamation points as shouting. NOW IF YOU USE ALL CAPS, THAT'S SHOUTING!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE THEM ALL THAT WAY WITH THE CAPS LOCK, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT HITTING THE CAPS LOCK AGAIN WILL TURN THEM OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I try not to overuse them (online) but my sentences seem dull and boring without one! Kind of like a monotone teacher lol.

Sadly, they are often incorrectly used; unless of course the person or company is super excited all the time. It looks kinda silly and often takes away the importance of the statement being made.

Couple people @ work only use the exclamation mark in their emails. I don't find their subject matter all that exciting either.

Sometimes I will re-read my posts on FB and here and I'm embarrassed by the amount of exclamation points I use. I am trying to cut down, but it's like an addiction!

I use them (and like them) to show excitement. But I agree that they're sometimes overused.
The flip side is my mother, who NEVER uses them, to the point that we make fun of her for it. Like this text string:
Me: Guess what? DD just made honor roll! Mom: Wow. That's great.
It's like a wet blanket thrown on my happy dance.

I use them!!!! They add a bit of emphasis and are cheerful!!!!!
I don't use them when I am writing though. A friend always used to add several after the family names on greetings cards, and it used to think Why? Just. Why?!!!!!!

I've never considered an exclamation point to be shouting. Just a little excited bounce in your chair wiggle with exuberance. Same here, I've always thought of them as more of excitement or happiness, not shouting.
