Back home there's a place called Pho Shizzle. Are you from the highlands, or is there another restaurant with that name?

Dirty Dick's. And their slogan was "I got my crabs from dirty Dick's" - it was a crab house/seafood restaurant. Klassy.

There was a family-owned gas station with a restaurant attached on the way up to my grandparent's house in Indiana. Their sign said "sherrill's - eat here and get gas." It made David Letterman's show at one point!

There is a bookstore here called ISIS.... nothing to do with what we know about it... but I guess they keep getting vandalized.. the name came from an Egyptian goddess And not really a business name.. but my boss' doctor was Dr. Hurt. The reason why there are so many Curl Up & Dye salon is because that was the name of Dolly Parton's character's salon in Steel Magnolias. It's a funny name people want to copy. There's a bar called The Office in Boise too. Not always because 75 miles northeast of Natchitoches where Steel Magnolias was filmed AND the author grew up was a Curl and Dye in West Monroe years before he wrote the play!

It's got to be kids that just don't know ISIS as anything else, who are vandalizing it. And I think my daughters have gone to The Church to go dancing a few times.

These are hilarious! For some reason, I think Dead Peoples Things is my favorite so far. When I was in England ohsomany moons ago, we stumbled upon a pub called The Slug & Lettuce. Cracked us up. Looks like it's a chain, now! About 20 minutes from me there's a Chinese takeout place called Wok and Roll. Kinda clever, I thought. I definitely think Dead Peoples Things is the best so far too! We have a Slug and Lettuce near us, not a chain just a regular pub. We do have a chain Chinese place called Quik Stix .

At the beach now and saw two restaurants-Big Peckers and Brass Balls Saloon.
When I was in high school the big thing was for guys to wear "Big Pecker's" t-shirts.
There used to be one called the Bearded Clam, but I haven't seen it on this visit.
