I wore them but not because my mom made me. I put them in myself and what a mess I made! I could hardly sleep on them and then trying to pull my hair out of them was a mess. But I'm sure i used them a few times before my mom bought me a set of heated curlers.

Nope, she never did. She did much worse. She went to cosmetology school when I was in elementary school. And I got a crimp perm. With feathered bangs. Don't believe me? Check it out. It was hideous.

Yes, those were torture. Till my mom moved on to the electric rollers. White ones with a metal core that went on a metal peg and had a colored dot on the end that changed colors when when they were sufficiently scalding. And they were heavy enough to rip the hair from your head. Good times. LOL!

Did anyone else's mom use little tissue paper squares folded in half then dragged up to the ends of your hair, then putting the rollers on?

Oh yes..those and the pink spongy ones! I actually still have the pink spongy ones! I have stick straight hair that doesn't hold a curl though. I always wanted to have the spiral curls!
