No, but I remember my mom wearing them... a lot! And I remember her sitting under her portable hairdryer. Oh, the memories

Where is the picture of you wearing the brush curlers? In my mom's old photo albums!

nope. I chose to try them myself because I hated the hard curlers with the covers that snapped on them. they left such an awful crease mark in my hair. these grabber rollers were kinder but they never stayed up by themselves and I hated hair pins.

I had some sort of pink, ruffly, nylon stretchy cap to put OVER the rollers and make them look better.

No, my mother never made me wear them - I did it voluntarily. Then I graduated to juice cans. Oh, and I ironed my hair too. By iron I mean the type you iron your clothes with. I also used tape on my bangs.
Aw, the memories. And yes, I do know what Dippity Do is.

With my stick-straight hair, that would be back to flat within the hour, and then she'd complain about how bad my hair looked, and why didn't someone (photog? teacher? who?) do something about it? This was the same woman who I mentioned in a different thread who had no problem burning the hell out of my hair with those home permanents, but god forbid I actually wanted to get highlights. SMH! haha!

Ha yes! I remember sleeping on my face. And what about the the pink hair tape? I wanted stick straight bangs so I'd tape them down and wake up with tape marks all over my face. But you know what I still use? Don't laugh. Velcro rollers. Just at my crown. I have very fine thin hair so after I blow dry I stick some of these Velcro babies at the top of my head, spritz some hair spray and leave in while I'm doing my makeup. It really gives some much needed poof and body to my hair! So there's my beauty secret of the day.

My mom didn't make me, I chose that torture all by myself. Oh, the things we did trying to make long hair look good! Sleeping on those things was pure hell!

Oh, yes, that was a Saturday night ritual so that our hair would be ready for church the next morning. I remember sitting on the floor between her knees and hearing her constantly telling me to be still. LOL. She also used dippity doo.
On a side note, my mom would get her hair done at the beauty shop every Friday afternoon. Friday and Saturday nights, she would sleep on this little pink satin neck pillow thing so as not to mess up her 'do. I remember wondering if I would do that when I was "big". The answer: NO. LOL!

No. I had naturally curly hair, so my mother/daughter hair issues came when she would try to comb my hair. She said she used to fear that the neighbors would call the cops from how I carried on.

My mom was big on the pink sponge rollers for my hair! I remember we had a babysitter with long long hair and she would wash it in the bathtub while she was over and then set it on orange juice cans!

I think my mom had some, but my sister and I had to endure getting the pink foam curlers put in every Saturday night before bed. My hair was very fine and straight. We must have gone through gallons of Johnson's detangler spray. No more tears, my ass.
I have never heard of tape for straight bangs. How did it not rip hair out of your head when you took it off? Or was it not sticky tape?

I never had to wear them but I remember playing with the ones my Mom had. I liked to pull the brush part out of the middle and squish the springy part.

I remember my mom using those and the hair dryer that had the shower cap connected to the hose that cam out of the dryer.
I had the pink spongey ones.

Did you guys ever wrap your hair in toilet paper to sleep? I did. I had this big bouffant going on with an entire can of Aqua-net, I had to use a pencil to scratch my head. So at night, in order not to flatten it out, I'd wrap toilet paper around it then clip it with those metal hair clippy things. So then, not only would I wake up with tape marks, I would wake up with hair clip impressions embedded in my face.

Remember getting them tangled in your hair? They are a ^*#"! to get out. When I was little, my mom would tie up my hair in flannel rags to make adorable curls.

I remember sleeping on OJ cans when I was a teen. I used the pink spongy ones on my DDs One Dd had straight hair and always one curler would fall out overnight. So we had curls and one straight piece on Sunday mornings.

Oh my. I slept in those rollers every night for years and years, all through high school and then for many years after. I would roll my hair then tie a soft flannel scarf around the whole affair to keep everything in place while I slept. Don't know how I did it but I must have just gotten used to the pain! For me it wasn't to add curls but to control my naturally curly, wavy hair.

Those brush curlers were torture devices. I hated the pink sponge rollers too, but they weren't nearly as awful as those porcupine things.
