Thank you for sharing your story op. The only silver lining I see is that he's not permitted to return to Stanford and his conviction is against the USA Swimming code of contact preventing him from participating in the Olympic trials. At least some organizations don't excuse rapists. I don't want to start a thread (maybe next week) and I have committed the other Pea-offence of posting before I get anywhere near the end of the thread but this bubbled up: is anyone here following the Oscar Pistorius re-sentencing from Monday 13th? The only silver lining/s there (so far) is that this gun-nut will never be permitted to own one again and that the IOC would not accept any of his arguments/ excuses (way back about 3 years ago, as the whole trial nausea started, IIRC). OP, I salute you. what a strong woman you are and I wish you Peace. Same to the victim in this case. To the idiot and his Dad, and the Judge: may they be plagued.

I just read her entire statement. She is brilliant and amazing and I hope that this reaches epic proportions. What he did, his lawyer did, and then the judge--criminal at best. What actions of his lawyer do you object to? Just my feelings myshelly--for his lawyer to say that his erection was because it was cold outside (vs him being aroused) I get that it's his job but it doesn't make him any less douchey to me.

I Love Evil Swedes!!
Perhaps I have been really sheltered, but I have never heard of cold causing an erection. I have heard of it causing testicles to pull up. I seem to remember a Seinfeld episode where George appeared very small because he was cold. But not causing an erection.
To be honest, I have felt from the first time I read the father's letter that people were reading it wrong. I do not think he meant "20 minutes of action" as sexual action. I think he meant the acts of a 20 minute time stretch. But yeah, the man and his son are definitely pieces of work. The acorn does not fall far from the tree. They are both totally focused on the boy and his dreams and not on how reprehensible his actions are. Very self-centered/narcissistic. No concern for others and no empathy for anyone but themselves. Statements by both are equally repulsive and ridiculous.

Would you be willing to write a letter to this judge? Clearly he does not understand the gravity of this man's crime. It might not change the outcome of this case, but could affect others. I'm so sorry for what happened to you. I like this idea. It is proactive, especially in a time that I feel particularly helpless. I won't be able to write or describe what happened as eloquently as the victim did in her letter to the rapist but it is certainly worth the effort. You already HAVE written your letter. It touched all of us. HUGS.

Not to mention the slut-shaming and blaming the victim BS. There has to be a way to fairly defend rape suspects without terrorizing the victim…

Especially since there were witnesses to the assault. This infuriates me to no end. Myshelly--if they do appeal, and again lose, can his sentence be made longer?

What they really want is for the charges to be dropped down to where he doesn't have to register as a sex offender. OP, thank you for your words. It is never easy to stand up and say that you have been hurt, so thank you for your bravery. This whole thing makes me so angry. Especially his refusal to be honest about what happened. That if he hadn't have been drunk that this never would have happened. No. If he hadn't have been drunk, he would have raped her with his penis as well as his fingers, and he probably would have gotten away, as he would have been running sober. Drinking does not make you a rapist, and excusing this type of behavior because you drank too much is insane. I'm furious! For him & father to make the inkling that there was "sexual promiscuity" on her part and says he's only guilty of drinking. Grrrrr! My hope is that his father also suffers from this based on his letter--that his coworker's, colleagues and friends look at him like he's s piece of shit that he is. If I was his co-worker, I would absolutely lose all respect for him! I was just disgusted by his statement.

OP, sorry to hear this happened to you, I hope time will heal. Stay strong!
I hope this affects every aspect of this families lives just because of their narcissistic and self centered attitude. His jail sentence was not long enough but I will take a certain amount of satisfaction knowing that this kid and his dumbass dad will have this around their necks for years to come. Let's hope they learn a good lesson.

Oh-- but he's doing such a great community service by teaching young people about the consequences of binge drinking. Because--yeah – if the victim hadn't been drunk, it would never have happened. Funny thing---he hasn't done any of that stuff he said, plus he isn't going to speak about rape, it's all about drinking and running across promiscuous women!!!

The son is a criminal that committed a crime and what they have both said is unforgivable.

To the OP, I am sorry for what happened to you. You are a brave woman to share your story. Big hugs!!!! As for Brock, his family, the judge, and the "supporters" of linkthis facebook page (that has since been deleted) - They should all be ashamed of themselves. If you'd like to mail some "support" to the family, this is the address they listed on the facebook page: Mail: Turner Family Support Fund C/o Wright Patt Credit Union P.O. Box 340134 Beavercreek, Oh 45434-0134 This story disgusts me, and every layer that has been added to it since the crazy sentencing, it continues to disgust me more. Take some responsibility for being an ass! Some ownership to what you did wrong. She should have woken up with a hangover after drinking too much, not picking pine needles out of her hair and missing her underwear because you are a douche and wanted "20 minutes of action". And for the record, I personally don't give two shits if a prison sentence "would have a severe impact on you", Brock. You know why? Because you gave the real victim a lifetime of anguish, you ass!!!

If you press charges for rape you will be picked apart and violated again because it's the defendant's 'right' to defend themselves. And unfortunately our culture still thinks aroused males can do what they want and 'your' at 'fault' for arousing them. It goes back to the biblical base of eve being the temptress. It time women stand together and demand changes Just another example of not making people take responsibility for your Actions. ( no matter how many minutes )

I have a problem with any way his father says 20 minutes of action. In most cases it doesn't matter how long it takes someone to commit a crime. You can commit a crime in seconds that will put you in prison for life.

And "getting some action" means something specific sexually so "20 minutes of action" means something sexual....vs just 20 minutes of your life.

Except then some poor bank employee would be stuck with the glitter bombs or whatever instead of anyone from the lovely Turner family. Now if I had their home address, all bets would be off.

OP, thank you for sharing your story and know that you've been heard. A childhood friend of Turner's also submitted a reprehensible letter in his defense. Excerpt: link to letter
Her band was quickly cancelled from several upcoming music events; she tried to defend her statement but that has since disappeared. follow up

She has since tarted backtracking just like the father did--saying that her words were misunderstood. Bullshit

I'm sobbing reading your story OP. I'm so very sorry that happened to you.
I am horrified on what happened with this young man and unfortunately, the nut didn't fall far from the tree.
Funny how people are all up in arms over potential transgender sex offenders and when they actually have a sex offender, they let him go.

Funny how people are all up in arms over potential transgender sex offenders and when they actually have a sex offender, they let him go. See that's the thing. A sex offender doesn't need to masquerade as transgender. They will just go do it anyway. Like the awful case of the the attack on Matthew Cecchi.
