Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but there have been some news reports of nefarious activities using the game. Saw it on FB (and then Googled it). It could all be hogwash, but wanted to mention it.

This has become a problem where I work. Grown men are playing, walking around muttering about luring Pokemon and whatnot. But on a funny note, I did see a teenager running around the playground today, exclaiming that he was almost right on top of Pikachu.

DS23 and DD25 are both playing. DD actually organized a Pokewalk today with the game card shop she works at as the muster point (they have drinks and charging stations). She put in about 8 miles of walking so far this weekend. Looks like she may not have to stay in the mega doses of vitamin D much longer (was DXed with deficiency early this year) if she keeps getting outside!
My friend at the other end of my street has the misfortune of having a cool frog that was formed from/painted on a section of dead tree on her property. It is/was a portal in Ingress and is a gym in Pokémon Go.

My 14 yr old DD and my fiancé are playing. We drove around last night and this afternoon for over an hour each time. Today I decided it made a great drinking game. I took a drink every time the caught one or stopped at a pokestop.
We could tell other people who were playing because they were in same places as us. Especially around churches and post offices and the city park.

This has become a problem where I work. Grown men are playing, walking around muttering about luring Pokemon and whatnot. We have wi-fi at work. We are allowed to use the internet as long as it doesn't interfere with our work. They do frown on streaming apps because of the bandwidth it takes up. I wonder if they can "see" this when monitoring the internet activity? I wonder if they can ban it somehow? It would be funny if a memo did come out soon about not hunting critters on the company's wi-fi!

My son caught a bunch this morning on our run (well, more of a walk due to so much stoppage for Pokemon chasing and catching -- my pace on my app is pathetic as a result!). Then I took him later for a haircut and he was catching them right and left as we traveled down the road. Only one appeared to be IN the car; the others were on the side of the road. I was really surprised and can foresee that it's only a matter of time before this causes wrecks. I hate to be "that old lady," but drivers WILL be using this app as they drive. People texting and driving is bad enough... this will be worse. This is my biggest concern about it. I wish there was a way the game would be inactive while in the car or something.

We were out and about today and saw several businesses that said only paying customers can come in to catch Pokemon.
One was on a yogurt shop, one was on a Burger King, and one was on Mexican food restaurant.

Yeah, I can see how a business would dislike people just running in and out of the store all day long just to catch Pokemons. I think there is going to be a lot of backlash against this game in the very near future.

Maybe it will be good for some businesses. The Mexican restaurant is a gym. I'm sure we'll be eating there in the near future, lol.

My daughter just told me how many hours she's logged since downloading. All I can say is thank God it's summer. Maybe (hopefully) the hype will die down when school starts.

I am considering it when the weather cools down so we can find things while we go out for walks or to the parks more frequently. I read this today and it had both my husband and I laughing so hard: imgur.com/KAwwxFp

The park 5 houses from my house is a pokestop...after this thread I decided to download it. There were several people there at the picnic tables waiting for it to work (the stop was not working for a bit and then started up as soon as we walked away so we went back) and then more people walked up...every single one of us was talking about pokemon. This is the most interaction I've had with most of my neighbors in the 5 1/2 years I've lived in this house, I think.

I found my first two at Home Depot yesterday, but none since I got home. I still look, but always nothing. I live out in the middle of nowhere. Could that be why?

There's always someone taking advantage of situations... One should always be aware of their surroundings though, and not trespass just to get something in a game (like what's happening with my friend down the street's property). I'm just waiting for my kids to ask for family badges to be able to get onsite where I work to access pokestops and gyms that the general public might not be able to get to without taking one of the tours.

My son and I have a theory that maybe the more people you are around who are playing, the more Pokemon are generated. We found a lot in a small area at a primarily college student-oriented apartment complex near us. We also found more along the main shopping drag in town when I took him to get a haircut. Of course, we could just be full of it. Who knows?

I wonder about searching in your home since you give the app access to your camera. I asedan my kids to keep it to the outdoors. I feel weird letting them scan around our house with an open camera. I feel like I'm being paranoid, but still...

This morning while walking my dog I went to three Pokestops in my neighborhood, a church, the synagogue, and a park. The park and the synagogue are in opposite directions from my house. So ordinarily if I'd walked to the park I would have just walked back home. But this morning I kept on going past my house and on to the synagogue. lolol. Yesterday I couldn't figure out how to get stuff from the Pokestop but someone explained it to me at church. Our church is actually a gym but I'm not level 5 yet so I can't do that. So I watched the ten or so people at church playing. hahaha One guy said he walked three miles yesterday so he could get his egg to hatch.
I think this is such a great idea for getting people outside and walking around.

My oldest found three in Trader Joe's last night, plus it was some kind of stop - Pokestop? - I have no idea. The cashier said they'd had people coming in all day looking for various Pokemon.

Tell me about this egg business. I think I got a couple at a Pokemon stop, but I had no idea what to do with them.

Yes. Oldest son has walked several miles this week through the neighborhood playing it, so I'm all for it . Our dogs have gotten more walks with the 17 yr old since she downloaded it
