Ohhh, good to know. We walk our walking path at work every day so I will have to let the one PoGo player know that we need to switch it up for her to keep getting things No, you can get different Pokemon on the same route. I got a Ponyta this morning on my dog walk and we've walked that way every day this week with no Ponytas in sight. lol. I think what scrapaddict meant was that we don't get "credit" for just walking around in a circle in order to try to hatch our eggs. I didn't know that, lol. I need to test that out this evening because dd can't walk and she has .8 miles left on one egg, and it's a billion degrees outside so I'm not going out to walk her egg. rofl. I was planning to try walking around in a circle through our downstairs. I'll let you know. But for finding Pokemon they're just random and you never know where they'll be. Ahhh, very good to know I'm not playing but will pass on the info!

No!!
But the girls haven't been home much or around their devices this week. I'm sure as soon as they are back they'll be wanting to play!

I have a question for teachers. My daughter plays & she has said that a lot of the 'gyms' are located on or near schools. She made the statement, "I feel bad for the teachers when kids are back in school." So, teachers, educators, etc, what about this? Are you worried what this upcoming school year is going to be like? PS - I haven't had a child in school for 5 years, so I'm not sure of the challenges you face in today's world. yeah, there is a gym at the high school close to me. It works as I don't have to leave my living room to use it. I figure by the time school is back in, it will be old news. Plus, if you have your phone out in my class, it is mine for the rest of the period, so I am not too worried.

I found my first two at Home Depot yesterday, but none since I got home. I still look, but always nothing. I live out in the middle of nowhere. Could that be why? My son and I have a theory that maybe the more people you are around who are playing, the more Pokemon are generated. We found a lot in a small area at a primarily college student-oriented apartment complex near us. We also found more along the main shopping drag in town when I took him to get a haircut. Of course, we could just be full of it. Who knows? My son found way more at a local college than pretty much anywhere else so far, so you may be on to something. (And in case anyone is concerned, we had a legitimate reason to be at the college the entire time he was looking for them there, so we would have been there with or without the game. ) Save

Only my 13 year old is playing. We're together so much during the summer doing summer activities that I'm always around to make sure he's not walking into traffic or something. I figure it's popular as all heck right now, and no time it simply won't be anymore. So it's something fun for DS over the summer and then we'll move on to school-related activities. It's interesting to see how differently businesses react to it. DH saw a story about some businesses advertising that they are pokestops or gyms on social media. And then last night I saw a museum suggesting that you go there, check out the exhibits, and catch some Pokemon, too. So some are embracing it. I think that it's obvious that people should not interfere with the intended purpose of any building or place, but let's face it, people often choose not to do what is the seemingly obvious right thing to do. Unfortunately, we can't get service in most of the area right around our home, but I let DS bring his phone when we go umpteen other places, and we've just driven into town, parked the car and walked around, too.

We are not playing Pokemon Go, I made the boys delete the app. DH is a cyber security guy and there are already stories about malware being developed to infest peoples phones. There is already a second app in the android store (I don't know the name, it's their iTunes) that has paid to be the first one that pops up. If you select this one, as soon as you open your device and log in, it gains complete control over your phone. My kids are not very happy with me at the moment but they will get over it.

I took my usual walk around our neighborhood lake. There were at least 100 people out. About 80 had their phones in front of their faces walking or jumping around and not paying attention to where they were going. We usually run into maybe a dozen people. It was so irritating.

I took dd out again this evening (she's still immobile, we're waiting for the doctor's appt on Friday to hopefully hear some good news!) -- so this is a great distraction for her. We drove all over town with her in the back seat saying "turn right!" and "there's a lure up ahead!" etc. rofl. In places where I pulled over I got out my phone and captured a few myself. There's an Episcopal church near us that has had lures up every time we've been by there. lol. I'm sure it's the church that's put them up because I can't imagine why some random person would set up a lure there rather than in a busier spot. Anyway, dd had great success this evening with a Ponyta and a Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff! my favorite. I'm mad at her.

In other words you need "youremailname.gmail.com" not just "youremailname". And be sure you're using your correct gmail password. I wasn't for the first couple of times I tried because I hardly ever use gmail.

Just heard reports of two separate instances where people were seriously injured. I don't know a thing about the game, but one girl was hit crossing heavy traffic and two boys crossed a fence that was protecting people from an unstable cliff... Apparently, some are so caught up in the game, they aren't using common sense

We uninstalled Pokemon Go, shut down the phone, reinstalled Pokemon Go, when we opened Pokemon Go, for his birthday I used 2001 for the year (even though he's 11 it would not take his actual birth-date to sign in with Gmail) Hope this helps

My son now has pokemon go on his phone (phone is shared by all kids but ds uses it 99% of the time-the girls aren't interested in even learning how to use it). I had to root it and flash a new updated rom.
It's slow on it though. It's a pretty old phone.

She did not even look to see if any cars were coming and walked right in front of my van. Then in the store kept bumping into people. Holy shit its annoying. And then all kinds of people on the lawn out front. Dh, who teaches high school math, is not looking forward to the start of school in 3 weeks.

He teaches honors and had a flipped classroom and uses a lot of technology in his class. Ipad, Mobi, laptop, tablets, clickers, etc. He is thinking of not allowing them now. The hallways are going to be a mess. Ugh

I am playing with my kids. It is kind of fun. Its given us something extra to do outside of the house. We've gone on many long walks and bike rides, checked the local beaches since we were traveling there anyway, etc. Fun. I brought my 3 kids and a friend to the local park today. We parked and walked for maybe 10-15 min just to see if there were any Pokemon in the area. Some guy in a parked van asks from his window "Playing Pokemon?" When I said yes, he told me some kid on a bike just hit his van! Pedaling with his head up his butt, not even paying attention, SMACK, drove into the corner of this parked vehicle. He thanked me for being alert (I was holding my 7 year old's hand in the parking lot). The game can be fun but I wish people would stop being giant horse's asses about it and still use common sense. Don't walk into oncoming traffic to catch a Jigglypuff you dorks! SaveSave

Dh, who teaches high school math, is not looking forward to the start of school in 3 weeks. Has he been to his school to see if it will be a problem? I've heard that businesses can request that they be blocked from having Pokemon and Pokestops at their locations.

The game that Pokémon Go is based on had already had people objecting to schools as locations so I thought that wasn't a problem. It must depend on location because I haven't noticed any at schools around here. My kids have been attending a summer camp at a local elementary school and I've been keeping the game on to see if I could catch a Pokémon there and it never happened.

Ok, I succumbed and have been attempting to catch pokemons. I don't think either son has downloaded it. DH, who used to play the video game a lot, doesn't want to download it but he'll go with me on walks. There's a park that has 10 poke-stops and two gyms. I only caught two while there but loaded up at most of the stops. The beagle got a big walk in and DH got to check out the new "fanasty forest" there.
As far as I've been able to tell, the gyms are at churches, a museum, and a few parks. The stops are all over, mostly landmarks and historical markers in my area.
