I waited and no one started one so here I am, appropriately on DH's birthday. We're having New York strip steaks, pasta salad, grilled veggies and fruit salad. And for dessert, Mudd Pie ice cream cake. Yummy! What's on your menu today? ETA: scrapmaven, I hope you are doing okay and are feeling better.

DH and kids are at a day long huge gun raffle so I just had my lunch/ dinner - a taco salad and a big glass of fresh brewed sun tea. I'm sitting on the front porch for a bit relaxing before finishing up some long overdue yard work.

Blueberry pancakes (using blueberries from the farmers market) and sausage links.
I don't need leftovers for dh so I let the boys pick what they wanted for dinner.

My husband requested Shepherd's Pie. I need to get started on that soon. I'll be having a big bowl of fresh peaches.

Pepper steak and rice tonight. No dessert, somehow 5 extra pounds attached themselves to my body and I need to chase them away.

Happy birthday to your DH, cadoodlebug. Hope you feel better soon, leannec. We just had chicken and pasta (because DH knows how to put spaghetti in boiling water, impressive, isn't it? And the grilled chicken was from the store). I don't care, as long as I don't have to cook (I look like Rudolph right now, my nose will glow in the dark).

We getting ready to leave to meet up with another couple and head out to our favorite Iowa winery about 50 miles away for one of their burger and wine nights. The winery is beautiful and they have a great tasting room and outdoors area with a fire brick oven that they cook both pizzas and burger in...we've been for pizza night but not for burger night. I also love one of their reds called "Red, White & Blue" and I see at least 1/2 bottle of that in my near future.

This looks great! Thanks for the recipe link! Looks like DH is throwing some burgers on the grill. I will probably look for whatever might be hanging out in the refrigerator to add to it since we leave tomorrow for 4 days. SaveSave

I actually have a reason to post on this thread bc I'm cooking! We are doing Home Chef meals this week. So far, the meals I've made have been delicious! Shrimp Scampi last night. Soooo yummy. I've never made it from scratch and will definitely do it again! Tonight it's Cajun chicken with cheesy grits. DH is pumped (I picked that one bc I knew he'd love it). I've also been going back to past weeks and printing the recipes for stuff that sounds good. Hoping to try a few of their other dishes this way. I don't know if I will keep this subscription long term or not, but I do like that I can skip a bunch in a row (I have skipped the next few weeks). So I might continue to do that and just get a box every few weeks on really busy weeks and take advantage of the meal planning aspect on my own during the others. Bc that's the part I hate doing. ETA: if anyone wants a $30 credit to try it, they sent me a few to send to friends. Just PM me with your email. It will make your first week 1/2 off if you are cooking for two. And when I signed up it gave me a $10 credit if I signed up in 30 min, so maybe you'd get that too? I don't know. Worth a shot.

We're grilling hot dogs, and having our family's favorite pasta salad - 1lb cooked small shell pasta, 1lb salad size shrimp ( frozen, thawed), a bag of peas (thawed) mix with as much mayo, horseradish, salt and pepper as you like. It's crazy how delicious this simple pasta salad is. My kids normally hate mayo, but everyone loves this salad.

Tomorrow is our anniversary, but I have a baby shower to go to then, so we are going out to dinner tonight, to one of our favorite local restaurants. My husband particularly likes the shrimp at this place, so I'm guessing that's what he'll have. I won't decide until we get there, and see if they have any specials. I might get a steak.

Well the ribeye steaks are defrosted and ready to be put on the grill, but now it's storming. I guess we will wait it out and see if it clears up!

cadoodlebug, thank you so much for starting the thread this am. I was in bed playing sick people. It's not a biggie, just enough to annoy me and make me sleepy. Happy Birthday to your dh. leannec, hope your headache is completely gone and you are feeling much better. hop2, I'm sorry you got bad news. No fair. We're having a taco night. It is the simplest thing I could think of. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
