Can I ask a question for those of you that are excited about it typing on 12x12. How will you add typing if you have embellishments and photos on your page? And if you will do the typing first, how will you know where you want it to go? I guess I am totally confused as to how this typing on 12x12 feature is a great thing. Doesn't seem it would work for journaling on a layout. I always lay out my whole page before sticking anything down so i would know exactly where i would want to type something

Thank you @thatmarie for how you would use the 12x12 carriage.

I want this thing so badly. It comes in pink, does 12x12, looks vintage...it is everything I've been looking for. I'm not one for thrift stores or buying used from online so I had resigned myself that I would just have to get a new electric typewriter...then this one came out. I don't think $199 is too high for something that is decorative as well as functional. I just would like to hear a few more reviews. I heard one pro and one negative. I love that it's pink, also. I keep thinking about it.
May I ask, where was the bad review? I saw the good review by Victoria Marie on Youtube.

Wish WeR could figure out a way to make a $40 version - no bells and whistles, smaller. I'd be in there.

Yes, nicolep. I had one that I can no longer get ribbon for and I'd love to still use it. Definitely not something I need. Want it, though😃 I just saw a video on You Tube where she uses the WRMK ribbon on her old typewriter. Maybe you can try that?

I have a typewriter somewhere in my garage, and I think there is one at my dad's house....I can't believe they are actually marketing this

I have never wanted a typewriter before as I just print all my journaling off from the printer and typewritters are pretty bulky but this changes everything. Being able to write straight onto a 12x12 sheet of paper is a huge deal for me and the pink is also a factor, hate to think how much they will be here though and even if we get them in Australia.

I don't need a huge 12x12 typing area. Even when I make a 12x12 page, I layer so much that I wouldn't journal directly on the background paper itself. A mini typewriter that didn't take up too much room would be awesome. Maybe one that typed on a 4x4 piece of paper?

if the ribbons work on older typewriters I'd be all over that! I have a typewriter that I snagged at goodwill for $10 but the ribbon really needs replacing and I've been too lazy to search the internet for a replacement.

A mini would be great for typing journaling directly onto a PL card or a scrap of pp. Still don't think I would buy it, because I don't really see myself using it, but I DID buy a mini sewing machine--even if I never used that!

needtime2scrap I bought the ribbon (you can use a coupon on the ribbon just not the typewriter) and it worked with my Olympia Deluxe. Not sure if it will work in all manual typewriters though

The ribbons are standard and you can get them at office supply stores and Amazon. They fit my vintage typewriter.

950nancy and LavenderLayoutLady my M's has it in black as well. Which is what I would buy if I had room and money enough for all the toys I would like to own.

I would lay it out and lightly pencil around photos, embellishments, etc. so I would know where they were going. Like a pp said, with all the typewriter fonts, the only thing I would want it for would be to type directly on my 12x12. For a long time, I've been wanting a printer that will take 12x12, but with that, I'd have to print out a bunch of test pages to line up the printing. Now, with a typewriter, you can see as you go along, so it's a much easier option. While the price is a little steep for me now, I will definitely be watching this for a BF sale, or for when the price goes down. Might be something for my Christmas list!

I was just going to grab a black one on Amazon. I would LOVE to use some of the color ribbons that the WRMK uses. Do you remember the YT user. I also need to google the size of the WRMK ribbon. If I can use that, I would just put it on my spools. With gloves on. ETA: Nvr mind, it is half inch. Which I think will work in my spools. Here's to hoping that my Mikes will have it when I there tonight. It is not local, so it is hit and miss when I get there.

I have no idea why.

papersilly Wow, that looks terrible. I like the look of slightly less than perfect lettering one gets with an old fashioned typewriter, but that is BAD. What a shame. I'm much less likely to purchase it now. Thank you for sharing the review!

the ribbon colors are cool but they barely give you any ribbon for the price. I was able to use a coupon on the ribbon when I bought one last night. here is a type sample of the color I bought

But... but... but... I can already print in ANY color I want--or combination of colors--using a free typewriter font in any size I want with a regular inkjet printer.
I don't think it's really necessary to *actually* type on a 12x12 page to get the *effect* of printing on a 12x12 page. If I want to simulate the look of typing on 12x12, I would cut the paper in half (or to a width that will fit in a regular printer) set up my printing to land where I want it on the cut page (rotating as necessary), and cover up the seam on the reassembled page with embellishments, other patterned paper or cardstock, photos, etc. and no one's the wiser.

So I found the display at my local Mike's and I grabbed a spool of black ribbon to try in my old typewriter that I had bought at goodwill for $10. Love the fun colors! I'm happy to report that it works! I won't need the big 12x12 capabilities but I will say this...with the display they had some beautiful papers, tags, 3x4 cards etc. To work with the the typewriter. Some styles that I hadn't seen before so I grabbed some. Happy with what I've got.
