If I can get it for 80% off I'll buy it. I'll have to check my Michaels. I don't have a typewriter and really want one so for $40 I would definitely grab it.

I just checked Michael's.com and it looks like all the accessories are on deep discount. I didn't see any discount on the typewriter itself.

if all you care about is a plastic typewriter in a color that looks good on your desk, then this is the typewriter for you. it's a great prop and probably good for typing a few words here and there.
if you actually want one that types longer sentences, types straight or uniformly, I would think twice before buying this one. even at the sale price.

There are a lot of positive reviews, My M's coupon excludes using it for this. I am not buying one to type essays.

I am waiting for the mint and I fully expect it to be the TSV on HSN sometime before Christmas. It will be a good price with extras thrown in and on easy pay, It is highly unusual M's got a WRMK product before HSN, Typically, HSN gets all the new WRMK items a few months before the big box stores. I like the bigger print and spacing designed for scrapbooking. And mint is the only color I want.

No luck at my Michaels. Not even the accessories were on sale. I will keep my eyes open though. I think it would suffice for what I want it for ... just not at $200!

None of it was on sale at my Michael's either. I'd probably buy the typewriter if it was 80% off.

For any Australians that are looking for this craftonline.com.au have them for $299. I did ask Spotlight if they were getting them in and the answer was at this point they are not.

The entire endcap of typeset products at my local Michaels is gone and the remaining few items cast to the clearance section at 80% off. That was a super fast turn. I think they realized it was overpriced and dumped it quickly.

Mind you, Spotlight staff never seem to know what's going on (at least in New Zealand). I've asked about several products in the past and have been told they're not getting it in only to see the item in store several weeks later!

The typewriter and ribbon was not included in the sale I noticed that yesterday. they restocked all the ribbon (probably because I bought most of them when they were 60% off. LOL) but the rest they are clearing out. makes me wonder if they are only going to keep the typewriter and ribbons out.

Quite some time back I was trying to track down something that they had in the catalogue, I rang every store in the Brisbane/Sunshine coast area and only one store had it and almost all of the others had no idea what I was even talking about. Sadly though I don't buy much from them anymore, the scrapbooking section seems to be getting smaller and they have had the same stock for what seems like 2 years.

How do you expect to sell it that way? maybe they don't want the customers touching it and 1) finding out it's PLASTIC or 2) breaking it by pounding on the keys or messing with the lid or 3) having people get turned off because the price doesn't match the expectations

They don't keep anything in the box any longer due to theft. 950nancy my store hasn't sold one either I am sure. Who would pay that much for plastic here? Sure it's pretty and all but it is still plastic. My store has them go on sale for $149.99 which is a good price as the dollar is low and Michaels Canada is usually so much more than the US is. Even at that price they don't sell.

My local Spotlight has actually improved over the last couple of years - a lot more regularly in stock - esp Heidi Swapp and AC. But I still do most of my shopping online from the US

Well, through the years we have learned not all Michaels were created equally. Did they not get them maybe? Did they maybe sell out quickly and weren't reordered? Who knows, right? My store has 2 boxes (pink and black) and I don't know if they had any in the back room in case either of these sold out. I suspect they do have extras, though. We will never know how many they have as the self isn't big enough to store more than 2 boxes and why would they need more on display? I am sounding like a negative Nelly here. I think they look cool and maybe 10 years ago I would have liked one to type my journaling on. I hand write journaling now and I am good with it. I also use my Word on my computer and make a text box if I need to journal. They are very cute and I would love a pink one but where would I put it and what would I do with it?

I have a decent Michaels. I have always like the clerks and found them to at least try to be helpful, but they don't usually stay for too long and know the store very well. I am pretty sure that I know it better than most of them. I did ask about the typewriters and was told they had a black and pink one that were still in the box and they weren't planning on taking them out. She offered to get it for me (in the back room) and I declined. The end cap is filled with maybe twenty different accessories for it, but not the machine. If I get the typewrite bug in the future, I will buy and old one and refill with the colored ink.

The good news is the clerks at my Michaels have been there forever. There is one I have seen for at least 15 years or more. She's really nice and lets you work the system. My store also has helpful people wandering around and able to help you find something. I am impressed with the attitude change. I don't know if it's a franchise or what, but something has changed as hardly any turnover and good morale. The employees smile, they seem to be happy to help you in any way they can and look like they are having fun, too. I know their feet must hurt on the concrete all day long and still they smile so that makes me think it's either good ownership or good management of the store. My store is also reliable in having stock. They really do make an effort to reorder things when they sell out and there is generally (I can't say 100% because I am not there like I used to be) have lots of stock. It is a good craft store now.
They still have 2 typewriter boxes that won't sell, though.
