I am still shaking I'm so mad. If people feel free to do this before the election over the most benign or bumper stickers, what is going to happen if Trump loses? Or worse, if he wins? Will these people feel even more encouragement to engage in this type of behavior and worse? THIS is exactly why Trump is literally dangerous for our country. We became foster parents in 2009. We are white and most of our foster children were minority's. we always got the occasional dirty look, but here recently it's becoming a lot worse. Our older adopted son is latino. The other day my biological daughter was holding his hand at the store. This older white woman passed by us and as she did she gave my daughter a look of pure hate. It looked like she wanted to attack her. It was scary! There has always been idiots, but it's like Trump has made them worse.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would be upset too. You have every right to take it personally when it is on YOUR car. I would not be able to laugh it off. Whoever did it was a coward that can not even stand behind their convictions. That says more to me than anything they wrote. Hugs!

I would be pea livid too. What a coward. Even though the police can't do anything, I'd be tempted to make a complaint anyway so I could get the customer ID from the store.

I'm sorry Elaine, what a jerk face! I'd be upset too, that was totally horrible thing to do to someone. Car notes are so cowardly!
I'm glad you have shaken it off and had a great day despite that, how fun! <hugs> try not to be upset anymore, this stupid election will be over soon.

I am so sorry that happened to you Elaine. Just consider the source and try not to let it ruin your day. There are definitely people out there that belong in a basket of deplorable, down deep, in the bottom. He is one. People like this have always been out there, they just seemed more impowered to act it out now and that is really sad. Karma will get him when he least expects it.

I'm sorry you were upset over it.
It's not threatening so I wouldn't waste the police dept. time if I found that note.
But unless I'm missing something in the photo...How do you know it was a Trump supporter? It looks like a generic Anti-Hillary rant not a pro-Trump message. My bff is an ardent Jill Stein fan (in NOVA area) and has the same kind of anti-Hillary feelings and just as equally anti-Trump. It could be anyone who dislikes HIllary.
Glad you enjoyed time with your family and feel better.

elaine By the way, great photo! I've always wanted to do one of those Segway things but I'm afraid I'd break something. I hope today's sightseeing plans are indoors somewhere. The weather took me by surprise since I had no idea it was supposed to rain. lol.

I must be missing something here. Why would you file a police report? What law was broken? There was no threat, neither explicit nor implied in what was written.
And no, I do not support this type of behavior.

It was a crappy thing for someone to do, and speaks more of their character than yours. I'm sorry that it happened to you, Elaine. But, it is not a threat, it's a statement, and certainly not something the police should be called for. And, I guess I'm not fully understanding what the store manager was supposed to do. Why would anyone need to see the footage from the cameras in the parking lot? No damage was done to person or property. No harm was threatened to person or property. Why would any action be necessary aside from crumpling the crappy note and throwing it in the trash? The manager was glad that I brought it to his attention. Store owners and managers WANT to know when people are harassing the customers of their store. It wasn't simply a statement - a statement would be "Election Day is November 8" - it WAS harassment. And actually, yes, harassment is illegal. And I could file a police report and they would take it and follow up it. And no, I've already stated several times that I won't waste their time by doing so. But it is illegal. I guess you could call it harassment, but it's not going to fall into the criminal realm (this would probably fall into the "petty annoyance" category of harassment). In order for it to fall into the realm of criminal harassment, the majority of states require the harassing behavior to have a credible threat to either the safety of the individual, the individuals family or property. I really don't think that this will meet the criteria that would be required for a police report and follow up.
I can understand the anger, annoyance, frustration and disappointment you feel because of this note, as I said before. I get it.
But, I still strongly feel that the calls to try to turn this into a criminal matter are an exaggerated response to the incident (much like the note was an exaggerated response to your bumper sticker).

My husband and I remarked this week that it's the first time we have not seen presidential bumper stickers and yard signs.
This election has just been so polarizing - I've had to walk away from 2 friends over it. I just never knew some things about them, and when someone says "oh you're husband's brown, but not THAT brown" I just can't even. So yeah - not cool.

I would line my yard with Hilary signs. This is how I deal with people like this. Show her that her words don't have any effect on you and that you don't waiver on your beliefs. Jen Yep. There was a news article recently about a couple going away on vacation and arriving home to find their rainbow flag stolen (http://ktla.com/2016/08/24/massachusetts-community-shows-support-for-gay-couple-after-pride-flag-stolen/) and the entire neighborhood rallied in support and put flags up in front of all of their homes.

when you all use the word 'deplorable' it feels like you are saying 'see, Hilary was right...they are all deplorable" it was a "nasty" woman that my DH encountered...but using the term 'nasty' over and over - would make it seem okay that Trump said it and it's not in either case or you all are trying to be witty/funny gina It is an example of deplorable behavior, not this specific, but bad behavior in general is encourage by Trump and not by Hillary. I am so tired of hearing it is bad on both sides. What your DH experienced is also deplorable, and she should not have happened. but I have not heard of anyone on Hillary's side encouraging people to be violent. I think to say it bad on both sides is a such a stretch is laughable. The difference between Trump that Bitch t-shirts and Love Trumps Hate is oranges and apples. The only really bad anti trump shirts I have seen and only on the internet, have him with a Hitler mustache. Not in the same league at all.

When the candidate for POTUS acts like Trump does it gives rise to all sorts of deplorable behavior.

Probably won't help you much but was there cctv in the parking lot? Yes, and my car was visible. But they won't give me info from it without said police report. I don't want to waste police time on something like this since nothing was damaged or stolen, but am still livid that I have to choose whether to bother them or not. I am going to see about reporting it to local Channel 7 on Your Side . There might be interest in a local story about incidents like this. Sadly, they wouldn't do anything anyway. My husband had his identity stolen from Best Buy right down the street (with some of the best quality security cameras I've seen where they would have easily been able to identify the person...it was done at a location right down our street, completely local) and the police didn't do jack...not even call when (probably not like if) they bothered to look at the video, said they don't take copies and were unable to identify the person...they didn't even call my husband in to ask him if HE recognized the person. He had to call months later to find out that they closed the case without doing anything...I wouldn't doubt that they never even bothered to contact Best Buy to even look at the footage...but because of the law protecting the criminals, we couldn't even get access to the footage ourselves...the police report was only good to 'prove' to Verizon (and when notified, Verizon deactivated the iPhones immediately, most were immediately transferred to throw away phones at purchase, but one was still in service and could have been used to locate the thieves RIGHT THAT MINUTE if they had thought it through) and Best Buy that we didn't get the cards, max them out, and then file the false claim. We will be looking over our shoulders and will spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on credit monitoring through the course of our lifetime as a result of this and the police couldn't even be bothered to solve a crime when there was CLEAR VIDEO FOOTAGE AVAILABLE of the criminals (not just when they took out the cards and got the phones from the Verizon place inside of Best Buy, but also when they picked things up using in store pick up having ordered online). If they can't be bothered to solve a serious crime where they can access video of the thieves in probably the most solvable scenario of identity theft you could possibly drum up, they won't do anything about this, either. You'll be wasting hours of your time to go to the police station for them to just treat you like a number and do absolutely nothing.

The only house in our area with signs went from 2 for one trump and one for De Corte (a local NP race) for months to having about 20 in his yard as of yesterday...I thought it was hilarious. More signs are going to get people to support you. We've actually seen signs on business property...hubs works in a shopping center and there is a Trump/Pence sign there, which isn't allowed. He meant to take it down one night after work (can you imagine the hate he could get as a black man taking down that sign when a supporter was nearby in daylight when there is a lot of traffic? ) because of it not being permissible on that property...he forgot and noticed it the next day when we stopped by to print out something he had forgotten to print and commented on forgetting, but didn't dare stop to actually remove it then. He would have wanted to have taken it down if it were a Hillary sign, too. However, I can't say that I haven't seen support. He works for a union, politics is the name of the game for them, even if he doesn't like being at the center of it.

I know this too because someone stole my iPad Pro from a restaurant at a Sheetz. I did file a police report. There was clear footage of the woman taking it and of her license plates. But the plates were from PA, so not local. The police ended up making one call to Pittsburgh Police and that was the extent of the follow-up. $1500 device gone - with tons of video footage and even license plate info. That is one reason why I wouldn't bother the police with a report.

I admit to not having read every post, although I thought I was keeping up fairly well - i don't get where the 'lover of terrorism' comment comes from? Is that someone elses experience which has been posted? What I can say with a degree of certainty, is that people from both sides of the political divide and, and do, get shitty. I am sorry it happened to you, elaine, especially when someone is so cowardly as to leave a 'little note' (in pretty bad handwriting) rather than confront you.....but maybe it's better you didn't come out to your car and find some chihuahua yapping at your heels like it thought it was a wolf!!
