Holy fuck. The mental gymnastics are impressive. That's all I got. How about the gymnastics the press has used to make it look like he was actually mocking the disabled?
The press didn't need to perform any gymnastics. I watched him speak and drew my own VERY OBVIOUS TO THE NAKED EYE AND FUNCTIONING BRAIN WITHOUT ANY THIRD PARTY INTERPRETATION NEEDED conclusions.

Horseshit. He's running for public office. THat claim may have worked when his campaign was in its infancy during the primaries, but that's long gone now. He's a politician. He's playing all the same stupid games they all play at this point in the game. He's a politician. I contend that it takes years...NAY! DECADES! to become a proper politician. One isn't born with the ability to piss on people and convince them it's really rain, no...that's an especially refined skill that only comes about after years of practice.

Dunno. I talk with my hands. Drives my oldest son beyond crazy and he thinks my head would explode if I had to sit on my hands while trying to explain anything. So I figure I am a fairly good person to comment on this... and I have to say that his comments at the time, combined with the hand gestures at that time were a very poor choice of his intent was not mocking.
Whether he meant it or not, that was how it came across to most people. He has spent a life time interacting with people, enough to know how his body language is perceived. I just think he is so used to being around people who don't contradict him that he has forgotten that there is wide world out there that doesn't care if he approved of them or not who are going to call him on his behavior.

Even though he used the exact same mannerisms to mock Ted Cruz? Even though. Because you know what he looks like in all situations? EXACTLY like the jerks in middle school who would call people "retards" and make spastic motions. Even though the person they were mocking wasn't disabled in anyway, those jerks were undeniably mocking the disabled. That's exactly what Trump is doing here. Even if the reporter target weren't actually disabled, he is still undoubtedly making fun of the disabled like a clueless, mean, bully 12 year old.

Even though he used the exact same mannerisms to mock Ted Cruz? YES!! Because is his ignorant mind, those actions reflect someone who HE would call "retarded". And I guarantee you he would refer to the reporter and to Cruz as "retarded".
This thread is equal parts hilarious and fucking disturbing.

This mom of 2 special needs children doesn't believe any of that video. Trump is a fucking asshole that needs to burn in hell. He DID mock that reporter. He HAS made snide comments about those with disabilities. And you better damn well believe that my vote is going to the voice of all those with disabilities who can't vote because I fear for my childrens safety if he was to become president.

Even though he used the exact same mannerisms to mock Ted Cruz? Ann Coulter tried to say that when Trump was mocking the reporter "he was just doing a standard retard" like somehow that's better. Whatever his reason for doing "spazz" hands and no matter who he was doing it about, it still is making fun of a disabled person. But it seems you are sticking to your guns on this. That is worth extra difficulty points in the mental gymnastics exercise.

It all started on November 21, 2015 when, at a rally, Trump said he remembered seeing reports of Arab Americans celebrating the 9/11 terror attacks on rooftops in New Jersey shortly after the twin towers fell. This isn't exactly right. Trump's quote is: "I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering." This has definitely been debunked--a handful of people is not thousands and thousands. The rest of the column is bullshit, too.

So hold up. Let me get this right.
He was talking about the authors of this NYT piece. One of them is the reporter in question.
The reporter had previously been on a first name basis with Trump, had interviewed him face to face on more than one occasion. Trump tried to say he had no idea who this reporter is.
But this is after Trump said, in his own words, ABOUT THIS REPORTER, this poor guy you should see this guy - flailing his arms. And that part was on video. He was referring to the reporter while he did this.
So Trump was talking about this particular reporter, who Trump knew, imitated this guy to a tee, and suddenly it's all OK because it's just how he makes fun of everybody and Trump just had no idea he was actually making fun of an actual disabled person this time?
No, no, I'm not buying.
Especially after that NBC poll that said that the thing voters found most abhorrent about Trump was this incident.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Actually it is a relief. The way the press has presented it is that he was mocking the disabled. Turns out he wasn't. Wrong ... he was. You can justify it all you want, but that doesn't make it true.

Then people explained to us how hateful and cruel it was and we stopped. I taught fifth graders and can happily say that that kind of mocking was never done in class. Kids know better. Now there is a 70 year old man who would do that kind of mocking in front of a 20,000+ crowd and in front of cameras. Why? It just shows you how sheltered of a life he has led and that he thinks he can do or say anything to a crowd and the rest of the nation and world will stand with him. It is unreal to me.

Give him 10 years and he'll mature and stop mocking people. Cause that's what happened with the whole "p*ssy grabbing" comment right? He matured? At least that's what I've read from Trump supporters. This man wants to be our President. Whether he is mocking the disabled or just mocking people in general, neither screams "Presidential material" to me. I work at a junior high/middle school. I think we have students here more mature than he is!

He most certainly was mocking the reporter. ETA: Seriously Becky? You really don't think he was mocking the reporter's disability? When he said "you oughtta see this guy" and followed it with the gestures, that doesn't mean anything to you? Thus. You are freaking unbelievable.

I would be more inclined to believe that Trump's hand motions in relation to Cruz were implying Cruz was a "retard" more so than the hand motions were just that, hand motions.
Rationalize it all you want, you are not in his brain so you really don't know what he meant. I've had multiple conversations with a girl at work where I sympathize with how busy she is and how she shouldn't be burdened with xyz because she just doesn't have the time. In my head I'm thinking what a load of fucking bullshit that is because she has the least amount of work and skips out hours early every week. See? My actions in no way matched my words, but if you witnessed the conversion you would never know that.

I'm not a hard-core Hillary supporter-- just someone who believes in common decency and politeness.
I'm also someone who believes the old adage 'you dress and act for the job you want, not the one you have' and Donald Trump sure doesn't seem to be doing that. If he really wants the JOB of being the President he should start acting Presidential at SOME point, don't you think? And how much older does he have to get before he finally 'matures' anyway? 78? 80?
Why is it okay with you that he mocks ANYONE??

Why don't you become the parent of a disabled child, Becky? There are plenty waiting to be adopted. You live that life even 6 months, let alone decades, and THEN you watch that video. And I bet it doesn't matter one iota to you that he used similar motions to mock others. He mocked your child from that podium to all those people. And stupid GOP gymnastics to spin it won't work. The only people believe who believe that complete and total BS about that speech are literally ignorant about the reality of lives of people with disabilities, or performing extreme compartmentalization in order to not hate themselves for voting for Trump.

Read what I said. No whining here. I said I did not post it for the hard core Hillary supporters. I never said that people couldn't comment. I know that nothing is going to change the minds of the hard core Hillary supporters. The ones that gear up the outrage machine at every breath that Trump takes.
I wonder where the outrage about bullying was when Biden said he wanted to take Trump behind the gym? Oh, wait, that's okay as long as it was someone on the left making those comments. After all, it's a righteous cause. Where was the outrage when the Clinton campaign referred to "needy Latinos" and "taco bowl engagement"? Or how about discussing how they could use Eric Garner? His daughter is pretty ticked off over this discussion. Where was the outrage when they lamented that the San Bernardino shooter wasn't white?
Here's a favorite: How strengthening bribery laws so legislation can't be changed for political reasons. But, it's "REALLY dicey territory for HRC, right?" wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/17343#efmAFHAHJARzATdAeFAfj
I could go on and on, but there is never any outrage over anything connected to Hillary. C'est la vie
