It used to be fun, or at least exciting, to snag a really great deal. Now, everybody has a *deal*, mostly from marked up merchandise. My mom called me today to see if we'd be over later tonight because she has 25 pounds of ads in her newspaper, and maybe we could go shopping tonight. I'm just not feeling it anymore. There's nothing I want to get or give that's got a discount worthy of fighting the teeming masses. And I certainly don't want to get out tomorrow morning with 3 kids. Ugh.
I wish it were still fun. I think it crossed a line several years ago, and my inclination to get out has dropped a little more each year. I can't even remember the last time I went out for it. My oldest is 9... maybe once in his lifetime?
I'm (bored to tears) at work now, and will be ready to hang with my family this afternoon. Maybe I'll check out some online sales after I put my boys to bed, but probably not. I'd rather snuggle up and watch a movie with DH.
Anybody else? Do you still get the thrill of the hunt? Or have you given up the chase??

I don't think I've done Black Friday since before it was officially named Black Friday. I didn't even bother with looking for online "deals" this year. There's nothing we need or even want making it anywhere near worth the trouble and hassle. I looked this morning at the price on a Kindle Paperwhite which is the only thing I'm interested in, and $20 off wasn't much of an enticement. I might go ahead and grab one today, but probably not. I told DH that's the only Christmas thing I could think to ask for, so if he didn't get me one, they run the $20 off periodically and I'll get one in the next few months. It feels good to just keep skipping it.

We'lol be shopping tomorrow because DS is home from college, he needs some things, DH needs a haircut and tomorrow works better than Saturday. We will start late morning and if we snag a deal great, if not, oh well.
I hope because we will be going later we miss some of the crowd, at least the over zealous crowd.

we might hit a couple of stores - Joanns, Michaels, Gamestop - but maybe not. We've never been big Black Friday shoppers.

I used to go out on Black Friday to shop, but figure if I can get the items that used to lure me out online, I do that instead. I do like to hit some stores on Small Business Saturday. That's enjoyable shopping that puts some money into my community. I figure businesses like Target and Walmart are going to do just fine without me.

Nope. I've gone once or twice later in the morning to get one or two items. My sister is a full blown Black Friday shopper. I can't stand the crowds, not knowing if the item is still even in stock, etc. I've been watching the online sales instead. I watch the news and think how proud those parents who knock others down for a toy must be giving that toy to their kids on Christmas morning. Disgusting!

Hubby's working...girls are gone...so I'm treatingbmyself. I have a list if I get great if not I'll find others. I have fun and enjoy talking to people. Plus tommorrow my favorite thrift stores are having 40% off, I need some new clothes. I'm waiting at Old Navy as I type...then onto Wally world, target, michaels, Ulta, Forever 21 & Bath and Body. All of my shopping will be done come Saturday.

I did Black Friday once as a shopper when my kids were babies. To be honest, I'm not sure if it was when DS1 was a baby and I was pregnant with DS2 or if it was the following year. I've worked Black Friday three times, all in stores that do not see a mad rush. I could not work Kohls or Best Buy or any other popular places. I have very little patience for large crowds.
Besides, the deals aren't always that great and there has been very little that matched up with any list we had.

I've never done Black Friday shopping. I've almost always been done with the bulk of my shopping by then anyway. I don't like crowds or cranky and rude people so no amount of savings is worth dealing with that. On the Friday after thanksgiving my family eats leftovers, turns on Christmas music, and puts our trees up. It's an awesome day!

I think i tried it once and that was all for me, for the rest of my life. It was a sea of elbows and asses and carts, all touching me at every turn. Never again!

I avoid Black Friday like the plague. If I knew I could only get something at that time, perhaps I would change my opinion, but crowded parking lots with people texting as they walk down the aisles drives me crazy. It only gets worse inside. I am clearly too left brained to enjoy chaos. I will go to Michaels tonight though. That isn't crowded and I get good deals.

Not much here to shop in person, but I always use the opportunity to snag a few things online.

I stopped once it started bleeding into Thanksgiving Day. And now Black Friday is a week long thing. I'll online shop here or there but I don't really participate like I used to.

I rarely go shopping on Black Friday - there is nothing that I want to give that is worth the hassle of fighting the crowds. It isn't fun. Amen, sister! After working in retail for a good chunk of my life (including owning a storefront retail business for a number of years and DH did too) and having to work in that madness for far too long on the other side of the register, I'm definitely over it. I can't think of a single thing at any price that could entice me to go out in the snow and cold and fight through hoards of people all clamoring for a deal on the alleged "doorbusters" that are advertised but won't be in stock beyond the first handful of people through the door. Nope. No thanks. I don't need anything that bad. The most we do the whole BF weekend these days is go get a real tree, usually from some little local mom and pop tree farm. We avoid the mall and all mass retailers like the plague. If I do any shopping at all over the Thanksgiving weekend it's online. I may not get the bottom line best deals, but there's a value to me in not having to deal with crowds, traffic and insanity.

I still enjoy it. I have a friend that I have been going with for many years now. Our sons are the same age, so we've always kind of needed the same stuff. We have done the Thurs night stuff in recent years and that just didn't feel the same. So we are going back to meeting at 6am tomorrow at Target and getting what we can. That's what we'll enjoy.
I think this might be my last year really looking for deals for the kids though. They are both wanting to go out too now so we will see.

I'll pay extra to not deal with the crowds. There is no deal worth it to me. I'd rather support Small Business Saturday and Cyber-Monday.

I've done it a few times before it became Black Thanksgiving day. Not anymore. I actually was able to get the few things I wanted last evening and just after midnight last night. I'm glad to see that some of the stores are putting their door busters online. I got everything I was after, but that was only a few things anyway.

Well I work at Target for the holiday season, so I'm going to be involved in it whether I want to or not. But yes I agree, I'm not into all the hype. I don't vibe with the intent behind it. I don't care about new tvs or good quality headphones. I miss the days when BF started at 6am on Friday, when Thanksgiving had it's own day to itself.

I haven't been into a brick and mortar store on Black Friday in years. I did pick up a few things on Amazon yesterday and today - Hoover's version of the Roomba for half price, a cute new set of Christmas dishes, oh and Echo Dots for me and the girls.

Anybody else? Do you still get the thrill of the hunt? Or have you given up the chase?? Every year, I'd check out the ads at my in-laws, and then I'd end up either staying up or getting up at some o'dark thirty hour, totally laughing at myself. It was the thrill of the hunt. I wasn't looking for anything particular. I didn't need anything particular. I was just out there to hunt, damnit! And yes, that's why I would start laughing to myself while being pushed around by the crowds shopping before the sun even came up. This year, I needed regular serving pieces and found Pioneer Woman stuff at Walmart I just love. Got them. I found the Instant Pot ad o'dark thirty this morning. Got it. I ordered some much needed blankets from Kohl's while I was at it. And maybe I'll go out to get jeans for my son because he really needs them and Bass Pro is having jeans for $10 tomorrow. In other words..... I can say "no, I'm not going out" until I'm blue in the face and then turn right around and run out the door just because I can. You should ask us again tomorrow night.

I have purchased online more and more every year.
Only about 5% of my purchases are at b&m stores these days.
I was mildly irritated at all the ads in my email today - can't we just enjoy the holiday?
Now that we are back home from the feast, I may get a few things at Carter's - other than that. I'm enjoying being home, having a clean kitchen, and playing with the dogs. I treasure the time and don't want to be out shopping, parking, waiting in line etc.

My husband is at Best Buy with his dad tonight checking out a small sale TV for the media team on his robotics team that he mentors. Tomorrow he and I will go out and hit a couple places for fun in the late morning and have a nice lunch. We're in the big city visiting family so it's fun for us to go out and do a little shopping. We're not looking to score big deals or be out early with the crowds.
And he did some online shopping for clothing deals because he needs work clothes! We usually do some stocking up in the BF sales.

I hate crowds. I never enjoyed Black Friday shopping. My day consists of pajamas, crafting and watching movies.
