After 4 hours of listening to my husband dry heave loudly, 5 hours in the hospital, 3 hours of shitty sleep, and 3 hours at the pharmacy, my urge to shop is at an all time high. If paper issues puts anything new up today, there may be trouble! I'm so sorry to hear that you have had such a bad day. Hope you DH is okay.

So to keep myself from buying anything, I printed some older digital papers. But today I ran into trouble at Walmart--the have butter soft leggings now! For $5.86!! I miss buying lularoe but after one pair got a hole in it after one wear, I'm a little bitter so the cheaper the better. I only bought one pair just to see how they hold up. I didn't think non-crafty items counted. I got a clearance PJ while I was there. I am not counting it. This freeze was about crafty stuff for me. I have too much crafty stuff, not pajamas!

They don't but I have had a problem with buying leggings too so for me, it was pretty much any frivolous shopping needed to freeze! I'm only buying things I need--except that pair of leggings--I needed those!

Well, I didn't make it through the month. Late night, couldn't sleep, online browsing, email with MFT discount on sentiment stamps, items on my wish list, boom. 3 weeks worth of willpower is better than none...

Well, I didn't make it through the month. Late night, couldn't sleep, online browsing, email with MFT discount on sentiment stamps, items on my wish list, boom. 3 weeks worth of willpower is better than none... Three weeks is really good when you're used to buying whenever, wherever (we're meant to be together *booty shake* ). And you're pointing out to the factors that contributed to the purchase honestly rather than finding excuses. Don't beat yourself up over it! Also, late night spending is a genuine phenomenon that is being targeted by big business these days! For anyone who struggles with crisis shopping late at night, there is now an extension to help you curb it. Over here, still frozen. We had a major storm last night. Our region of France holds the world record the longest ever recorded lightning flash so we're very prone to major lightning when storms take place. As one of the old shutters of our bedroom is stuck, we were treated to a special effects light show in bed for most of the night. Beautiful but also tiring by the time the alarm clock rang. I had checked the weather for the rest of the day and did my grocery shopping online before leaving for work. Oh, what a joy to rush back home under the winter rain instead of stopping by the shop and having to walk back home carrying milk, vegetables, cheese and wine under an umbrella. The groceries were delivered (and I managed to break a nail carrying them into the apartment #typicalme) and I felt the satisfaction of life's little modern pleasures. Ah, despite all their flaws, I do love these times we live in...

oaksong bummer. I have purposely not looked at any MFT emails. I'm a sucker for their stuff. But at least you thawed for good product. 😉

It's taken me until this part of the month, but this morning I cancelled my Ali Edwards Story Kit and Stamp sub, as well as my Citrus Twist SB Kit sub. It was watching sneaks for CTwist, flicking through my recently arrived Review Story Kit/Stamp, and trying to stuff said kit into my overflowing AE box that I realised I just wasn't excited about them anymore. I'm keeping my Kelly Purkey kit because I use them, and looking forward to the next Feed Your Craft/ Brandi Kincaid kit.

You'll find plenty of people who quit AE recently (it looks like several people feel exactly like you right now) in the Studio Calicos Refugees thread (where we discuss all things Inked Brands, not solely Studio Calico). I hope you're experiencing positive feelings from cutting those ties and are looking forward to creating with your overflowing AE stash!

In the meh scrappy news of the day section: I just heard from one of the recipients of mini albums I've made (especially for her and about her and her husband) that she preferred the one time I made them a mini photo book rather than a scrap album. Not sure what made her think it was a diplomatic and polite thing to say. I tried to swiftly brush aside this faux pas by replying that I'd done a little photo book once because there were too many photos to scrap. Instead of realising that it had not been a very nice thing to bring up and just move on, her response was: "Next time, just ask and I'm sure I can find more photos so you can get me a photo book." Oh honey, no, there's not gonna be a next time. Who the fudge do you think I am? Your personal memory keeper? I know your spouse loves flicking through the albums I've made for you guys over the years but that's not enough incentive for me to cater to your specific desires. Those were friendly gifts (and I think our friendship just took a serious hit), made with a lot of love and attention, and in case you don't remember the nature of gifts: unexpectedly and for free. Looks like someone got a little too comfortable in our friendship and my wallet/time (how hard or expensive is it to just make your own damn photo book?). Still stunned about this conversation. She's got big, heavy, swinging brass ones - that's for sure! I'm sorry she disrespected you and undervalued your gift. What a crap weasel. It was too good of a deal to pass up. The Scrapbook Steals deal was 70% off plus I had a credit. I got $50 worth of product, Happy Camper and By the Sea, for $11 and change. And for a family that regularly spends time camping and at the beach I will definitely put all of it to use. That's an awesome deal!!!!

Hugs to you SleepingBooty. That was a sucky thing to say for sure. That ^^ I had some very ungrateful comments from. Few friends and relatives about handmade cards a few years ago. Needless to say they no longer get anything!

I am still technically frozen, but I did go purchase a new silhouette mat. I am making all the Photo Booth props for my son's senior dance tomorrow and I needed a new mat. Used a coupon, so 40%.

I've been sort of unofficially joining you this month, but I may break today. Holding strong at no purchases this month (except my FJ kit, which I have since cancelled), but now I think I need to order a few alpha stickers for my 2017 PL. I'm going to think about it. Might just make due with what I have in the spirit of the freeze. After all, that's why I have all those alpha stamps, right? sleepingbooty, I'm so sorry to hear your friend's reaction to the scrapbook that you made her. It does sound like it's time to stop making books for her.

LavenderLayoutLady anniefb carolynhasacat Thanks ladies. I don't understand why people feel they can bash scrappy gifts. It seems to be far less respected than other crafts, undeservedly so. I guess people dismiss the amount of time and work that has gone into it because part of the creative work is "done for you" with the printed papers and embellishments... Still frozen and going strong. We're spending this Friday night in, sipping on red wine while some Tchaikovsky plays in the background. I've just finished stitching on my PL cards for January. And packing as sensibly as possible for a few days away. I refuse to check baggage for short getaways. Not happening. I am not spending more time in an airport than I have to. anniefb In case you pop back in here before I leave tomorrow morning, how has the weather in Vienna been this week? We checked online but it's always good when you can get some immediate feedback. What are everyone's plans for when the freeze ends? Who is going to keep going? Who has already gathered a master list of items they are going to purchase in February?

I am going to keep going on my semi-Freeze.
I will keep my FJ kit but I am going to really try and not buy anything next month. I broke down twice this month (one for a digital from Ali, and then today for a Silhouette mat) but I dont have any projects next month for other people so I should be able to do it.

What are everyone's plans for when the freeze ends? Who is going to keep going? Who has already gathered a master list of items they are going to purchase in February? I'm holding out for WITL kit 2017. Ali said she thinks it will be out in March. I'm trying to last until then. I have really liked the WITL kits in the past and find them helpful to the project. After that, I'm giving myself some purchases around (inter)National Scrapbook Day in May. I'm 100% participating in that this year!

This morning I woke up with a head cold. Ticked me off major because I had crud in November, head cold in December and now another in January. So what did I do? I went to me LSS's quarterly garage sale and spent $25 after I put back an additional $20 in stuff back so I patted myself on the back but still bugged with myself that I couldn't resist the urge. And it was in that state that I went to Tuesday Morning next and spent $20. Damn cold.

What are everyone's plans for when the freeze ends? Who is going to keep going? Who has already gathered a master list of items they are going to purchase in February? I plan to keep going in February. Staying out of M's and HL has been a good thing. I will likely need adhesive in the next month or so but I think I'm good with everything else. Ok, I lied. There is a new release by Simple Stories called Emoji Love coming out in February or March and I can see getting a few of the papers for kids cards. And grammadee showed those new Bo Bunny emoji dies that would be oh, so useful. But even if I break down and buy these, I'm spending so much less than I used to. That's a win to me!

Well only 4 days to go. Except for the water-brush oopsy I'm very pleased with myself.
Over the Christmas holiday I took photos of my stamps, stencils, embossing folders and inks and cataloged them into Evernote. I'm not sure if I shared that here or not. I realized I have a lot of stuff I didn't know I had. That's the main reason I went on this freezing journey. Well that and my space limitations and my bank account! Anyway, my plan going forward is not to freeze, but to just chill. I will ask myself if I really need xxx? How often will I use it? I will not just buy something because it's on sale, or someone else has it.
There I typed it out and I'm going to try and stick to it.

My goal was to focus on using some of the things I own rather than just buying new stuff constantly. I have a cart and wish list with some things I'd like but I know I'll review it before I buy and I'll likely wait for a sale. I want to continue to focus on using stuff up with the goal to fit all my patterned paper back in the one drawer it is allocated in my space.

It's been freezing this week in Vienna sleepingbooty but I think the forecast is set to improve. It's the coldest January in Austria in 30 years and morning temps were in the -5 to -7 range. I was staying south of Vienna with a cousin but the temps in the city were pretty similar.

I stayed strong and didn't buy anything extra from KP's new release today!! Planning to stay frozen in February, I really don't need anything. I'm going through some supplies to donate to my son's first grade classroom, his teacher is setting up a new crafting station for them.

It's the last one of my 3-month commitment, so now I have to decide if I want to continue or not. I only broke my freeze once, but used some Christmas money so I'm ok with that. I plan to continue, although I will use the rest of my Christmas money on Say Cheese III when it comes out. I really need a Use It Up challenge more than just a freeze. I will go to CKC in April, so I hope to make it frozen until then.

I've been unofficially joining you all but I did have a minor thaw because I couldn't say no to that mini alpha set as part of KP's release. But since I've cancelled my SC sub I only sub to KP and AE...although my excitement has been extremely low for the past 3 AE kits. It's time to cancel after March (because I want the "eat" one). Good job to the rest of you!

Well, two more days (including today) left of January, and I've only spent $4.50
That's pretty good.
I think I'll continue into, and maybe through February.
I'm allowing photos and adhesive. Might need page protectors, I'm not sure.
Are we having a February Freeze thread?
