How are you all doing? I know it's only day one, but there are sooooo many sales out there. I put stuff in my cart (SSS, MFT and Amazon) but didn't click the purchase button. Yay me! I deleted the M's and J's e-mails and threw out the January flyer from my local craft store. My last real purchase (stamps, dies, embossing powder) was Dec 18th at a LF Valentine release class. I did buy envelopes last Friday, but in my freeze supplies like envelopes, necessary card stock (not just because it's pretty) and adhesive don't count. Although I shouldn't need any of that for at least a year... My freeze is for stamps, dies, inks, and stuff like that. I needed to clean up my room from the mess of Christmas cards and tags. I started yesterday afternoon. DH walks in (he's really not supposed to be in there but I had the heater on and it was warm ) Here is our conversation - DH: "What are you working on?" Me: "My favorite thing...". DH: "Organizing?" Me: "You know me so well". DH: "Organizing so you can see what you need while it's on sale?" Me: "I'm not buying anything! I can do this!" He walks away shaking his head, not believing me. So my motivation to do this is to prove to him that I have some self control. LOL!

In the past year I've done a major purge and still my room is full (not overflowing). Other than wanting/needing a bigger desk (found what I want at IKEA) I am just feeling done. No desire to shop at this point and time.

I think I will be just fine this month since I'm working on a themed album and have an abundance of supplies for it. My challenge will be to stop checking the daily deal sites. I didn't want one single thing from them for over the past month but I know they'll have something I want this month so I just won't look.

Just saying hi to all the members who are NOT spending on crafting this month. We will do this! We have enough supplies to last us and when the month is up if there was something we couldn't live without we can get it then, right?
Happy New Year one and all!

Well, I had a fail, sort of...couldn't resist a few things on the Target clearance. As I had my armful of crap, I remembered the Frozen Pea Challenge and put most of it back. Ended up with 5 items and spent less than $3.50. But it isn't the money, it is bringing more crap into the house. Since my personal challenge is to use up/sell/giveaway the equivalent, I am hoping to be productive this afternoon when I meet my friend to craft. If I can make a half dozen cards, I'll call myself equal.
Happy New Year to everyone!

I just want to play with all my fun goodies. Organize, make kits, work on my December Documented and other projects. At this moment I have no need or wants, but I know that won't always be the case. Gotta be strong!!!

We have to make it through the whole month and if you need to spend $5 a week you can do that, too. The bringing crap into the house is hard. I would love to go shopping and buy the jeans I want. So far I have put it off for a week. I will keep trying to forget about them. Sustainability is what we are going for here. You spent your $3.50 at Target and now you are done. Feel happy you got something you loved and move forward. You can do this!!!

I'm holding strong today.
I'm choosing not to go to stores, b&m and online.
Not even looking at the great sales.
I don't need anything.
Other than the photos I ordered this morning, both December 2016 and December Daily-specific photos. I don't count pics towards my no spending January.

So far, so good! trying to organize for a crop in a couple weeks. All I need is to get some photos printed. I'll do some at home and am going to get 101 free (shipping only!) from Shutterfly.

I have shopped much more the past two years than I have been creating, and that needs to change! So far, I have deleted all the "on sale" emails, and I hope I have the willpower to stay away from all the online stores.

DH: "Organizing so you can see what you need while it's on sale?" That part is the funniest! Well, I had a fail, sort of...couldn't resist a few things on the Target clearance. As I had my armful of crap, I remembered the Frozen Pea Challenge and put most of it back. Today? Target is open today? Well it's only the first day. Some of us are not used to this frozen thing...lol Just because you reminded me OP. I just went and deleted any scrappy emails. Now just have to not open any enabling threads. I'm busy purging and reorganizing my pantry so I should be safe for a long while.

Fun Fact: There will be another sale. I promise you there will be another one. Then another one after that!

Doing great 14 hrs in! Mainly because family is visiting and I'm very preoccupied. It's still a win in my book.

I am officially declaring my commitment to no online shopping in January, just to prove I can. The only exception will possibly be my SSS kit. I made purchases from just about every online site in the last month, including My Favorite Things order at 11pm last night. I should have plenty of goodies to entertain me for a month without spending!

I'm only semi-frozen but still trying not to spend anything this month. I spent the day un-decorating Christmas, watching football and fussy cutting things for pages. So far so good!

I have new supplies that I got for Christmas so I am holding strong. Just need to get over this head/chest cold I came don with so I can play. I find I shop more when I am sick since I do not feel like creating. That online shopping is just so convenient !

I deleted the emails in my inbox from the scrappy places. I'm good for today. The test will be if we head to the city ...where there's a HL...I got a GC for christmas. I'm hoping to hold out until they open the one they are building here.
Working on some cards today...

Day 1-serious withdrawal is setting in! My biggest challenge is not going to check out the online stores! So far so good! But DH is watching football tonight, I will be scrapping and that always starts with checking out SSS. I guess I can add stuff to my wish list instead of my cart right?? Gotta stay focused! I am determined to do this!

I think I'll be okay for awhile at least. I have more than enough "stuff" in my room.
I've also been organizing and purging (sort of) for the last week or so. I haven't actually purged any supplies but I've tossed unnecessary crap that accumulates in my room. I've also tidied up my actual scraps that I store in page protectors. So much In there that really wasn't worth saving. I had just been lazy while cleaning up after projects.
I just tossed a whole shelf of old magazines to make room for albums. I never look at the magazines anymore because Pinterest is so much easier. I don't have to go through a dozen magazines to find what I'm looking for.

Well, its noon where I am and I havent bought anything yet! So Im gonna call that a win! That's my kind of success story! I got my jillibean soup order yesterday. And I've resisted so many sales. I've really been learning the reason behind my compulsive shopping and it's been a good journey. Day one: success!

I've just unfollowed the final scrapbook brands from social media and unsubbed to every SB newsletter (except Kelly Purkey ) that were still in my feeds and inbox. Since I've already been frozen since end November, the whole no-buy thing is not hitting me hard at all now that we're in January. I've gone through withdrawal several weeks back already. It's really all just a matter of changing habits and that takes a few weeks. Here's what I did in December (up to today): - make sure no SB-related websites were pinned to my web browser start page/in my favourites/bookmarked - clean out cookies + history so that I wouldn't get the scrappy websites pop up as direct suggestions if I started typing the first letters of one of them (it was almost like a reflex sometimes) - unfollow SB-related accounts on social media (only kept my two favourite) - unsub completely from SB newsletters (just kept the one) - reduce my exposure proactively by not going to blogs/boards that are major enablers as frequently as before (and avoid clicking on posts that talk about new collections and such) - focus on working on a project that has a deadline and trying to meet as many of the "milestone deadlines" I (realistically) set for myself over the course of several weeks to make sure I'd finish it on time (Christmas gift) despite how busy I was - stop hoarding stuff "for next year's DD" or whatever other distant project, meaning if I felt like using it, I didn't think too far ahead and just used it I hope the no-spend part of this challenge becomes easier as the days go by for everyone! Hang in there.

Doing OK over here...plugging along with my 2016 PL album. The only snafu I have is that I ran out of ink/paper for my selphy. So I went and printed a whole ton of photos from my old Epson and the color is so wonky even though I have not changed any settings. I'm thinking my spending freeze might be lifted to replace a printer. Ugh!
