Today, I made a thank you card from the scraps on my desk. That was a "you know you have too much stuff when" moment. I used a stamp I had never used before. I am going to make a few more thank you and birthday cards to have on hand. After that, I am going through my stamps and purging ones I will never use since they don't all fit in their container. Yay for organizing and creating! @giantsfan Boo to your hubby. You can do this!

The LSS kind of near me is on a street that has horrendous traffic and I hate driving down it with a passion. I have only been there twice and that was last summer. It's a pain to get to and I won't go there often I know that. (score!)
Michaels is in this mall that is a BIG pain in the neck to get to. I mean you have to drive blocks to double back to get to it. I only go every month or every 2 months max. I am all about convenience now.
These are strategies I am using. I haven't bought anything online for a long time either. That helps, too.

I've just unfollowed the final scrapbook brands from social media and unsubbed to every SB newsletter (except Kelly Purkey ) that were still in my feeds and inbox. Since I've already been frozen since end November, the whole no-buy thing is not hitting me hard at all now that we're in January. I've gone through withdrawal several weeks back already. It's really all just a matter of changing habits and that takes a few weeks. Here's what I did in December (up to today): - make sure no SB-related websites were pinned to my web browser start page/in my favourites/bookmarked - clean out cookies + history so that I wouldn't get the scrappy websites pop up as direct suggestions if I started typing the first letters of one of them (it was almost like a reflex sometimes) - unfollow SB-related accounts on social media (only kept my two favourite) - unsub completely from SB newsletters (just kept the one) - reduce my exposure proactively by not going to blogs/boards that are major enablers as frequently as before (and avoid clicking on posts that talk about new collections and such) - focus on working on a project that has a deadline and trying to meet as many of the "milestone deadlines" I (realistically) set for myself over the course of several weeks to make sure I'd finish it on time (Christmas gift) despite how busy I was - stop hoarding stuff "for next year's DD" or whatever other distant project, meaning if I felt like using it, I didn't think too far ahead and just used it I hope the no-spend part of this challenge becomes easier as the days go by for everyone! Hang in there. You really are committed! Rarely does an original idea come out of my craft room so I need IG, blogs and Pinterest. Most of my Pinterest boards are based on stamp sets that I own and I check it out for ideas for using the items I have.

I didn't expect to have any challenges today but I did. It was the last day to pre-order the stamp set for the Fit 2017 class I'm in. I also discovered that the die set I got for Christmas has a matching stamp set. I managed to stand firm.

I've been away for a few days with no access to shopping which made it incredibly easy. I suspect the rest of Jan will not be quite so easy.

Doing ok over here because I'm on vacation in Europe. It'll get tougher when I get home in Feb again. I even cancelled my Hip Kit sub because I just haven't been feeling the last couple of kits. Thinking about replacing it with a Cocoa Daisy sub in a month or two.

Made it through day 1. No crafty shopping or diet pop. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment, giving up my two favorite things at once.

Made it through day 1. No crafty shopping Good for you! I made it through the first day. It wasn't too hard. I think the hard part will be when I next need to hit up Walmart. They have enough scrappy stuff themselves, but it's also located next to a giant Michael's. That's my weakness.

How are you all doing? I know it's only day one, but there are sooooo many sales out there. I put stuff in my cart (SSS, MFT and Amazon) but didn't click the purchase button. Yay me! I deleted the M's and J's e-mails and threw out the January flyer from my local craft store. My last real purchase (stamps, dies, embossing powder) was Dec 18th at a LF Valentine release class. I did buy envelopes last Friday, but in my freeze supplies like envelopes, necessary card stock (not just because it's pretty) and adhesive don't count. Although I shouldn't need any of that for at least a year... My freeze is for stamps, dies, inks, and stuff like that. I needed to clean up my room from the mess of Christmas cards and tags. I started yesterday afternoon. DH walks in (he's really not supposed to be in there but I had the heater on and it was warm ) Here is our conversation - DH: "What are you working on?" Me: "My favorite thing...". DH: "Organizing?" Me: "You know me so well". DH: "Organizing so you can see what you need while it's on sale?" Me: "I'm not buying anything! I can do this!" He walks away shaking his head, not believing me. So my motivation to do this is to prove to him that I have some self control. LOL! Now you HAVE to do it just to spite him !

As my freeze ended on December 31st I started a new kit club and it charged on January 1st. I do not actually think that anything will arrive at my home until February as shipping will take a little longer to get to Europe. I will continue to use my stash until then. I have faith in all of you!

Doing OK over here...plugging along with my 2016 PL album. The only snafu I have is that I ran out of ink/paper for my selphy. So I went and printed a whole ton of photos from my old Epson and the color is so wonky even though I have not changed any settings. I'm thinking my spending freeze might be lifted to replace a printer. Ugh! That doesn't count. You can't use your supplies if you don't have photos!

Well today my husband is home with kidney stones so I took this bonus to clean my office. It's not very big and I had bought a futon for my brothers visit in October and it is just too big for the room. So the kids took over the room and have trashed it. So today I cleaned and threw stuff away and rearranged it so the futon fits and it was refreshing! I'm going to craft all day while he's knocked out on meds

I have plenty of paper, and was thinking of trying to go on a spending freeze since I didn't do much scrapping last year. Then I started matching up photos with paper and noticed a total lack of anything nautical in my stash... I rented a pedal boat last summer with DD, and we also visited a lighthouse... I'm really kicking myself for not buying any anchor/sailing/boat themed anything last summer, I thought about it (before the trip) but second guessed myself. Grrr.
I might have something in my Silhouette library but I really want cute anchor stamps!

Well, it is January 2, and I'm not sure how I'm doing. Sadly, I broke the freeze at an all day crop yesterday...but it was only for a couple sheets of paper that I needed to finish a layout. Had the store's computer system been working, I could have used some "points" I had to cover the purchase. I think I'm still calling this a win because usually I spend way more when I'm at a crop and I finished 7 pages entirely from the stash that I brought with me. Besides, I discovered that the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection would be perfect a bunch of photos I'm working on and I resisted the temptation to purchase. Either the paper will still be there in February or I will find something else at home to use. Hopefully the latter.
Onward and upward...no more spending for the rest of the month!

I have remained frozen in 2017. 😊 i am a stress shopper and this past week has been full of stress. Lost my dad 12/26, but he had a wonderful Christmas seeing all the kids and 4 very close friends. We had brought him home just 3 weeks ago, after he had been in a nursing home for 1.5 years (had 2 strokes). We are trying to focus on the positive, he was home, saw friends and family, veterans were at the cemetery with salutes, guns and flag presentation to my mom. As a WW2 navy vet, he would have been so honored!!! The day he was buried, my 4 kids took our 12 year old boxer to the vet to be put down. He had a stroke. Please forgive the long post, but it feels quite cathartic. Because I had originally decided to freeze in January, and then everything happened, I now have orders from Jillibean, ACOT and scrapbook.com coming. i had taken scrapbooks for the viewing and they were enjoyed by many. i have a picture of my dad when he was around 4 years old which I will scrap one day. Pictures are treasures, aren't they?

I don't have a lot of pictures of him but what I do have is so precious to me. Sending you warm healing hugs.

Yes, pictures are treasures and need to be preserved. I lost my Dad in December 2004 and that was my real scrapbooking start. I ended up (quite happily) with all the family photos. I even have pictures of my Grandfather in his WWI uniform. I knew I had to do something with these memories so they would still be around for my kids. Little did I know that this "something" would eventually require its own room!! I'm sorry you have had such a tough time. Best wishes for happier days on the horizon.

If you do: So I was planning to freeze this month and go on for as many months as possible; but I got an Explore for Christmas and Michael's is having 50 % off of all Cricut products that are not on clearance. I want pens. So other than the pens I am not buying anything else. Fingers crossed.
