Whispers Bought three things at the Target Dollar Spot. A 4 pack of diecut felt feathers, and two Valentine's stamp sets. Total spent, $3.Hangs head in shame. But it's cheaper than wine, right? My "hangs my head in shame" moment came yesterday to the tune of $140...now I'm frightened of what I will receive in the mystery boxes that I had no willpower to resist! What did I do? Did you have the $140 to spend? If so, enjoy and make it all right by scrapping the poo out of those supplies. It certainly is never shameful if you have the $ and use the items.

The two things I find hardest to resist when it comes to scrapbook supplies is a mystery box/grab bag and a scrapbook yard sale. I should have known one would happen at the very beginning of the year!

I resisted the Scrapbook.com free shipping on orders over $50. The first one is always the hardest. It'll get easier. I can always just go and check out my stash. It's not like I actually need anything. Hopefully I'll make a nice dent in it by spring. The bigger the stash dent the better the reason to buy a few things.

I have shopped much more the past two years than I have been creating, and that needs to change! So far, I have deleted all the "on sale" emails, and I hope I have the willpower to stay away from all the online stores. I did a major purge of craft store emails earlier today too

Day five has started over here. Heavy sea wind blowing over the city and dropping our early winter morning temperatures all the way down to 0°C. Not a single itch to get myself anything with regards to scrapbooking. My epiphany break starts at noon and I'm so looking forward to getting together with both our families again to celebrate it, make memories (and take a few photos to scrap). I just wanted to send some encouragement to those who are having a bit of a rough time with the start of their frozen month: I have been frozen since late November (on more than just scrap supplies, to be honest) and the money I've saved so far is proving to be a nice little extra cushion. It has been incredibly cold in the AM and PM over here for the past week or so and my pair of high-heeled black booties had said sayonara last autumn. I had been going to work in high-heeled pumps instead but with the sudden rise of the mega sea wind, I was freezing in them yesterday. My toes were begging for something warmer I could wear a pair of socks under. Disclaimer: I live in a big city and go to work on foot + public transport. Saving money in December has allowed me to purchase a nice replacement pair last night without any need to justify the purchase or feel a pang of guilt over it. I'm not stretching my budget nor do I find myself thinking to myself/excusing myself to other people: "But I really, like reaaaally, needed them!" I just got them and didn't feel anything negative. So, keep going! If you've spent already: no worries. You can pick up right where you left off and continue with the no-spend January. It's alright! Your membership did not get revoked... This is an exercise and you won't get through it in a straight line. It's about understanding how your brain works with regards to spending, how to limit the flow of stuff entering your life so you can live better, it's not about who's going to be the "strongest" Pea. You can do this, Frozen Peas! (just make sure your toes aren't frozen )

I have remained frozen in 2017. 😊 i am a stress shopper and this past week has been full of stress. Lost my dad 12/26, but he had a wonderful Christmas seeing all the kids and 4 very close friends. We had brought him home just 3 weeks ago, after he had been in a nursing home for 1.5 years (had 2 strokes). We are trying to focus on the positive, he was home, saw friends and family, veterans were at the cemetery with salutes, guns and flag presentation to my mom. As a WW2 navy vet, he would have been so honored!!! The day he was buried, my 4 kids took our 12 year old boxer to the vet to be put down. He had a stroke. Please forgive the long post, but it feels quite cathartic. Because I had originally decided to freeze in January, and then everything happened, I now have orders from Jillibean, ACOT and scrapbook.com coming. i had taken scrapbooks for the viewing and they were enjoyed by many. i have a picture of my dad when he was around 4 years old which I will scrap one day. Pictures are treasures, aren't they? I'm so very sorry for your losses

I am still not shopping! I went to Michaels, HL, Joanns and Target today (all for other stuff) and did not purchase a single thing related to paper crafts.

Well, I am a sucker and broke my freeze - I bought one digital item at Ali's site to see if SC had changed the wording on their PayPal invoices (because of the paperwork filed by April).
But I am now back to being frozen. And I will make something scrappy today as punishment for my misdeed.

I went to Hobby Lobby today to pick up a shelf that was backordered for DD. I did not even walk past the registers! The manager retrieved my item, I paid for it and left. Whoo! Oh no! We go next week to the Nearest children's hospital, which has a HL that I always stop at! I totally didn't think this no spend January through. I might have to make a concession for next week.

I had to make another concession today. I couldn't find my rolodex tab punch and I have altered cards due in the mail by the 20th. I just had a little punch that I picked up at the office supply store for a couple of dollars. I searched online for one - the same one was going for $23!!!! What, the What?! I purchased the HS rolodex notch punch. At least it's big and I won't lose it.
Hanging my head in shame!

Instead of buying stuff, I took my box of stamp sets tonight and went through each one to select which I plan on using in my PL spreads for the start of 2017 as well as which alpha set I'll be using as my statement design element for the year. I am now flipping through some embellishments and starting to decide which might work for January.
It's really fun shopping your own stash, no matter how little it is!

My goal for 2017 is curb all recreational spending. I did just order a new desk for my scrapbooking room, but that was something I had already planned to replace when I found the right one. It's only Jan. 5th, but I'm feeling really good and haven't been tempted to shop.

Used some paper from a 6x6 pad I have never used before. Also felt good to use my Big Shot with some dies (I hate to think what I have invested in dies). Made thank you cards tonight. I resisted the Scrapbook.com free shipping on orders over $50 Me too, that was tempting.

Update on me: I have bought nothing so far this month and am staying strong. There is truly nothing I need, but you know how it goes. Trip to Michaels or whatever have you but no nothing has been bought. I am pretty good with supplies so there is truly nothing I want. Forget the word need. I haven't bought any planner supplies in a couple of months. I just don't feel up to it right now. Lots of stuff going on at home right now (good and not as good) but it is reality. I am just happy I have gone 5 days with no purchases. Success!

I haven't had a chance yet to read how everyone's doing, but I wanted to check in while I had a chance. My laptop died right after Christmas, and luckily it was still under warranty, but they have to replace it, and it's back-ordered for another 3 weeks. I guess on the upside, I can't be too tempted by online shopping right now and for pretty much the rest of January! On the downside...I can't use my Silhouette or print photos, so I'm not going to be doing a lot of scrapping.
So I'm cleaning. I've got a huge box of stamp pads that need a home if anyone has suggestions, and I know I'll have some other stuff. The place I usually donate is a couple hours away and I'm not spending the gas to get rid of scrapbook stuff if I can't spend the money on scrapbook stuff!
Hope everyone's holding up! I'll pop back in in a few days.

I am here to admit that as I went through my email to delete crafty emails, I opened a couple of them...lol Oops! But I wasn't tempted by anything and off to the trash they went! I also have not been tempted by any enablig threads, but I have had to remind myself not to open any, though.

I went to the LSS today on lunch - BUT I bought my adhesive that is being discontinued and is really hard to find right now. So I'm good with that Tomorrow I'll be in a different town and will be stopping at their craft store to see if they have my adhesive but will only buy it if they have it (nothing else)

Well, Paislee Press released their latest 4x6 templates and I didn't resist. I'm planning to streamline my PL this year by using them as a base for monthly spreads so I figure it's well worth the $3.60. On a side note, my last Story Stamp arrived today and I was so disgusted by the amount of money I've shilled out on these and the kits. Should've canceled ages ago, just not worth it. The biggest benefit to a freeze for me is really re-evaluating the value in the products I'm buying. When there's no hype, it makes me wonder WTH was I thinking? LOL Needless to say, I'm anxiously awaiting my KP splurge from last month. That's gonna be GOOOOD!

It all started with an innocent email - the item you wanted is back in stock. But it was just one tiny little thing. I took a look at something on my SSS wishlist, and popped it into my cart, along with the new item. I told myself I would just hang on to the cart for a while, wait until February to order. Ha. Lucky for me, the wishlist item is now out of stock. Whew.
I got all of my KP and MFT items today that I ordered in Dec., and I'm finding plenty of paper to create with. No need for more!

I went to the local craft store to purchase items for my co-worker that I mentioned above. Well of course they were clearancing a whole lotta stuff! I poked through it, picked some stencils and other items out. I carried them around while I was shopping for CoWorker, but then I walked back to the clearance area and put them back. Yay me! I can do this!

I'm officially Epiphany-d out. Four Kings' cakes (plus mandatory artisanal cider or cava) down, one final one to go tomorrow. Christmas seasons are long in the south of Europe, I tell ya. Better wear a pair of jeggings than skinny jeans. The upside is that I've just been so busy with family gatherings and visiting friends that shopping is but a distant echo right now. No scrapbooking done at all over the past couple of days. However, I did take some lovely pictures for my PL January spread. One does what one can... I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and not suffering too much from being on a freeze. Double thumbs up to all you wonderful ladies!

Oh you peas! I laugh with you, not at you. I went to the Paper Issues website yesterday to see what was new. But I did not buy anything! Darn, I am breaking my own rules. But in the end it is about controlling ourselves, right? Not about putting blinders on.
