Well tonight I finished my December Daily - except for one 6x8 photo that I need to have printed online and shipped to me and one 3x8 journal spot that my youngest needs to journal about a ski trip he went on without me.
But other than that - I am done. WHOOP!
I have already packed up all my DD supplies minus a FJ Christmas paper add-on.
Yay me!

My son promised so sit down and type up his journaling this weekend so here's hoping by next Friday I can put it on the shelf and be done.

I'm still frozen. I had a Tim Holtz tiny attacher refill in my Amazon cart, but because of the freeze, I didn't complete the purchase. I figured it would still be there in February. I am so glad I didn't buy because I found a pack in my drawer when I was looking for something else. Yay!!! I have done a bunch of organizing, stash busting, and creating so far, which makes me very happy. It's almost time for a new Story kit reveal, and I cancelled my subscription, so I am going to bust out one of my unused Ali Edwards Story kits this weekend. It will feel like I bought something new

mom Woot woot, high five on the party train! I feel your pain regarding that 6x8 photo though. It's frustrating when you're missing just the one thing and it's beyond your control. But hey, it's as if... jennoconnell Yay for digging out an old Story kit instead! That sounds like a great way to start the year and finally use some of those older supplies. We're all guilty of being supply hoarders rather than supply users around here... Woops! Elsabelle Thank you! We'll bundle up and face the (even greater) cold. And I'll get to see the exibition I was dying to see before it ends on January 30th. Little victories (and big Wiener schnitzels )! And I agree: being busy with a project really does help to distract from all the buying impulses. Congrats on (almost) being done with the big album! Linda Hey, if you're hesitant about it, you can always sleep on the purchase a few nights or plan out how exactly you'd use up a third/half of the products. Or set yourself the challenge of making X layouts/spreads/cards before clicking the 'buy' button just so you have some extra incentive to work? Whatever works for you. This thread isn't supposed to make you feel bad about a purchase that could really serve you. sfscrapper Buying more than you're creating? Oh, sounds like you're just... Welcome! It's a little cold over here but, hey, the cold never bothered us anyway... (this thread's going to be one long Frozen song fest, isn't it mom? ) In other news, I think I'm getting some scrappy gifts for my birthday in a few weeks. There was a parcel delivery and my boyfriend rushed to the door to go pick it up downstairs. He was far too secretive bringing it back up. Secret Santa secretive. And I couldn't help but recognise the tape on the parcel which is a personalised tape from an online scrap shop. The winter sales have begun over here so it looks like he might have made a purchase from that online shop to buy me some marked down scrappy goodies. There are no SB coupons available at all over here so if I buy stuff, it's always full price and usually said full price is higher than in the US due to import costs so, let's just say it's a painfully expensive hobby. Gosh, he truly is a man after my heart. Dying to find out what he got me though. He so knows nothing about SBing. I'm refraining myself from going to said website to see what they have up for sale. It's hard. I need constant distraction. Like cat videos. On that note, happy frozen Caturday everyone!

sleepingbooty You're hilarious! 5:45 am here and I can't sleep. Reading your post made me giggle! Haha, I think you've reached that stage of sleepiness when everything sounds super funny... To bed, to bed, sleepy scraphead! Before you wake up with some drool marks and your computer's keyboard etched into your face. (Although, mind you, that would make a terrific photo to scrap! Eh, I might just have to keep you up a little longer to satisify the gods and goddesses of Mount Scrapbookus... )

nicolep You're one strong scrapper. Far stronger than me. I'd be in bed with a 'Do not disturb' sign and no intention of getting up before it's lunch time. Whatchu workin' on, mama? Also, coffee? Extra strong?

I just deleted a 60% off coupon from M's without even opening the email.
Feeling pretty strong right now.
I've been working on my DD. I'm getting my fix of new by opening all the packs of stickers and embellishments that I got for it and hadn't used until now.

Oh yes sleepingbooty ! I love iced coffee and I have one already going down the hatch! I am working on my Christmas thank you cards! Did somebody say Christmas? We're such a lazy bunch of hedonists over here. Christmas thank you cards are virtually unheard of. Most of us don't even send Christmas cards. At all. Maybe one to the family member who lives far away and can't travel to come celebrate this year. And that's about it. Whenever I'm in the UK around Christmas, I'm always amazed at the packs of Christmas cards that are sold over there? "Who could ever need 15 Christmas cards?" LavenderLayoutLady The sweet sensation of opening a brand new pack of embellishments, right?

I'm still frozen. I really haven't been scrapping much. That gives me a built in argument to remind myself not to buy more. Plus I haven't been going to my LSS or Michaels. Out of sight out of mind!

you all should be proud of me - we went to Hobby Lobby AND Michaels today and I was really good. In HL I did pick up TWO sheets of paper BUT I already have a 2-page layout in progress this morning using them so I figure that doesn't really count.
In Michaels I used my 60% coupon on photo squares

Glad to hear you ladies are still holding on strong! I was losing my resolve to stay frozen a few days ago and came REALLY close to ordering something online. I justified it to myself as "well, if I have FJ ship it with my Feb kit, then it's not really a Jan purchase". It didn't help that DH was home all day and watched me through it, continually saying, "you have done well so far. Why don't you just buy it if you want it so badly". Now looking back, I'm not sure if he was being sweet or if I was moody due to being frozen, haha. I was too busy with my internal struggles to notice. It's probably bc I was stressing him out...oops. I have, however, turned my shopping focus to useful purchases (yay!). It hasn't been easy, but we are about halfway there!!! Go, Peas, go!

Well my biggest temptation was the gold puffy hearts from Crate Paper, but I was waiting because last year I bought a bunch of stuff and it would show up in a Hip Kit. Sure enough they are in the February kit (which is my freeze exception).

Another frozen Monday. We're expected to go through a wave of extra cold temperatures for the next few days. The electricity supply of the region is going to go under some severe stress. We're on the Mediterranean coastline so it's extremely unusual for it to get *this* cold. Fingers crossed our electricity will not get cut off over the next few days... I've been keeping away from the website my SO bought from because it's just such a lovely and unexpected surprise (and I don't want to ruin it). I actually don't care if I don't like what he got me because I'm feeling so grateful he has decided to give me something he knows nothing about, nobody around me knows nothing about (I haven't got a single IRL scrappy friend) and that just takes up space in our small apartment (my scrap supplies are stored in my wardrobe and I scrap sitting on the floor at our coffee table). That makes it very special to me. I'm actually going to get a scrappy parcel from SC without breaking my freeze. I only realised last week that there was an order I never got last year! I contacted their CS and got a reply already. They've refilled the order for free and it's on its way to me. Oh hello scrappy goodies I should've gotten months ago... Happy start to the new week and may your no-scrappy-purchases mood swings/tantrums not last long!

That husky in sleepingbooty's post is my soul-sister.
I'm still waiting on a laptop, so still being MOSTLY good, but very frustrated. I've taken the ancient shaggy fringe off my dining room shades and replaced it with a beaded fringe. I wet-shampood my carpets. I sorted my china cabinet. I found my dining room table. (It was under stuff from my grandmother's house when she passed away almost 2 years ago.) I reorganized the linen closet and the drawers in my scrapbook room. I'm in the process of sorting my paper and I'm down to the last bit of reorganizing my stamps and getting everything swapped into Avery Elle Pockets--except I ran out of pockets, so that's going to hold a bit.
I did cave and make a purchase. I went to the dentist the other day and found out I need $1200 in dental work, which was incredibly stressful. The money was a little stressful, but more that I really hate having dental work done. Anesthesia doesn't work properly on me, so it's guaranteed to be painful, it's 3 teeth in the very back of my mouth, and I gag super easy since my pregnancies nearly 20 years ago. *sigh* I'm getting THAT old. Anyway, I came home to an email from SSS with a couple stamps I've been wanting since the day I saw them, and one is reserved for February. I will have happy mail in February. I have no regrets.
So I've been mostly good, horribly bored, and I'm stressed out over things that aren't really problems, but they sure feel like it right now. Oh...and I gained 3 lbs. Clearly I am a stress-eater, and the fried pickles I made at midnight are NOT going to help that.

I confess to a failure yesterday. I went to Michael's to pick up a package of white cardstock (totally allowed in my definition of freeze). But then I looked around. Mistake!!!! I found a new 12x12 pad of paper that will be perfect for older girl cards. This is an area in all my card making supplies where I am lacking and now I've got something that will work for this age group. And it was $6. That's my justification. I'll be making birthday cards just as soon as I'm done with Valentine's Day cards.
Back to the freezer.

Well I'm still frozen but I've had to keep my bank account near empty to stay committed.
I watch hoarders a lot and I'm realizing that for me, it's the act of acquiring things that I'm addicted to. And once something came in I was already ordering another something be it leggings or scrapbook stuff. And I was doing that to fill a void in my home.
We've faced down those voids and gotten some tough conversations going and this weekend I made about 30 more pages. It's refreshing to simply enjoy what I have in front of me, literally and figuratively.

Buying to fill a void in your life or home is such a generalised coping mechanism these days. I too have realised I do that sometimes. And retail therapy is never going to be the long-term cure, alas. I had the silliest (but liberating) AHA moment today. I was daydreaming at work (oops) when it hit me: I know exactly how I'll keep my memories this year (I'm pretty much an exlusive PLer). The solution is so simple but so well tailored to my brain that I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out. Anyhoo, 6x8 after all. Monthly. One spread for the everyday stuff that I love looking back at (monthly selfie, playlist, books read, simple moments, something in my home/city). One spread for the less ordinary stuff (travels, special occasions, celebrations). I can't wait to start playing with my Paislee Press templates to start giving this format some shape and consistency. I love that the freeze has pushed me to think (and rethink) everything through a gazillion times until the format finally fit the concept. I've spent the last month and a half playing with my scrappy ideas in my head. And it's been a huge help (although frustrating at times).
