Umm, I started the TV shows you shouldn't admit that you like thread...so I guess I do get annoyed he wants to try every new TV show that premieres. In the fall we have a full DVR and don't watch half of them before they are cancelled. OR he decides he wants to watch one of the shows live because he really want to stay up to date.

He loves American Pickers, which I also enjoy. But then he also loves "World's Dumbest Criminals" and those awful shows that feature wild car chases or idiots injuring themselves. Those shows drive me nuts.

My husband watches horrible movies that involve a lot of shootings. He usually falls asleep, and then I can reclaim the remote.

My DH used to be a sports junkie; I liked and could tolerate some but not e.v.e.r.y stinkin' basketball, baseball, football game on the TV! We solved the problem - he has a nice TV in his office and I have the nice TV in the family room. Win-win. Now he's into his photography and other things and hardly watches any sports anymore, lol - go figure!

My DH loves his HBO series (True Blood, Game of Thrones, etc). Our 18YO DD is always like, "Dad! How come every time I walk through the living room there are boobs on the TV?"

My DH loves the History Channel. I don't get it. I have told him over and over, you know how it ends. It's history. But not to worry, football season is coming and now we have the new SEC Channel. Kill me now. I just don't understand his non-interest in HGTV and Food Network.

Infomercials - why, why, WHY? ?? Golf, cycling. Reruns of shows that just had a rerun a couple weeks ago. B.O.R.I.N.G.

I laughed at your answer to the DVR thread leannec, because the DVR has saved many fights in my marriage. DH is a channel surfer and it drives my nuts because he will watch Pawn Stars, AP, Storage Wars, old movies, L&O, etc., until a commercial comes on and then switches. The kids or I would want to watch something starting at 8 and he would say "give me 15 minutes" ?
I'm sure he thinks my reality TV, HGTV & FN favorites are crap too, but I watch them start to finish with heavy use of the FF button when he falls asleep.

Pick a team pro sport, ANY team pro sport, and mine will watch it. He's also a fan of tennis and has been known to watch golf, too, if there's no baseball, football, hockey, soccer, basketball, water polo, rugby, cricket (okay, he really doesn't watch the last 3). Because of his addiction, I know far too much about far too many sports that I don't give a crap about.

Funny you should post this - DSO watches a lot of shows like American Chopper, Miami Ink, American Pickers, other shows where they do up old cars, I can't remember what they are called. They try to inject some "reality TV" type scenarios into these shows but it all seems so contrived. I told him the other night that he is watching the male equivalent of Real Housewives of New Jersey!!! I do enjoy Deadliest Catch however.

Well, sounds like my DH would love to watch TV with all of your DH's. I've seen so many of those boring shows over and over that I could restore a car, live in the wilds of Alaska, and find an old barn and pick some rusty old piece of junk that turns out to be worth big bucks. Every month when I pay the cable bill I just shake my head at the crap that's on TV. Thank God for the internet! haha

Yes, he's watching an alien show now. Oh yes, the Ancient Alien, monotone war history and car shows too. Nothing more stimulating than the car shows. "This is a 1972 Mustang convertible with a V-8 95 cubic 456 horsepower non-catalytic carburetor super A-3 T4 wide angle suspension...." I run away and practice my french horn.

Yes, my husband finds these shows that I didn't even know existed. I don't even know the names: shows about living off the grid, people that live in the mountains, people that hunt mythical monsters. Weird stuff.

Weird stuff. Those sound like they must all be on the same channel. :-D Someone mentioned cycling. My DH DVRs the entire Tour de France coverage every year. Three hours a day for 21 days.

It is strange that someone I enjoy spending time with so much changes when he is in front of the TV and cannot find anything good to watch - war, cowboys, infomercials, etc. He hates everything I like - cooking, Big Brother, Survivor, Amazing Race, etc. I used to get the remote when he nodded off, but now he can sleep with it clutched tightly in his hand.

No, he watches normal shows. He probably thinks I watch crazy shows! I don't watch much tv, but when I do, it's Today Show, Today Show with Hoda.
We think our kids watch crazy tv. We can't stand most of the Disney shows these days (haha!)

My DH turns on the History channel, the military channel (every show is about WWII), or any sport that is on. Lately it is really bad martial arts movies from the 70's.
Then he will proceed to fall asleep. If I change the channel, he will wake up and change it back. Then promptly fall asleep again (actual snoring). Can't win. At least, I got him to stop coming into the room while I am watching a show, change the channel, and then leave the room after 5 minutes.

Geez! My dh has the worst taste in TV ... right now he's got "Chasing Classic Cars" on He loves anything to do with cars, boats and those "American Picker" dudes ... if I didn't have this laptop there is no way I could stay in the same room Of course, he thinks I watch crap because I'm addicted to The Food Network, Big Brother, Survivor and The Bachelor franchise Does your dh watch stuff you hate or do you agree? actually, we sort of agree on most of the shows we watch... he loves Chasing Classic Cars (I actually like it too, even though I don't really know much about cars), I love American Pickers, we both like some Food Network and HGTV shows... there's a couple 'girly' shows I'll only watch when he's out of town so he won't give me crap about them, but for the most part, we compromise on our nightly television.

You are a lucky woman We're actually watching "Border Security" right now on the NG channel ... it's Canadian so those of you in the USA might not get it but it's interesting ... people trying to cross the border (by land and air) that sometimes have some "issues"
