now Trump can appoint someone to stop the investigations. while Comey was very wrong misstating the number of emails forwarded from HRC, it only took 24 hours for him to get fired, while it took 18 days for Flynn to get fired (and not for cozening up to the Russians, but for breaking Pence's trust). one more nail www.macleans.ca/politics/what-would-happen-if-trump-fired-james-comey/we can hope.

I just read that and I can't believe how dumb he was to do that.
I've said this before but trump is his own worst enemy. He really is becoming Nixon on steroids.
Holy Cow!

ETA he is like a bad liar who feels the need to over-explain. It's a tell.

Jeff Sessions is part and parcel of this. Despite having to recuse himself from the campaign investigation. But hey, we answer to the Kremlin now, not our silly constitution and rule of laws. This makes the Friday Night Massacre look like child's play.

trump's letter short and sweet. Note he pointed out that he wasn't under investigation . While I agree Comey didn't do the FBI any favors it was still dumb to fire him at this time. Starting to see a pattern with the firing of Sally Yates. Did he fire her because she wouldn't defend his ban or because what she told the White House about Flynn.
But the main question I want to know who is going to restore "public trust" in Oval Office?
Dear Director Comey,
I have received the attached letters from the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the United States recommending your dismissal as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have accepted their recommendation and you are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately.
While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occassinos, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgement of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.
It is essential that we find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission.
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
Donald J. Trump

Holy crap! I think that Comey has had several serious lapses in judgement, but, bottom line, being fired by a creature like Trump on the basis of a recommendation by a mouth breather like Sessions, qualifies as a badge of honor.

My dh just phoned to say he'll be late tonight due to his entire office stopping to watch the news. lol. (NOT on Fox in case you heard that rumor about Trump requiring federal agencies to watch Fox.) Dh ranted on for awhile on the phone but I was also doing dishes and feeding the dog during the call so I'm not sure which thing he's outraged at... I mean, there are so many many things to be outraged at.
