Holy crap! I think that Comey has had several serious lapses in judgement, but, bottom line, being fired by a creature like Trump on the basis of a recommendation by a mouth breather like Sessions, qualifies as a badge of honor. I hope Comey sings like a bird the next time he is called to testify.

So unbelievable. and that Comey found out seeing it on a TV screen when he was giving a speech and thought it was a prank. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU FIRE SOMEONE!!!
Someone of Comey's position should be called in to the President's office, and told IN PERSON.
While I don't agree with all that Comey has done over the past year, firing the man who is in charge of law enforcement's investigation of alledged ties to your administration makes you look even more guilty.....
I didn't have much respect for the current White House occupant and staff, and I have lost all that I did have....

It is interesting that the other people trump has fired were done in a less public manner. Even the Chief Usher (just last week) was told personally, and according to some rumors was given a substantial buyout package.
So trump fires a nationally recognized Department head by letter released to the press before directly notifying the individual. Did Comey even get that letter?
Another spin salad by the trump dictatorship. and these tweets

Of course that paragraph is bizarre. How in the world did anybody in the WH counsel office let the president release that? Maybe he didn't show it to them? That's so cute. You think he actually lets anyone tell him what to do? Shucks. I plead self-delusion by reason of denialism. (Denialism: In the psychology of human behavior, denialism is a person's choice to deny reality as a way to avoid a psychologically uncomfortable truth.)

I forgive you for still being in shock of anything he says/does. You are too far away to be in the direct muck. He is "unbelievable" in the true sense of the word but nothing he says/does surprises me anymore. Maybe for an instant- I hear it, go "what?" for a second and then, consider the source and sigh. I disliked him before he entered politics. He trampled and hurt people in his path. But now too many (all of us) are in his path. Grrrr.. Jon Stewart pet name for him was Fuckface von Clownstick. I keep hearing that in my head. Ironically, Stewart and the gang from Colbert's old show is gonna be on Colbert's show tonight. I bet they are scrambling and re-doing as we speak. That show could get interesting.... ETA on a lighter note, nice new picture AussieMeg.

I think he was pissed off that Comey said it made him a little nauseous to think he helped him get in, and that's why Trump fired him. He's dumb enough, and narcissist enough, that it would matter to him.

DH has Fox on. (I know, I know.) Fox is going on and on and on about Comey's handling of the HRC email situation. NO talk of what's going on now (Russia), nothing about Yates testimony, etc. It's all about dismissing and discrediting Comey so that, by relation, everything from Comey (Russia) is fake and should be ignored.
It's all smoke and mirrors to deflect from the Russia investigation/information/questions. For those who get all, or even most, of their info from Fox, etc., this is all about Comey/HRC/emails and not Comey/Trump/Russia.
And to bring it full circle, Trump/Russia is only to deflect from HRC/emails/whatever, not the other way around.

I didn't think trump could keep his tiny little fingers from tweeting and I was right.
"Cryin' Chuck Schumer stated recently, "I do not have confidence in him (James Comey) any longer." Then acts so indignant. #draintheswamp"
So very presidential.

"“The President’s actions today are shocking. It is deeply troubling that the President has fired the FBI director during an active counterintelligence investigation into improper contacts between the Trump campaign and Russia.
“The administration insists there’s no ‘there there,’ yet President Trump has so far fired the acting Attorney General, nearly every U.S. attorney, and now the Director of the FBI. In addition, this President’s choice for Attorney General has been forced to recuse himself, and the National Security Advisor has resigned, as a result of undisclosed contacts with Russian officials.
“Now more than ever, it is vital that our ongoing investigation is completed in a credible and bipartisan way. We also need to hear directly from former Director Comey about the FBI investigation and related events.
“The President’s actions today make it clear to me that a Special Counsel also must be appointed. That’s the only way the American people will be able to trust the results of any DOJ investigation. The only way this Administration can begin to demonstrate a commitment to the rule of law, which has so far been sorely lacking, is to cooperate fully with the ongoing congressional investigations and to support the appointment of an independent special counsel.”

But damn if I didn't find myself wishing that Trump had even a smidgen of the grace and class that Bush showed in the days after September 11th. Can you imagine Trump putting his pettiness aside to unite the country? I can't. I am so furious and worried about the implications of Comey's firing that I can't articulate a response right now.

Rod Rosenstein’s memo suggests Comey was fired because of how he handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation. What I’m getting from this is that they wanted the FBI to recommend to the DOJ that Hillary be prosecuted.
"I cannot defend the director's handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton's emails, and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken. Almost everyone agrees that the director made serious mistakes; it is one of the few issues that unifies people of diverse perspectives." "The director was wrong to usurp the Attorney General's authority on July 5, 2016, and announce his conclusion that the case should be closed without prosecution. It is not the function of the director to make such an announcement. At most, the director should have said the FBI had completed its investigation and presented its findings to federal prosecutors."
ETA: oops...sorry, didn't know it was already brought up above.

Dear 45
While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate many occasions, that I am not you aren't under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice Citizens of the US that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau country.

Every time I read one of his tweets (usually here, I will NOT follow him on Twitter) I want to slowly break each one of his loathsome fingers, one at a time. This tweet makes me just want to smash them all with a sledgehammer. Of all the many, many, MANY things I despise about him, somehow the tweets get under my skin the worst. No president should tweet, IMO, but this one should REALLY not tweet.

I know it would never happen but I wish Hillary would get her own PI and investigate on the sly. Then blow the shit out of the water with whatever he/she finds.
It would be karma and deliciousness all in one and the best part would be Trump internally combusting and exploding as he's hauled off to jail...
OMG...dreaming...

My anger/upset/fury about this is actually not directed at Trump. He is exactly the small minded, petty, corrupt, mentally ill, incompetent and pathetic man the majority of us knew he was. He can never be more than what he is. The events of the last 18 hours, including the almost comical tweets coming out of the executive office of OUR White House are why I can't make peace with the persons who gave this awful man this kind of power. We all bear the stain of his shameful, embarrassing, disqualifying behavior.

My husband has a lot of professional dealings with the FBI - both agents and agents-in-charge. He says this guy was extremely well liked among both the rank and file and administrators. People viewed him as someone unusually dedicated to the mission and integrity of the Bureau, in addition to the well-being of employees, and the first director in a long time who wasn't guided by a personal political/career agenda.
Our Mr. Trump seems to be talking about an FBI with a very different "spirit."
(Sorry...meant to put this in the tweets thread, but I guess it's fine here.)
