Hi....my name is seveerb and I buy too many scrapbooking supplies. I am playing along with Christmas in July..seriously fun and the theme makes it ok for me to work on Christmas in the summer. I mentioned in an earlier post that I drug everything Christmas out. I sorted them into collection families. Pink & Mint (muted), Burgundy & Brown, Traditional Red & Green, Hot Pink/Bright and last Lime Green (although the two collections I have in that color DO NOT go together (Doodlebug & Authentique).
I am still going through the pink and mint color family when I remembered there might be more elsewhere. Found it, then was looking for something else and found more and another collection. And I found a non-Christmas box of my kit club stuff I bought on sale a year ago. And I found the entire OA Make it Merry Mini Album Kit. Ugh. I should probably be frozen for about a year. Or at the very least do not fall into any Christmas collection temptation this year.
I can't decide if I should keep my color families separate in the end or just call it all Christmas, because there is some cross-over. Oh well, I am going to keep putting page kits together for now and decide later.

No Christmas projects underway yet but at the weekend I plan on getting in some stamps and testing out a few ideas for cards.

Need to try out some designs to see what works, but that won't happen until next week.

I love her tutorials! The thread was actually about using card sketches, in the cardmaking section of the forum. I have since found another person who uses a 6x6 pad to make as many cards as possible in a slightly different style (an example www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUdbehbZyME). Jess uses less matting and doesn't seem to use sketches. She seems to mostly use doodlebug and bases a lot of her designs around the cut apart elements in the pads. I'm using the same basic idea for my Christmas card making sessions, hopefully next week. We'll have to compare how many cards we end up getting out of one pad. I've done it with four or five pads since I discovered that thread here and it's so satisfying to use something up completely!

I haven't done much since the 1st, but I did wrap up day 20 and add some journaling for half of the page I have for the 22nd. Thank goodness for the wider spine in the holiday albums from SS because the thing is already bursting at the seams. I might have to reign it in on the bulky embellishments for the remainder of the album or it won't be able to close! At least the photos and cards are in there, so if I keep it to typed journaling where necessary and flatter stickers and such, I should be able to get away with not making it too much thicker. I pulled out a ton of wood veneer and acrylics hoping to put a dent in those items specifically because of how wide the album is and wanted to put it to use (I don't use them in PL unless they are the thin veneer and have even stopped using thickers in my PL most weeks to keep the bulk down...so these embellishments don't see the light of day often). I'm just happy that I'm getting somewhere with it.
I also have a reminder on my phone to start recording shows on Hallmark soon (when I looked on the 30th, the programming for the 14th wasn't up, yet). Even if I don't watch them while crafting, I enjoy them throughout the year. There is also a craft day on HSN next week, IIRC and they do a lot of Christmas in July programs, too. I don't really buy much, if anything, but I do enjoy the decor on the sets. It was 113 on the drive home...ugh.

seveerb, great idea to coordinate your Christmas designs. justjac and joblackford, thanks for the links for the card making. gmcwife1, a decision for 3 designs sounds like progress to me! Have you started any of them? Website that tells you supplies that are needed for Christmas crafting. She's working on Christmas crafts this month too. I was looking through my silhouette library at cards yesterday and knew I had some that weren't showing up. So went to the store and there were several more that should be in my library that aren't. They stopped showing up when they switched to the cloud storage -ugh!!! So I sent an email to silhouette, hopefully they'll tell me how to get it fixed.

Not scrapping related, but just thought I'd check in and bring our thread back to the front page I'm overweight, out of shape and sit at a desk all day. Some of my friends I met through my dog activities and I have started to 'get in shape for our dogs'. They run agility and I'm training my dog for agility, among other dog sports. So we started trying to go on at least one bike ride a week. We would prefer 2 - 3 rides a week, but we all work full time, have families, dogs and training classes. Last night was my 4th ride with them and we rode 9.2 miles!! And I did not have to walk my bike at all even though we did a 300 ft gradual climb for over 4 miles! It was a beautiful trail and one that I will run my dog with the scooter on in the fall. Ok, back to our regularly scheduled scrap chat

gmcwife1, that's a big deal and so, so awesome! Great job. I'm overweight and out of shape too. I was excited earlier this year to walk our hilly property without breathing hard and heavy, but we took a break from walking it due to other projects and I can tell I've slipped back

And how hard it is to restart again <sigh>

I'm on day 23!!!! Almost done with it, actually...I can't believe that I'm getting through this.
When I started this project, I had a typewriter that required me to basically attempt each journaling attempt no less than 5 times and I truly thought it was me. The typos certainly were, but there were a lot of things that were hinky with it that I thought were normal for typewriters. Then slowly, the issues became worse and eventually more things went wrong and I realized (after it took me about 4 sheets of paper to make about a dozen album labels) it wasn't me...the machine was defective. I kept getting so angry and frustrated (to the point of tears) and being that what I had already done in this album was heavily typewriter based and I wanted to continue that, I think that might have played a role in me not wanting to pick it back up. I know, I know, I could have just used the computer, but I kind of like the free flowing of words with a typewriter. Plus the textural aspect of it never looking quite perfect. Anyway, I got a 'new' one a few months ago and it works much better. It has a few imperfections (like ghosting the character I just pressed behind the next character on occasion) but I think it adds to the charm. I'm still having to redo things here and there, but nowhere near the degree that I was having to before. Most times there is only 1 or 2 mistakes and since I chop up the lines most of the time anyway, I just start a new line and start that one over.
The 24th and 25th take up a TON of my album and there really isn't a ton to say for most photos...just lots of pictures of the family. The only story that I know for sure I want to highlight is that my niece and sister handed my husband and I the other person's gift. He knows he can't get away with being goofy with me very often (I'm a bit more reserved...not so far as to be uptight, but definitely closer to that than being the clown he can be...let's just say that I have a dry sense of humor) but in general, he's the family comedian...completely PG and dad joke level, though. Since we opened each other's gifts, I have a picture of him excitedly holding up the necklace and ACOT gift certificate they got me, lol.

Really cute tags, LisaDV! That looks like a good way to get in the creative Christmas groove! I considered going to the Carson Stamp Show today, where Tim Holtz is making an appearance. Last night I went through my Christmas stash. After seeing all of the holiday items I stocked up on at the November show, I have plenty to do without adding more supplies, so I decided not to go. Sometimes I hate being a grown up. I'm at work, then a little shopping, then home to get in the Christmas spirit. It's all laid out on my worktable, ready to go.

nylene I commented on your layout in the gallery before seeing it here. I didn't even realize that was their Christmas card. What a clever way to display it in your albums!! scrapaddict702 , sorry about your typewriter frustrations, but glad you have a better one now. and, WOW! to being on the 23rd!! Being so close to the end of the year is great! Your story is too funny. My dh is the relaxed, funny one in our family too, so it made the story even funnier to me as I can imagine the antics that ensue. oaksong , it would have been worth going just to see Tim Holtz. grammadee, how did the sign painting go? are you finished with your 2 signs? Yesterday, I - watched 2 hallmark Christmas movies (library) - took over the entire dining room table - made 3 gift tags - decided I wanted to do 1 special bookmark gift tag for each of the nieces and nephews (and my kids) - made 2 shaker Christmas cards that still need the sentiment and inside writing panel added - cut out all but 2 pieces for a 3-d nativity card (my cameo started getting wonky) I still have today for crafting purposes too.

I have't started my Christmas cards yet - I'm shooting for Friday afternoon when Hallmark's Xmas in July week starts - but I did start working on cards using a collection I just *had* to have (Kaisercraft Wildflowers) that's been sitting around for weeks now. I wanted to do my best to power through that so I can clear off the tray I use to hold scraps/die cuts/WIPs when I have to clear the table for dinner. So far, so good. I got a 12x12" papers because they didn't offer a 6x6" pad option, so I'm going to have so many watercolor floral cards! They're gorgeous though. I'm excited to get them made and done so I can move onto holiday cards though.

Thanks for the report. I was wondering when he announced they had arrived if the Stampers Anonymous booth might have had those, along with the new Oxide colors. How exiting for the people who were among the first to get the US shipment! As much as I love seeming Tim in person, I'm still glad I took the weekend to stay close to home. Hopefully, he'll be back in November.

You ladies are killing it! I got all my stuff out but have had a super busy week with summer vacation activities so haven't really started anything. I have to do photo editing first and I'm just not feeling it. Wish I had done them right after Christmas. Going to try to do a bit tonight and tomorrow to see how far I get. Thanks for the inspiration!

ok girls... I needed this Christmas in July thread. My PL album is way behind and I'm now coming up on Christmas 2015. Which happens to be the first Christmas without Grandpa (DH's dad). I really am not a big holiday scrapper, but I have photos of my kids in grandpa's chair, etc that I want to have in their albums for them. So, thanks for the push and the companionship to get those photos printed. I'm breaking out my stash of OA's Make It Merry for these special photos. Having the new Carta Bella christmas line I like coming soon makes me willing to use it.
